The dim light of the neutral territory bar painted shadows on the walls. Conversations and the occasional clink of glasses filled the air, but my focus drifted uneasily toward the group sitting with me.
Asher Grey, with his ever-present warmth, was leaned toward me. His wolf’s inviting energy brushed softly against mine in a way that was both comforting and suffocating. Isabelle Reed, his beta advisor, sat with a sharpness to her eyes, clearly sensing the subtle tension, though she hid it behind an easy smile.
And then there was Damon. Quiet. Watchful. His piercing blue eyes occasionally flicked toward me, though he said little. His sheer alpha presence was impossible to ignore, heavy in the air like a storm waiting to break.
