1. NEW HOME

245 Words
April 1948, Malabar India Janu took a good look at the house she was going to reside from now on. For how long... she doesn’t know. May be until Cheeru muthachi got better. But from what she picked up from the conversation of her mother and uncle it is not going to happen anytime soon, if it will ever happen that is. “What are you standing there for girl? Come along.” Well...That is her mother. She hates slouching. “Let her enjoy the final moments of happiness amma. I don’t think she will be able to feel anything positive for a long long time.” Janu rolled her eyes at her elder brother. He has been at it since it was decided both of them were moving to their tharavadu i.e ancestral home – Thekkeveedu. “Achu behave yourself. You are the man of the house now. And please don’t try to anger Cheeru muthachi. Hold you tongue if she says something that you don't like. Do you hear me.” “YES AMMA.”But Janu clearly heard him muttering ‘like she needs any reason to get angry.’ Unfortunately for her brother their mother heard that too. “What was that?”  Achu sighed under his mother’s stern look. “Nothing. I will do as you says. Alright?!” “Fine. Now move on.” Janu moved from the step she was on. There are more steps to climb.
