Chapter1:Krista,Kristan,Kyrstan
Sweat drips from the end of my nose as I bury myself deeper and deeper inside Krista. No Kristan, no f**k Kyrstan. Yes Kyrstan.
"Ah, Kyrstan, you're so wet." I groan.
"What the hell, my name is Abbey!" the girl moans her name. As I push deeper inside, she pushes her hips up to meet me.
"s**t sorry babe, it's been a long night," I grunt back. Thrusting deeper and faster, I lean down and suck her bottom lip into my mouth, avoiding any more awkward talking. Maybe it's better to stick to nicknames. Really, what do their names matter? It's a means to an end: a quick f**k to try and forget I still haven't found my mate. The thought takes me out of the moment, and my d**k starts to shrink back to its sad everyday slouch. s**t. This is the third time in as many weeks. Ever since my mate's face has been showing up in my dreams, I haven't been able to finish with anyone. This is really getting old. Dragons dream of their mates their whole lives, but only once the mate has come of age do their features become clear. My mate's face was finally revealed three weeks ago, and I've been going out of my mind trying to find her. With the help of the elder council, we have concluded that she must be in the human realm, as she is not recognized in any of our shifter databases.
"f**k, time to go," I say as I pull out and jump off the naked girl.
"Are you kidding me?" She shrieks. "Luke, you really are a piece of s**t!" She gets up off the couch and grabs her clothes off the floor. Huffing and puffing, she puts her tiny little dress back on and stumbles onto her heels. She slams my office door as she leaves. I pull up my pants and shake my head.
My office is on the top floor of my club and has one glass wall that looks out over the dance floor and bar area. Almost every type of shifter can be seen enjoying drinks and dancing. Sometimes it feels like this is the only place in the realm where all shifters get along. Outside the city walls, wars have been breaking out all over my land, and it's really starting to get to me.
"Pissed another one off, eh?" Jace, my younger brother and second in command, says as he walks into my office. I don't move, just keep staring out over the dance floor. "What's gotten into you? Usually, women leave here with stars in their eyes and talk of being in love!"
"Oh please, these women know the deal. I'm a one-woman man, and they are just a distraction until I can find her!"
"Well, they used to wish they were that woman, now not so much!"
"Yeah, yeah. What are you doing here anyway? You're supposed to be searching for info on my mate." I give my brother a sideways glance. He walked over to my personal bar and started to pour two strong drinks.
"You might want to sit down for this," he says as he hands me a glass.
I shoot it back, glaring at him. "Spit it out."
"We found her, or at least we think we found her."
"What! Why the f**k are we still standing here!" I grab my shirt and start putting it on.
"Slow down, boss. We don't know exactly where she is right now, but we do know where she will be tomorrow night."
"What does that mean?" Jace shoves his phone in my face; there is a picture of the face I've been dreaming about for weeks. It's on some underground fight poster that says, 'This Friday Tiny vs the Giant.' Next to her face is the face of an ugly-looking man with a bald head and crooked teeth smiling menacingly. Is she supposed to fight this guy? What the hell? "She's a fighter?" I ask.
"Apparently, as far as we can tell, she's been fighting in these underground fights for at least three years now," Jace tells me. "I guess she's gotten so good that she no longer fights in the women's division. Clearly, her dragon strength is starting to come in."
"If her strength is starting to show, then her first shift won't be far behind. We need to get to her." My chest aches thinking about her being in the human world and not understanding what she's about to go through. At least if she were here, she would have learned about who and what she is. The human world still thinks shifters are a myth, a fantasy made up to scare them. They have no idea what our realm is really like.
"I met with the elder council and requested a Royal Favour to allow us access to the human world for 24 hours so I could go snatch her and bring her back to you."
"Well go then!"
"They refused."
"WHAT HOW DARE THEY REFUSE THE DRAGON KING!" My wings itch to come out, and my hands shift to claws and the glass in my hand shatters. I can barely contain my rage. What were the council thinking, refusing the King's request?
"Easy, brother, they had their reasons. They don't think k********g the future Dragon Queen is the way to go. They want you to go there and convince her to come take her place on the throne," Jace says. "Bringing her here kicking and screaming will only make you two look weak and leave an opening for more defiance in the realm. The council have agreed to give you three months to convince her."
"I can't leave the realm for that long! Imagine if Drake the Alpha Wolf found out I was gone. He would try to take over like he already is!" He has been a thorn in my ass since he took over from his father. Trying to renegotiate every treaty we have and bullying the smaller shifters into agreeing with him that I am an unfit King. His lies have spread like wildfire and caused division among my people. He's also started his own wars with the Bear shifters and the Lion Shifters. My army has tried to keep everyone happy, but without a Dragon Queen, our numbers have been dropping, and I don't know for how many more years we can keep doing this.
"The council agreed to keep an eye on the Alpha Wolf while you are gone. They will use their influence to keep him in line while you are away," Jace tells me.
"You need to stay here and also keep an eye on him! I can't trust the council to be strong enough. You are the only one i can trust with this."
"You can't go alone, Luke." Jace says
"I'll bring Max and Bryx." Max is our youngest brother. Bryx is his mate who just happened to be his best friend growing up. The daughter of my father's Warlord. Nobody was shocked when it came out that they were mates, but their journey has not been easy. An adventure to the human world might be just what they need. Plus, having another female dragon shifter could be an asset when trying to coax my mate into returning with me.
"Take Tank as well. You will need backup in case you run into any danger." Jace offers up one of our best captains.
"Dragon shifters in the human world are more dangerous than anything, don't you think?" I smirk at my brother. We both know there is nothing in the human realm stronger than a dragon.
"Well then, brother, go get your woman." Jace smirks as he hands me a fresh glass of booze, and we cheers.
"Oh I will!"
