Question: write a story which ends with the words, 'I knew things would be different from now on.'
All students went back to school in 2020, eager to reunite with their friends whom they had not seen during the holidays.
During homeroom, we met our homeroom teacher and our classmates who will be with us for the rest of the year. After a round of introductions, our teacher briefed us about our classes and set teaching we are in for certain subjects. Later on, he told us to elect the class monitor, assistant monitor, secretary and treasurer and their respective duties.
The monitor's position was opened to the class first. No one volunteered to take the position. My teacher selected some students but they decided against it due to personal reasons. When I was selected, I gladly accepted the offer and became the monitor of my class. After that, we selected our assistant monitor, secretary and treasurer.
As a monitor, I have to attend monitors' meeting every Monday which means I cannot hang out with my friends like I usually do. As a monitor, I have to automatically abide by the school rules. This is to ensure we become a role model for students inside and outside the class. If I am found breaking any school rules for any purpose, I will be given double demerit points and would ruin the rest of my life since people only notice me when I'm at my lowest.
Being a monitor is certainly not as easy as I thought. In the process, I lost so many friends because I did not spend time with them due to my duties as well as not doing the things we wanted to do before especially if those items are against the school rules. However, all these hardships helped me to became the person I am today. This is something I should have told myself earlier when I first became a monitor, 'I know things would be different from now on.'
