Prologue:Alexis
18 years ago, I had a friend named Alexandra, but she likes to be called “Alexis” . We were the best of friends. We would always play in the park together until the sun set. We were happy, but it stopped when her family had to move without giving a reason why. Though she and her family moved, we would always still write letters, and send each other gifts. However, one summer morning I received a strange letter from Alexis’s mom,
Dear _______,
We are very sorry to tell you that Alexis has passed away.
She didn’t say anything about why we moved because she didn’t want you to worry. We moved because it was for us to find a way to cure her illness. I am very sorry to keep this from you, but we hope you can come here for her funeral to see her one last time.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hughes
…… Alexis, Passed away? Gone.. Her letters always say that she is fine and doing well, but why now? Why didn’t she say anything? I thought I was her friend.. Without hesitation, I took my car and drove a 2 hour ride going to her town. There I met Mrs. Hughes, her mother. I greeted her and she led me to see Alexis. Look at her sleeping so peacefully, lifeless inside her coffin. After what felt like an hour, I sat down and Mrs. Hughes came up to me, “You know, Alexis never stopped talking about you, and how she missed you.” she smiled. I just looked at her and nodded. “I guess the feeling is mutual.” I replied, then she handed me a note, “from Alexis, she wanted me to give this to you.” I looked at her as she smiled and left to talk to other guests. I was reluctant to open the note, but I still did. I was left speechless and left the venue and rushed to my car sobbing, what does this mean… Why now? Why Alexis
I love you
