CHAPTER 33 I didn’t feel like going out the following Saturday, and Suse and Jonah decided to stay in with me and watch films. Although I was grateful for the company, I knew it was going to be a long night. My thoughts had been drifting all week. I was putting snacks out on the table when the door opened and Suse walked in carrying a large bottle of Coke and that day’s tabloid. She held it open on a page. “I thought you might want to see this,” she said, handing me the paper. She looked troubled. “Or you might not want to, but should.” I took the paper. The article covered two pages and focused on a large, degrading photo of the blonde lead dancer from The Remotes Wembley show. Despair gripped me. Suse was not bringing good news. Her name was Diane King. She was 22 and not a grown-up
