I thought I saw something moving in the trees, but the more I stare, the more convinced I am that it must have been a deer or something. Still, I’m eager for Dominick to get Chloe out of the house, and I wish he’d just get on with it. There’s the sound of glass shattering and I roll my eyes. Wolves can be so dramatic.
I turn my head and freeze as I spot Chloe limping towards me with her hand outstretched like she wants to pet me. Is it any wonder I fell so hard for this woman? Most people scream and try to run away when they see me in my dragon form. Even other dragons have been known to cower in fear before me. Chloe looks like she thinks of me as a kind of big cat.
She stops as soon as I look at her, our eyes locked together and I can see the recognition shining in her eyes.
