Morning After

She locked the door as she left her house for work. She was irritated, to say the least. After last night she thought she at least deserved a goodbye in the morning. Maybe she was just overreacting? Maybe he had to leave really early and he didn’t want to disturb her when she was sleeping? She shook her head, she had enough things to worry about. She walked down the stairs leading walked to work, it was going to be a long walk to work considering she ran home last night in her leopard for. Walking on two legs would take a bit longer. Although work was only 30 minutes away when she ran, it would take her about 45 minutes if she walked fast in her human form. This would give her time to think, although thinking would probably be the last thing she needed to do. She usually bummed a ride off of Jackson to take her home. Making her way through the wooded area behind the station she ran the rest of the way. She walked throw the doors of the station and over to her office. She sat her stuff on the chair and found a note on her desk. That’s weird, she picked up the note; Miss Sullivan, I know who you are and you know your punishment. You are to pay for your mother's betrayal. I hope you are ready for me. When you least expect it, expect me. To kill you, kill you for your mother to hurt as I hurt. Cale Livingston.   She shuddered, "Well this is just a great way to continue my crappy day. I hope this is just one of Jack’s scare tactics." "What did I do?" Trinity jumped and grabbed her chest turning to her door, "What the hell Jack you scared me to death! Make a little noise the next time you are right behind me!" Jackson rolled his eyes and leaned against the doorframe, “Sorry. You were saying that I did something?” Trinity hid the note behind her if this wasn’t him he didn’t need to know, “I was wondering if you were leaving notes in my office?” Raising an eyebrow, "What note? I never leave notes." Her hands tightened around the note bunching it up in her hand, "Are you sure?" Noticing her hands he pushed himself off the frame crossing his arms over his chest, "Why what's in the note you have behind you?" Trinity shugged acting as if nothing was wrong, "Oh nothing important just wondering." Jack narrowed his eyes watching her, when she smiled he shrugged, "Well okay then. Allison said she wasn't coming in today, Sara's sick. Rob went to get coffee." Trinity sidestepped and sat behind her desk throwing the note in her trash, "Alright, well get to work." She made a shooing motion towards the door. Jack turned to head  back to his cubical waving a hand behind him, "yeah sure." Trinity felt warmth in the back of her head and she smiled when a husky voice entered her head.   ‘Hey Kitten’ She laughed at the nickname. ‘Oh, good morning’ ‘Good morning, sorry I didn't say good-bye this morning’ She felt his regret in the back of her mind. ‘It's fine.’ ‘You okay?’ She could feel his unease and worry. She needed to stop this conversation. If she could feel his emotions, he would be able to feel hers.‘Yeah I'm fine just have work to do’ ‘Oh’ He was worried now.‘I should probably get to work’ ‘Oh okay well I was gonna ask if you wanted to go get lunch’ She smiled, how could she deny him now? ‘I would love too. Would you mind if we ate at my office?’ ‘That's fine I'll bring the food there’ ‘Okay, see you then’ ‘All right.’ She could feel the excitement through the link. She laughed, alright it was time to get back to work. She turned on the computer to log in. As the screen loaded there was a ding letting her know she received an e-mail. Who would be emailing her now in the middle of a mission? She had already done the check-ins and they wouldn’t contact her until she finished the mission to make sure things weren’t compromised. She opened the email to find it was from an unknown address, she was about to delete when she saw the subject line. My dearest Trinity. Who the hell was this? Was it another message from Cale? She opened it and read the rest of the email. I see you have a new man. I hope he knows he can't have you for long. The email even had attachments, she opened each attachment to gasp. The pictures were of her house. Pictures of her and Andy. The pictures were high quality, he had been so close to her house and she didn’t even know. She jumped at the knock on her door, she looked up to find Jackson and Rob. "Hey, sis Rob's here." Trinity nodded then looked back at her computer screen face contorting in concentration, "Okay come on in." Rob walked over and sat her coffee on her desk, "Here's your coffee Trinity." She nodded and looked over enough to see where the coffee was and went back to her screen. Rob looked back at Jack to only get a shrug, he looked back at Trinity, "You okay Trin?" "Oh yeah, I'm fine Rob. Thanks." She picked up the coffee and took a sip as she smiled at him. "Okay. I'll go get to work then." Rob slowly left the room passing Jack and giving him a nod. "Are you really okay Trinny?" "I'm fine Jack really." She gave him a quick smile. Jack pushed off the frame, "Alright, well I guess I should go to work too." "That would be smart, considering you have a lot to do." "Well I'm sorry I'm slow," Jack pouted. Trinity laughed. "Well, I'm glad my pain makes you laugh," Jack smiled and walked out of the office. Trinity slapped her cheeks and shook herself, "There’s nothing you can do about this right now. You have other paperwork to do and you need to get some work done before Andy comes." She nodded at herself for the pep talk. Trinity worked until she heard a knock on her door three hours later. She looked at the door, "Come in." Andrew smiled as he entered and closed the door behind him, "Hey Kitten." Trinity laughed, "Hey Andy." She watched as he came around the desk and kissed her cheek. She smiled, "Well that was a good greeting." Andy stood up and sat on the edge of her desk smiling, "Well you sounded weird when I talked to you I thought you needed it." Both of them jumped as the door slammed against the wall. Andy placed himself in front of Trinity as if protecting her from an intruder. "WHO IS THIS!" Trinity peaked around Andy to see a red-faced Jack. Damn, she forgot Jack was here, "Hey my overprotective brother this is Andrew." She gestured to the body in front of her, “Andrew this is my overprotective brother Jackson.” She watched as Andrew’s body slowly relaxed and he moved to stand beside her. Jackson’s eyes narrowed, "So Andrew what are you doing with my sister?" "He's eating lunch with me" Trinity blurted out before Andrew had time to talk. "Hey what's going on in…oh um hello who's your friend Trin?" Rob questioned. "Man I am a full-grown ass woman if I want a guy in my office I can have one damnit!" Rob threw up his hands in surrender, "Hey all I asked was who he was. Jack's the one who's filling the 'overprotective' role" Trinity sunk farther into her chair, she really wanted to disappear. She let out a deep breath, "Okay, well Rob this is Andrew he's eating lunch with me. Now if you two don't mind I would like to eat with Andrew. ALONE." She emphasized the alone and she made a shooing motion towards the door. When they didn’t move she stood and did the best alpha voice she could, "Now!" She watched Robert quickly leave the doorway heading to his office, Jack still remained. She glared at him. "Fine" Jack mumbled as he left the room. Trinity smiled, "Thanks, Jack!" She turned to Andrew and smiled, her smiled fell as she felt an invasion in her mind. She gasped at his arm trying to find something to hold onto. Her telepathic power was connecting with someone. It was dark and full of hate, and then she saw a tall figure. He came closer to her. He had long black hair with light blue piercing eyes. "Cale" she whispered. Andrew watched as her eyes glazed over, he began to shake her and yell, "Trinity. Trinity. TRINITY!" Andrew began to panic, she wasn’t responding at all, "Trinity talk to me. Jack someone help! Cale don't you dare hurt her, I know you're doing this!" She could barely hear Andrew and her surroundings. She looked at the being in front of her, her mind's eye projecting the image of Cale. ‘What do you want Cale’ His laugh was full of hate. ‘I see it worked’ ‘Yeah, now what the hell do you want?’ ‘So angry my little pet’ ‘Yeah get used to it or kiss my ass I was about to go eat’ ‘Well sorry to interrupt I just wanted to see you’ ‘Yeah sure’ ‘Well, I just wanted to warn you that nowhere is safe. I will get you.’ The world began to spin sickeningly. Colors were blending. Then she heard two yelling men in the background. Jack and Andy? Why are they yelling? As she rose from consciousness she realized they were yelling at each other. She was wrapped in Andrew's arms protectively. "You should leave," Jack yelled. "Why I came here to eat with Trinity," Andy yelled back. "She's my sister and I'm not too sure I like you so I want you to leave." "Well sorry to disappoint but I'm not leaving." Trinity inhaled and summoned all of her strength, "Will you two shut-up!" Andrew immediately looked down, "Kitten you're okay?" Trinity smiled up at him. There was a crease between his eyebrows, he must have been really worried, "Yeah I'm fine babe.” She turned her head to face Jack, “Jack what are you doing here?" Jackson huffed out a breath and narrowed his eyes, "Well your little friend here yelled for me so I ran in to find you completely passed out." He looked back at Andrew to find him nodding, "Thank you babe, but I would have been fine. It’s apparently a side effect when someone forces a telepathic link with another person." "Wait, you don't have that power." Jack blurted. "Yes, I know. It’s a power that mom has and I researched it. I must have had enough of the power that a connection could be made with someone who has the power." "Well, who was it?" Jack questioned. "Cale." Trinity and Andrew said in unison. "How did you know it was Cale?" Trinity questioned. "Well, you whispered it right before you completely passed out." Trinity nodded, "I saw him too." "What did he say?" Jack and Andrew asked in unison. "He just told me to be ready. The note said to be ready because he'll come after me when I least expect it. Then in the e-mail, he said that Andrew should know what he's in for because he won't be with me for long." She cuddled closer into Andrew's chest. Jackson grunted, "So that was what was in the note. You said that was nothing in the note!" Trinity continued to cover her face, "I'm sorry, I just didn't want to worry you." He grunted again, "Thanks for the consideration but that's information I want to know. I'm you're brother. You worry me when you don't tell me what's wrong." Trinity looked over and into Jackson's eyes, "I'm sorry." She really was sorry. She didn’t expect things to get this out of hand. Jackson stood and looked over Trinity and Andrew and sighed, "Well I guess you’re going have a 24-hour guard at your house now. That means I'm staying at your house do I still have my clothes there?" She pushed herself out of Andrew’s arms and nodded, "Yeah." She wasn’t going to argue at this point. She would only make the situation worse if she did. Andrew pushed himself off the ground holding out a hand to help Trinity up, "Hey I want in this too. I want to help as much as I can." Trinity found herself standing and smiled at Andrew, "Well if you want to stay you’re going have to sleep on the couch because Jack won't let you anywhere near me. Sorry babe." Andrew nodded then with a pout. "That's fine. Plus I have a really good sense of smell so I can tell you when someone's coming then your brother can do the protecting you thing since I can't." "You betcha!" Jack added with a dark smile. "Well my two protectors…" she smiled and laughed "I have work to do so either you can stay here or wait until I'm done.” She paused then looked at Jack, “Actually Jack you have work to do so you need to do that. No 'ifs or buts'." Jack groaned as he exited the room, "Fine. I'll be here at eight o'clock alright." "That's fine. Alright so back to work." She sat back down in her chair. Andrew leaned over and kissed her forehead. “I’ll be back, I’ll grab you some lunch so you can finish your work quickly.” Andrew headed for the door. “Thanks!” Andrew waved a hand above his head, “No problem kitten.”
