Chapter 57: Broken Bonds and Shattered Security
(Elina's POV)
I pushed through the creaking door of my apartment building, the air heavy and stale. The flickering motion-sensor lights barely illuminated the narrow hallway, their struggling glow matching the turmoil inside me.
I didn’t even notice the cold seeping through my clothes. My hands shook as I climbed the stairs, one deliberate step after another, until I reached the familiar door of my tiny apartment.
But I didn’t go inside.
Instead, I sank against the wall opposite the door, my legs giving out under the weight of my emotions. The sobs hit me before I could stop them. Each one tore through my chest, raw and unrelenting.
“Damon Blackwood,” I whispered hoarsely, my voice cracking under the strain. “You bastard.”
