The Devil's Promise

*Episode 1* For five years, a librarian's seat in Quaid-e-Azam Library was vacant. One day a new boy came, white kurta, light smile and strange depth in his eyes. He told his name:- Aariz There was a girl. Her name was Mehru. She was a little stubborn. The only daughter of her house and living alone in this city for studies. Mehru often went to the library for thesis. Mehru came out after working in the library. It was twelve at night. It was raining heavily. Mehru was worried how she would go home. She was still thinking when a voice came from behind. Aariz said:- Got scared?? Mehru turned and saw. Aariz was standing near the door. Mehru:- Who are you?? And what are you doing here?? Aariz:- Have some patience. How many questions will you ask. I will tell. Aariz looked at the moon and smiled slightly. Aariz:- Do you know. I have been for eight hundred years……. Mehru cut Aariz's sentence and said. Mehru:- I asked you something. Answer it. Aariz:- Okay I will tell. My name is Aariz and what is your name?? Mehru:- What will you do with my name??? Aariz:- What you are going to do after knowing my name. Mehru:- I will tell. My name is Mehru. Aariz:- Mehru……..It means light. Mehru nodded her head in yes. Aariz laughed and suddenly disappeared. Mehru turned back and saw that Aariz was not at his place. She got a little worried but till then her cab had come. She sat in the cab and went home. But kept thinking where Aariz went. College Side:- Shayan was teasing Mehru in class. Shayan:- Library again?? For the boy named Aariz??? Mehru:- Stop nonsense. Before Shayan could say anything, their class started. But Mehru was still thinking about Aariz. Where did he suddenly go. In Library:- Mehru went to library. She saw Aariz there. Mehru quickly reached near Aariz. Mehru:- What are you doing here??? And last night…….?? Aariz said cutting her talk. Mehru:- Library time is over. I am going to close it. You go now. Mehru went away in anger. Night Mehru's house:- Light went off. Mehru went upstairs and started looking at the moon. Then from behind Aariz came. Aariz said Miss Mehru. Mehru got scared. Mehru:-Who is it?? She turned back and saw Aariz. Aariz:- Miss Mehru you left your house door open. Mehru:- I didn't know. Aariz:- What if a thief had come?? Mehru did not answer. Both started looking at the moon. That night both talked for almost 2 hours. About moon, books and pain. They talked about pain. Aariz said that pain is not always bad, sometimes it makes a person strong. Mehru said that she feels alone in this city, her family is far and she has no one to share her pain. Aariz said, "Loneliness is also a pain, but the moon also stays alone in the sky every night, still it gives light to everyone." Mehru looked at him. For the first time she felt that someone understands her pain. Aariz was listening to her very carefully, as if he had known her pain for years. They talked about books, about life, and about the pain that no one sees. That night, Mehru felt that Aariz is not a stranger, he feels like someone close to her heart.
