Chapter 1It was one thing to know you were moving to the middle of nowhere, and another thing to be driving through a pitch-black night while the GPS displayed the road and absolutely nothing else. Dante gritted his teeth as he steered his car, an ancient hatchback his cousin had given him, through the blank void. The wan yellow headlights did little more than illuminate a sliver of highway and the shoulder’s short brown grass.
Dante pushed his black hair out of his face and checked his phone. It still showed no service.
