1.Eternal Starlight Academy
On the day Mira was expelled from Eternal Starlight Academy, she made quite a scene.
Originally, she intended to leave quietly, without causing any trouble, but things rarely go as planned.
When Mira saw all her belongings from the academy over the years—the utensils she used, the bed she slept in, even the magic books she had copied—wrapped in burlap and tossed down the steps by her senior, Elune, she barely felt a twinge of anger.
As that pile of junk clattered down the steps, Mira just sighed internally. After so many years of rivalry, Senior Elune was still just as foolish.
If she was leaving those things behind, they were clearly worthless. Elune throwing a fit over junk was honestly a waste of energy.
Elune stood at the academy’s gate, looking as triumphant as a baboon after a victory, staring down at Mira with a smug smile.
Mira yawned and waved her hand dismissively. “As long as it makes you happy.” With that, she turned to leave.
“Stop! Take your useless junk with you!” Elune shouted angrily.
She threw something else out—an emerald hairpin, which spun through the air past Mira, hitting the marble steps with a crisp shatter before rolling away, lost from view.
Mira paused, stunned, bending down to pick up a small shard of the shattered gem.
How could Mira possibly forget this hairpin…
“When you lost that hairpin years ago, you panicked like a monkey jumping up and down. Others might not know, but I know whose it was,” Elune sneered, her expression laced with contempt and disgust. “Did you really think no one noticed your little crush? Watching you all these years has been utterly nauseating.”
Mira held the broken shard quietly for a moment, then suddenly smirked.
“Senior, if you’ve been disgusted for so many years and then smashed it in front of me today, are you hoping to make me sad?”
Before Elune could respond, Mira’s expression shifted, cooling to ice. “Unfortunately, it no longer makes me sad. But congratulations—you’ve succeeded in making me angry.”
Mira rolled up her sleeves, walking toward Elune. “Come on, let’s have a little chat.”
Elune swallowed nervously. “Stop! Don’t come near me.”
Mira ignored her, and Elune’s face began to pale. “If you come any closer, I’ll scream! Everyone will see the broken hairpin!”
“Do you really think I’m still afraid of people finding out?” Mira sneered, her knuckles cracking as she flexed her fingers. “I’ve already been expelled. Why are you still picking a fight with me?”
Elune instinctively backed up, reaching for her sword. “Mira, there are guards stationed just beyond the gate. Don’t think you can lay a hand on me.”
Mira was without her sword—it had been confiscated the moment the headmaster expelled her from Eternal Starlight Academy—but that didn’t stop her from handling Elune.
Among their year, Mira had always been the most outstanding student.
Mira laughed dismissively. “Go ahead, call out the guards.”
As Mira closed in, Elune fumbled her sword out of its sheath, trembling as she shouted behind her, “H-help! Mira, the expelled traitor, is trying to kill me!”
The academy gates opened, and several guards rushed out.
With a flick of her wrist, Mira snapped her fingers, and a wall of flames ignited at the entrance, blocking the guards on the other side.
“My hair… my hair’s on fire!”
“Put it out!”
“Mira’s magic level is higher than ours—this fire won’t go out!”
The academy doors closed again, cutting off the chaotic sounds inside.
Mira stood right in front of Elune, who had backed up against the wall, with nowhere left to retreat.
Elune’s eyes widened in terror as she glared at Mira. “Just because your magic level is higher than ours doesn’t mean you can bully people! The headmaster will find out and won’t let you get away with this!”
Mira smiled, showing a small, slightly wicked fang. “Today, I am bullying you. Let’s see how the headmaster can stop me.”
Mira extended a hand, and Elune swung her sword in a panic, her moves wild and messy. Within two moves, Mira had disarmed her, grabbing her by the collar and lifting her off the ground.
Mira chanted a spell, and Elune’s sword on the ground flew back into her hand.
Mira swung the sword, the blade slicing just past Elune’s shoulder and embedding itself in the wall with a metallic clang. “You know I have a bad temper, yet you keep pushing.”
Elune’s face turned as white as a sheet.
Mira looked as though she was toying with Elune, but Elune could feel waves of killing intent radiating off her.
Elune’s limbs went weak as Mira’s voice echoed in her ears. “Senior, after all the years you’ve tormented me, isn’t it about time for an apology?”
“Hmph! Did you just take it lying down all these years? Why should I apologize?” Elune retorted.
Mira moved her sword closer, pressing it against Elune’s neck, sending a chill through her that made her shriek.
Mira’s tone remained casual. “You don’t have high-level magic, yet you blame the person you bullied for not cooperating. Do you have no self-awareness at all?”
Elune started crying, sobbing loudly. “Headmaster! Mira’s attacking me again!”
Mira withdrew the sword and stabbed it into the wall next to Elune’s ear, the blade scraping against the stone. Elune could hear it loud and clear.
Before Mira could say anything, Elune began wailing, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I apologize! Please forgive me!”
Mira finally let her go, watching her collapse onto the ground, silently sobbing.
Tossing Elune’s sword aside, Mira sighed. “You couldn’t even let me leave peacefully. You just had to cause trouble. You brought this on yourself.”
Mira rolled her wrist, glancing at the still-burning wall of flames at the academy gates. She was about to dispel it when she noticed a flash of frost magic. The flames were instantly smothered.
A white light flashed at the gate, revealing a white-robed mage standing solemnly, his robes billowing in the chilly wind.
Elune scrambled up, running to the white-robed mage and sobbing her grievances.
The mage’s gaze shifted to Mira, his expression cold and silent in disapproval.
Mira used to dread seeing that look from the white-robed mage, but now… what did it matter? He was no longer her teacher.
Mira smirked. “Headmaster, I am no longer a part of Eternal Starlight Academy. I hope you can keep your students in line and stop them from bothering me.”
With that, Mira waved her hand, softly saying, “Goodbye.”
Then, without a backward glance, she turned, her robes sweeping behind her as she stepped down the marble steps, away from the academy’s towering gates, toward the world of humans below.
There was not a hint of regret.
