Introduction.
Abuse. Abuse comes in many different forms from physical to mental. Everyone knows someone who has dealt with some kind of abuse. Though it's not something we talk willingly, if at all, about. Why? Because the ugly truth is often times the person you're talking too doesn't want to relive what happened to them or they just don't understand. The ugly truth is that quite frankly no one cares. Or at least that what your abuser has told you. So you believe it. Well my darlings, someone does care. They always do. You are NEVER alone in what you've faced. It's painful right? Embarrassing? Why? Why are you ashamed that you were abused? It's NOT your fault. On average, at least twenty people are abused by an intimate partner or someone they know physically. Thats ten million men and women a year. Thats right. It happens to men too. But because or our society men are taught to hide it. They're taught that a "Real Man" can't be abused when the truth is they can. The statistics for men is much lower because they keep quiet and just never tell anyone. Saddening yes? If you don't believe me I'm sure you have access to google. Look it up. You're not alone. Come with me and let's explore the worlds most hushed truth. Abuse. And it's many ugly ugly heads. In this book we will cover the many types, between its warning signs, and how to not only stop but heal from it. Not Cope. Heal. Healing is the most wonderful feeling in the world. Truly it is. It's like living in your happy place. It's warm and soft surrounded by all your favorite smells and sounds. Trust me when I say that healing is pleasure. Now with that said, healing takes time. You must first go through the motions of grieving. Anger, depression, denial, and acceptance. Something I found to work is journaling. As silly as it sounds, it does help. It can often lead to a sense of relief for the time being which can help you better sort through everything you're feeling. So now that we've established why you'r here, let's begin shall we? From the beginning abuse has been around. It's not something that is new aged. It's been around for thousands of years. What is it? Well abuse is a culmination of things from r**e and physical violence to mental torture. In the next chapter we will discuss physical abuse and its many forms. We'll use a fictional couple called, Sam and Betty. We'll break down and examine the mentality behind Sam and Betty's behavior as we delve into their relationship to figure out why Betty stays even though Sam hurts her over and over.
