“It's a pity you didn't pick anything important for the wedding; it seems I'm the only eager one.” Theresa said, digging into her meal.
“Of course you are; women are fanatics when it comes to things like weddings, birthday celebrations, anniversary parties, name it.” She laughed hard, liking the vibe he was pushing out today. It felt like he'd been concealing a hidden part of him for a while, and it just got unleashed.
She stopped eating her food to stare at him as he spoke. “It amazes me how well you converse here but are very uptight in your office or with your guards and workers.” He paused, smiled, and held her hands.
“It's good to loosen up a bit; it's really tiring to be a tight-lipped person and a strict man. I think you're changing me.” He said it lowly, looking into her eyes as she smiled. Jeff had never looked so lovingly into her eyes. He hadn't even touched her, but here he was smiling at her; she couldn't help but marvel. It is an achievement, she thought and screamed within her.

“We have to be in a meeting right now; come on, or Mr. Graham will have our heads on a platter of gold.” Allen teases, assisting Kate with her files.
They'd met at college, and since then, their relationship has blossomed into a tight-knit friendship. “I'd really love that.” She replied jokingly as they walked to the conference room. She decided to move out of her father's place because she was becoming a burden to him, and she couldn't face it, so she had to live.
As they walked into the conference room, they looked for their name tags, and luckily, the seats were side by side.
“I guess they took out time sorting everyone with their best friends.” Allen said as they both chuckled. The hall came to a complete silence as Mr. Graham climbed the podium. At fifty-six,he had a striking resemblance to an athlete and was very fit, and it's not a wonder why his five marriages had come crashing down because of infidelity on his part. He had three children, all from different mothers' families, and it wasn't a surprise. He had lots of money, making his TV house and station the most successful in the States.
“We're all gathered here because of this important information; it'll be a boost to GR holdings at large, and if you perform well, you'll be known all over the world.” He smiled as they applauded him, while flashes did justice to him and the hall.
“We've been given the contract to oversee the news and capture events at the engagement party of Jeffrey Simon and Princess Theresa.” The hall went into an uproar, but Kate felt paralyzed.
Had she run away several years ago to walk into this ditch again? She'd never thought she'd be meeting Jeff again, and that too with his girlfriend. Her heart sank to the pit of her stomach as she felt the urge to throw up. She stood up, took to her heels, and fled the hall. She couldn't bear to sit or stay there any longer.
As she cascaded down the hall, she let the tears roll freely down her cheeks as she pushed the door to a rest room open. Bile rose in her throat, and the next minute she was throwing up into the wash basin.
Her make-up was ruined, so she washed her face and spoke sense into herself.
Who'd believe her one-time best friend would be like this?

“Who's coming to pick you up?” Mrs. Annie asked as the children got ready to go home. Her son, Manuel, walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her middle as she chuckled. “You missed me, huh?” She asked, kissing his hair as Layla scoffed.
“Boys aren't girls. Mrs. Annie, why'd you kiss his head?” She asked, sucking her thumb.
“You're not a baby, Layla. Quit sucking your thumb or I'll have to cut your finger off.” She teased.
“Manuel is my son, sweetie, and he deserves all the kisses in the world just the way you deserve all the kisses from your mom.” Layla smiled, wrapping her arms around Mrs. Annie.
Mrs. Annie watched from the window as parents came to pick up their children, but amongst them, her eyes caught the attention of a strange vehicle. She knew the vehicles of all the parents around, but this? She knew and felt it was strange. She knew it wasn't meant to be there.
She watched as the car stayed for a while, the person inside staring directly at her. She gasped and turned around. By the time she turned to face it, she saw it retreating as her heart raced.
He'd noticed her looking at him, and that was a bad sign—a very bad sign. As the day went by, she couldn't help but feel uneasy. What exactly did the person want? Who's this person after?

“Are you okay? You look pale.” Allen asked as he walked with Kate to take a cab.
"Yeah, I am. I just ate the wrong food, and it chose to spring up at the conference. It's not a big deal. I'll get going. I don't want to be sued by my kids for coming late.” He chuckled and waited till she got into the cab.
“Call me when you get home.” She nodded and waved him goodbye.
As the cab rode the busy road, her heart began to ponder what exactly was happening around her. A marriage between her rejected mate and his girlfriend, and she had to foresee the event? Tears pricked her eyes, but she'd promised herself that her tears would stop inside that washroom.
She'd take on the job with her colleagues and do her part. She'd already been rejected, and there was no going back. It's her and her kids against the world.
“Mummy!” They all screamed, throwing themselves at her as she caught them, kissing their faces as they giggled.
“My muffins, how was school?” She asked, assisting them into the cab, as she waved at Mrs. Annie.
The cab rode out of the school compound as she held her children closely.

Princess Theresa walked down the hallway, looking right and left to make sure she wasn't followed. She had urgent business to do, and she had to do it now.
Sliding the key into the keyhole, the cellar opened as she left herself in it. A streak of blood hit her nostrils, but she wasn't the least bothered. Her target had been found, and she'd gladly prey on it.
“Here he is.” A guard said, passing her a set of blades and a sickle.
The man's fingers had already been plucked off according to her orders, and it gave her satisfaction to watch him writhe in pain.
“Say your last prayer, wishes, whatever, because you'll be taking your last breath here.” She said it evilly, laughing hysterically.
“Please, I beg you,my family.”
“He had a family? Search for them.” She said, slicing his arms off as her guards scurried out of the cellar.
His screams filled the place, and she loved them. They sounded like music to her ears.
“Your screaming makes me want to do more.” She growled, her fangs and claws coming out as she pierced his eyes with her claws, pulling them out of their sockets and dangling them in front of the other eye.
He struggled, tears rolling down his cheek and sweating profusely.
“Now you'll know what it means to mess with you; you've got the nerve. I'll leave you to bleed to death, and by morning your death will be announced, and guess what? No one will ever find out I did it, courtesy of being the princess.” She wiped her hands on the clothes of one of the guards and walked out.

UNKNOWN LOCATION
“You let the class teacher see you? If you sabotage my plans, believe me, I'm getting you and your family out of the way. Track this so-called teacher, know her location, and ask if she has any family members. If possible, eliminate her.”
“Yes sir.”
“I do not want casualties; eliminate her and her whole family; no one messes with me.”
“I'll do that right away.” As the private investigator walked out,he smiled at his accomplishment. It's just a matter of time before Kate will come running to him, and he couldn't wait for that to happen. He could wait...
