THIRTY-FIVE Aisha detected patent fear from the women in the prayer meeting but it was difficult to delve; she was new, and not trusted. This said as much to her as did the hushed tones. Rashid fared no better, and had a hostile reaction; he presumed he had to earn his stripes before he would be trusted, but the question was, how long did he have?
