Kaeva woke when he heard the front door open and close. Twilight had fallen beyond the cabin, and the air was right to hear the sound of the surf and gulls. He had a terrible taste in his mouth, and his head throbbed. The door onto the porch from the house opened, and Kaeva studied Eddie’s bare feet when they stopped next to the sofa.
