“Can you hurry up? I need to catch up with that car. I need to catch up with it.” Mrs. Annie ranted on and on till her cab caught up with Kate's car. “Kate, Kate.” “Mrs. Annie, what's this?” She asked, putting a stop to her car. “What are you doing? I have a meeting to attend. Can we talk when I get back, and please don't bring that issue up anymore? I really need to get going.” “What if you get into trouble trying?” “Do not stop me, or you'll see the other side of me. Now get out of my way.” “Mrs. Annie,I got this, okay? I got it.” She got back into her car and drove off, leaving Mrs. Annie devastated and confused. ~♪~♥~♠~♣~♦~•~♥~♣~♠~ “She suddenly wants to meet up after seven years? Why, and what does she want? Was the rejection not enough?” Andrew asked angrily, walking around the office. “She sounded urgent, desperate.” “And you bought into it? Do you think she'll be back for good? Think of it. The minute your wedding and relationship went viral, she decided to come back into your life. Think about this and think very well.” Andrew retorted. “I'll just wait and see or hear what she has to say, then I'll send her away.” He replied. “Excuse me, sir, Miss Carson is here. Can I?” “I already let myself in.” Everyone in the office turned to stare at her,her chest heaving up and down. “I'm sorry, sir. I asked her to wait.” “It's alright, Eva. You may leave us, longest time, Kate.” Jeff said, pointing to a seat, but she declined. “I didn't come here to sit, and I'm not going to speak in front of him.” She replied, taking her eyes off Andrew. “What I'm about to say is private; he's in the public eye.” “You're back to beg him, right? Theresa has him now.” Andrew retorted, walking over to the door as she chuckled. “You still think so lowly of me? Well, I do not intend on going back to my vomit, and just so you know, you're causing chaos with your presence here. Get out.” “Kate!” Jeff yelled angrily. “You'll call my name without yelling first; we have serious issues on the ground, and we have to settle this.” Jeff couldn't feel the usual scent she had around him. It had diminished after his rejection, but he must confess, she looked more beautiful and mature. He didn't quite notice what had changed about her until realization struck him. She had another scent on her. “You're mated?” It came out like he was angry and wanted answers, but she didn't care. “I barely care about being mated.” She replied, lying to herself, She'll face the consequences later, but for now, her children are paramount. “I need your help. I didn't come to destroy your plans of getting married; I just need your help.” “What exactly do you want?” “My children, I need to find them. They've been kidnapped for almost three weeks, and the kidnappers left no trail. I'm suspecting a changeling.” “You have children, not one?” He asked as she chuckled. “You're surprised? Didn't you move on?” She asked, praying her tears wouldn't stream down her face. “Did you ever love me? Did you!” He yelled, and in two strides,he had her against the wall, his thighs separating her legs as she panted. “What are you doing? Let me go!” She screamed, but he didn't budge. “Answer me.” He growled, his eyes turning gold and black. “Do not ever question my love for you; it was sincere, but you didn't expect me to stay after being rejected, did you? You were my best friend turned mate, but you spat me out before I ran cold. You're a beast!” He let go of her, raking his hands through his hair. “How many are they? Who's their father?” He asked and noticed her tense up. “Three, triplet, as for their paternity, it's none of your business.” "Well, you're going to have to tell me if you want my help or if you can walk out of my office.” “You're cruel.” She growled. “I'm far from cruel, darling; you're what cruel is; you moved on so fast, have three kids, and...” “They're yours!” She screamed, her palm connecting with his face as she hit him again. “Do not question my character, Jeff; I'm better than you are. They're six years old; you can run a paternity test when we find them for now? I want my children.” She blurted angrily. “Mine?” He asked, yanking her from the floor and plastering her to the wall. “You kept my children from me for seven years, and you think it's okay?” He asked as tears threatened to roll down his cheeks. “I'll never forgive you.” He whispered, letting her go, Never.” “Your forgiveness means nothing to me. I'm feeding you; in your own words, Jeff, I'm feeding you.” ~Flashback~ “Why did you do that? Why did you reject me? Did I do something wrong? Tell me!” Kate yelled, tears streaming down her cheeks as the clog in her throat refused to give way. It was becoming painful to breathe and swallow, but she didn't care. He'd rejected her the day before, but here she was,at his door in front of his family, begging. “Just leave; leave us alone. My son doesn't want you, don't you get it?” His mother had seconded, breaking loose the flood of tears in the river of her eyes. “Why? What wrong did I do?” She asked. “I'll never forgive you, never!” “Your forgiveness means nothing to me; I care less about it; just leave.” As he turned to go inside, she fell to the ground. ~Flashback ends~ “Now don't give me that look; you asked for it, so stick to your plan of rejection; I do not answer to you, okay?” “You'll do it now; when I get my kids, they'll live with me, away from you!” He screamed at her as she chuckled. “I'm no longer the girl you knew years ago, Jeff. I'm wild now because I've got three beautiful souls to protect, and guess what? I couldn't name them what we planned on naming our kids; I chose differently!” “Where did this kidnapping take place?” “On their way to my place of work, I'll fix a date for us to sit with Mrs. Annie, their teacher; her son was also abducted.” The door opened as Theresa walked in, halting in her steps as she came face-to-face with Kate. “Kate?” “Theresa?” Kate responded, their eyes locking.
