I know I haven’t updated in a while but thank you guys for reading thus far! Really means a lot to me! XOXO kay I have never had a better weekend. After Ashlee took my phone away and I was cut off from all communications with everyone, especially Trent, I was able to relax more. Now I was sitting on a beach in Long Beach, lying on a towel, reading a book. Life was good. "Oh, he's cute! Look at that ass" Ashlee said before whistling at the jogger. He flashed her a quick smile and continued jogging. "You're always harassing people. You're so embarrassing" "Shut up! By the way, Xavier is coming to meet us here" "Did you mention that I was with you?" I looked up at her in the beach chair, taking my attention off my book. "Maybe, I can't remember. Those guy are really causing a lot of excitement" I placed my book down on the towel and sat up. I looked over at the two guys walking down the beach. The sun blocked their identity but emphasized their bodies. As they walked by the females, they received howls, whistles, and shout outs. "That's my baby." Ashlee sang as she rose to her feet and ran towards them. One of them caught her and spun her around in his arms. I rose to my feet, half surprised and half expectant to see Trent as he stood in front of me. I rose. Flashbacks of Valentine’s Day night entered into my head. How he'd gently caressed my body. My body temperature suddenly rise and my face lit on fire. "There she is, the one who cried wolf." Xavier called, hugging me. "What are you talking about?" Ashlee asked him "Leigh, here, told everyone that she wasn't feeling well. Everyone, caring for her deeply, went over to her house on Saturday after the football game to cheer her up because she couldn't make it. Guess who wasn't home but was on a beach relaxing in Long Beach?" Xavier explained "You're so over dramatic. I asked her to come see me. That has nothing to do with any of you." She lectured Xavier and Trent. Xavier crossed his arms over his chest and pouted his lips but Trent just shrugged, looking around. Confusion flashed through me. Am I over thinking his reaction or his lack of affection towards me? Is he upset? That must be it. "I really am sorry about what happened guys" I directed towards him. Trent's cell phone started to ring; he excused himself, and then walked off with the phone to his ears. Ashlee, Xavier, and I sat down on the sand after a few more minutes. "Must be the girl he met yesterday." What? Who? Which girl? "At the football game?" Ashlee asked. My mouth was unable to move. Is this why, in the few minutes we see each other, I can feel a sudden distance between us? Why is this happening now when everything was so good before? "Yeah, there was this one girl from the opposite cheerleading team that really liked him. I think she's a friend of Jesse because she introduced them." Xavier chimed in. My mind blanked out. Is this really happening? Am I being punished for past wrong doings? "Ashlee, pass me my phone. Now" It wasn't a proposition. She reached in her beach bag and pulled out my phone that she has been holding captive since Saturday morning. When I turned it on, floods of messages came in but I ignored them. Me: Jesse, did you introduce someone to Trent Saturday? Jesse: well hello to you too Leigh. Yeah it was my friend who's going to transfer starting Monday but she wanted me to introduce her to people at the skool. She saw Trent and liked him! Haha :) Why is she laughing? Me: did they hit it off? Jesse: she seems to think so. He dropped her home and I think they made plans to go out. They move fasttt.... no? Is something wrong? No just now my life is ruined. This feeling is way worse than embarrassment. There is no way to fix this. He is back to how we were when we first met. He didn’t see or talk to me until he had to. I swallowed the huge lump in my throat as I felt my fingers become weak. Me: no don't worry. Everything... I couldn't finish the sentence. I just left it there. Jesse: you said you and Trent weren’t together right? Me: I did. I must of told her that millions of times. Could I really be upset that she believed me? I searched through my messages and saw that Trent messaged me at least 8 times yesterday which stop around the evening. Trent: You haven’t replied to me yet. Are you okay? Trent: Leigh, why aren’t you messaging or calling me? Trent: I am really getting tired of this. Trent: Fine Leigh, you win. The phone fell out of my hands and into the sand. I'm screwed. There is no way to fix this. Even if I tell him what really happened with my phone, he has clearly moved on with this girl... in one night. I sat searching my brain for anything that could make this better. Nothing! The pain in my chest grew. Depression fell over me, tears pooled in my eyes. "Are you okay?" Ashlee asked concern on her face. "My life is over. Done. Ruined." I fell back on the sand and rolled over so my face was resting on it. I wished something would just fall from the sky and put my out of my misery. "Xavier, are you ready to go?" I heard Trent's voice behind me. My heart rippled, tearing further apart in half. I kept my face planted in the sand. He didn't even say hi to me but he's ready to go. I feel like a bolder just rolled over me, leaving my body torn and broken. "You guys just got here. We haven’t even gone swimming yet." Ashlee whined. "Well to be fair, I had to force Trent down here and I told him we would only be a minute. Sorry baby, I’ll see you in the week. Leigh, tomorrow, I hope." "Bye Trent" Ashlee called "I'll see you later" He replied. And then they were gone. He didn't even say bye to me. This cannot get any worse. "What's up with Trent? And remove your face from the sand before you burn yourself." "I don’t care what happens to me" I murmured into the sand. "My fate has already been decided. I will end up alone with 3 cats" "You're so damn extra! What’s wrong with you?" "Me? You’re the one who forced me down here. You took my phone and kept it away from me. Now the first guy I have ever been with and ever told that I loved him wants nothing to do with me because he is now dating a transfer cheerleader who is no doubt flexible-" I hyperventilated. "Breathe Leigh!" Tears were pooling up in my eyes. I am helpless. All I can do is watch the guy I love, my first love, pull away from me and into someone else’s arms. "It's probably not that bad. Don't worry, everything will work out fine. I promise." "No it won’t!" Rain drops began to fall from the sky and immediately it became dark. I stood up, packed up my things, and walked off the beach towards the street. I watched as everyone ran passed, hurrying to avoid getting wet. Half of them just came from swimming... they were already wet... where were they going? As we took a taxi back to the hotel, I stared out the window with no emotions. I ran through every conversation, interaction, and argument I have of him, hoping to commit them permanently to memory. What do I do now?
