Exhausted and unable to sleep, my mind was consumed by thoughts of the Dragon. His striking features, with white hair, icy blue eyes, and a perfectly chiseled jaw, filled my every waking moment. The memory of his strong muscles, adorned with scars and tattoos, haunted me. Although he made my job easier by eliminating Leonardo, a despicable person I no longer had to worry about, I couldn't shake off the lingering trauma.
Dragging myself out of bed, I wrapped a black shower robe around me and put my black hair up in a messy bun. I craved a cup of coffee to kickstart my day. As the coffee brewed, I headed to the bathroom, longing for a refreshing shower. Lukewarm water wouldn't do—I needed the scalding hot sensation that almost feels like it could boil you alive. After the shower, I towel-dried my hair and slipped back into my robe, ready to enjoy my perfectly prepared cup of coffee: a little over half a cup of strong coffee, topped off with cream and two spoons of honey.
Just as I settled in with my coffee, my phone buzzed, and I saw Izzy's name on the screen. I answered, she screamed over the line "HEEEEYYY GURRLLLLL!!"
I couldn't help but react, "AGH Izzy, my eardrums! Watch it, please!" We both laughed, indulging in our loud greetings. "No thanks, that sounds nasty," she replied. with a smirk i, Could feel over the phone
She persisted, asking about the job and wanting to celebrate. I sighed, giving in a little. "You know, same old. The guy's taken care of, but I'm not in the mood to go out tonight." She huffed, pouting over the phone, and I couldn't resist teasing her. "Pouting doesn't work when we're not in the same room."
"Come on, we need to celebrate your successful job," she insisted, hoping for a gruesome tale. I reluctantly agreed to join her at the club, secretly glad to have a friend who cared. "Fine, I'll go with you. Which club are we hitting tonight? And I promise to fill you in on the job later, okay?" She cheered with delight, exclaiming how much she loved me. Deep down, I felt the same, even if I pretended otherwise.
Fast forward to 8:00 pm, and I had gotten ready, not wanting to endure Izzy's nagging. I've always despised makeup and heels, finding them unnecessary. Even though i wish i knew how to do my makeup sometimes.
As if on cue, Izzy barged through my door, remind me why I had given her an extra key. "What the hell are you wearing?" she exclaimed upon seeing my outfit.
Defending my choice, I retorted, "What? I like my outfit. I think it's cute." She dismissed it as appropriate for a granny party but quickly changed her tune when I threatened not to go. She gasped, trying to salvage the situation, "No, no, I take it back! You look adorable. But wear the heels I got you for your birthday." I refused, recalling the one time I wore heels due to a lost bet with her.
Growing tired of the discussion, I changed the subject and revealed the unusual necklace I wore. It may be hideous, but it's a clever self-defense tool that won't leave scars on my chest. Izzy looked at me quizzically, ''what its a hidden knife'' i said while opening the cap. She rolled her eyes at me.
Leaving the apartment building, we hailed a cab, which arrived promptly. It didn't take long, likely due to Izzy's ample display of cleavage showing both under and on top. I couldn't blame her; she had an impressive figure that deserved attention. Stepping into the cab, the smell of alcohol, weed, and cigarettes assaulted our senses. Curious about our destination, I asked Izzy which club we were heading to, although I figured they were all the same.
"KS La Strada," she hummed, mentioning the fully booked waitlist. I wondered how we would manage to get in. Sensing my skepticism, she boasted about her connections. ''Would you like to know them'' she said white a proud grin on her face. I firmly declined, raising an eyebrow. "No, I don't need to know them. Let's have fun without any strings attached." She pouted, disappointed by my response. "Again, girl, you're no fun." I shot back, "b***h, I'm here, aren't I? I can go back home if I'm no fun." ''Ok ok you are fun, why do i feel like I always loose our arguments''
Because you do''
''Naaah can't be that''
We both laughed, well aware that our arguments often ended with Izzy claiming defeat.
The cab came to a halt, and we found ourselves standing in front of a grand glass building bearing the logo KS La Strada. We stood there, jaws dropped in awe. "Holy s**t, I had no idea it would be this fancy," Izzy exclaimed, still processing the sight before us. I marveled at the multiple floors, wondering if this place was more than just a club.
Eager to prove herself, Izzy led the way, confidently approaching the entrance. "Entry for Elizabeth Knightley, plus one," she declared, and to my surprise, the bouncer lifted the red rope, granting us access. The bouncers barely glanced at us, their attention fixed elsewhere. I smirked, pretending not to acknowledge Izzy's victory. Tap å vin med samme sinn, I thought to myself—a Norwegian phrase I liked, even if it didn't translate well into English. Win and loose with the same mind, does not have the same ring to it.
We made our way to the entrance, where a large bouncers stood, scrutinizing everyone who wanted to enter. I looked at Izzy, wondering if her so-called connections would work their magic.
As we approached, Izzy flashed a dazzling smile at the bouncer and whispered something in his ear. His stern expression softened, and he nodded, gesturing for us to enter.
The atmosphere inside was electric, with pulsating music and colorful lights dancing across the room. People were dressed to the nines, mingling and dancing on the crowded dance floor. Izzy and I made our way to the bar, ordering our drinks and finding a spot to observe the crowd.
As we sipped our cocktails, Izzy leaned in and asked, "So, spill the beans, Aleyah. What happened with Leonardo Bianchi? Did you take care of him?"
I glanced around, ensuring nobody was eavesdropping on our conversation. "Yeah, I kinda din but, well actually Killian Salvatore did" I replied, Izzy's eyes widened. ''What do you mean killlan did it? Wait he was there?! i thought you where gonna cancel the whole mission if you saw him?''
"First to your question yes he did it, i think he has kind of f****d up idea of honor. And second yes he was there, in the Dragon's Den. The Dragon himself caught him with me and... i was about to back out but Leonardo was not letting me go, Killian saw it and guess didn't like it so he shot him they spoke Italian so I don't know the full details" I whispered, shuddering at the memory. "It was intense, Izzy. I never want to be in that kind entangled with the Mafia again"
Izzy's expression turned serious, realizing the gravity of the situation. "Are you okay, Aleyah? That must have been terrifying. I'm glad you're safe now."
I nodded, appreciating her concern. "Yeah, I'm fine. It was a close call, but the Dragon let me go but he has now seen my face so I can't ever take a job with them again"
Izzy looked at me with a little sympathy '' guess you just have to stick with the shadow's it's safer and you know. If the mafia finds out who you are you are in trouble''
''Yeah i guess, but''
''No but's!! Stay away from the mafia you already have a target on your back don't make need more enemies specially if they have that much power'' she spoke stern, i just nodded in agreement
''Ok enough with this Aleyah, shal we go'' now whe have the biggest grin on her face.
'' go? Go to where?''
''Come on follow me'' she dragged my arm i quickly grabbed my drink as she dragged me from the bar
She led me deeper in the club, as we reached an elevator with bouncers on each side. ''Izzy what are you doing?!''
''Shut up and watch'' she puckerd hear lips to be extra plum for the bouncers straighten her dress and punched her boobs up even more
I felt a presence behind us, but i paid them no mind we where here first trying to enter the VIP section but. A cue is a cue no matter how special you are
''Elizabeth Knightley and Aleyah Hart we where wondering if the VIP section is available'' she waived a 100$ bill in their faces
The bouncer on the left looked at the bouncer on the right, ''sorry ma'am it looks like you have not reserved so no entry''
She looked at me baffled. ''Ma'am what the hell?'' She whispered for my ears only.
'' so much for your connections'' i whispered back to her with a smirk on my face''
Haha! If looks could kill
''Ok just let me go make phone call, i be right back'' great now I'm standing here alone with two angry bouncers. Oh and I'm holding up the line
I heard a man's deep voice hum behind me, my eyes widen no it can't be!
I ignore the man behind me, i only choose to step out of the cue and let them pass
As they stepped to the bouncer's, The dragon turned around looking at me with those icey blue eyes
''So miss Smart'' he called me by my alias name but i knew he heard he must have heard.
'' we meet again so soon'' he turned to the bouncer 'she is with me''
