chapter twelve: welcome to the city life

"no wonder people move put here, the buildings are so cool. it a good change from the village of the north." Jordan said and he was looking out the window of the car. the prince and Leon were also looking out the window. i was focused on my phone as April and Helen were texting since i got back. they wanted to see me and tour with me but they had college classes. 

"it is but i prefer the houses of the village. its something i grew up with. people live and work in these buildings? that what i think is crazy. there no farms ether, how do you get your food?" Leon asked and he looked at me. i was about to speak up but the prince spoke up for me. 

"they have farms far away and places the sell the food the farms. it called shopping. people of the city don't farm but i read the farms earn a lot of money though." the prince says and i was impressed my mom chuckled and she spoke up. my dad shook his head and looked out the window. we were half of our destination. 

"it called supermarts and yes they send stuff from the farms to the supermarts. meat, eggs, vegetables, and other fresh foods. snacks included too, a lot of bad snacks." my mom says and the prince nodded as he took in her words. Leon was listening as Jordan was still admiring the building that was passing by us. i locked my phone as Helen and April are not responding to me anymore. 

"also to keep in mind, famous people around here get a lot of attention." my dad says and he pointed to a car behind us. we all looked and saw it was paparazzi. the prince looked worried but my dad spoke up again. "there are police driving keeping there distance, we have nothing to worry about. they'll catch up to them soon. we also have tinted windows so they can't see us." my dad says and the prince relaxed. a few seconds later there was a sound of a siren. the car behind us was being pulled over. 

"well that's good to know, so what the plans today?" my mom asked looking at my dad who made all the plans. he wanted it to be a surprise for me too. my dad put a smirk on his face. knowing my dad he planed something good. he did make a lot of calls yesterday. 

"Just wait and see, you'll have fun i promise." my dad says and we all look at each other. my dad is good at planning things. I and my mom knows that. let's hope my dad didn't overpay for everything. he does that too. my mom sighed concerned and the prince kissed my head ensuring that everything will be okay. i closed my eyes and lean against the prince's chest. it will take us another ten minutes to get to our first destination. the prince kissed my head one more time and he leans against my head. i smiled at this and relax to the prince's touch. 

ten minutes later we reached our first destination. Leon walked out first and he opened the door for me. i walked out first with my mom behind me. the prince behind my mom and my dad after. Jordan got out last. since they need to protect me, the prince and my parents too. i looked around and saw we were at the city park. i remember coming here alot when my parents started to work for the city and in the city building which is behind a whole bunch of bushes. 

"The city park, i should have known," i say and my dad smiled as my mom hugged his arm. the prince grabbed my hand intertwining our fingers. Jordan and Leon looking around. i then noticed it was empty. i remembered he made calls, did he make calls to rent the places for a day?

"it empty of people, is it closed?" Jordan asked confused. my dad put a smirk on his face and i was right. the prince chuckled as he knew my dad also made calls yesterday too. the prince pulled me close to him and i put my hands on his chest. 

"no her father made calls so we can see the places in peace. thanks for thinking about us but that wasn't necessary." the prince says and looked at Jordan and then to my dad who still had a smirk on his face.  my dad nodded and Jordan looks supirsed. the same goes for Leon. 

"alpha is right, you didn't have to do this sir," Leon said and looked at my dad. my dad shook his head. i looked around to see no entering signs on the entrances of the city park. 

"as i said before, famous people around here get a lot of attention. if there were people here then there be more people taking pictures of you guys then us enjoying our time here." my dad says and i have to say, he does make a good point. the pt=rince nodded as he also got that my dad was making a good point. 

"well said sir, so this the city park? there seems to be confetti over there? also, this building looks familiar. look like the castle don't you think?" Jordan says pointing to the city building. my mom looked at my dad. my dad sighed and he started to walk towards the fountain in the middle of the city park. 

"well a lot of events happen here, for example, holiday events, the major's birthday or his family's birthdays. there a lot and i bring may here often during those events. she loves it here. there were also festivals and charity events too." my sad says and he stopped in front of the fountain. the prince looked me as we all stopped walking. the fountain looked beautiful during the day with the water flowing up and down like a waterfall. during the night it lights up so it is also beautiful.  

"so every year the princess comes here? I'm kind of jealous, to be honest. did you bring your friends here too?" the prince said and he leaned down to put his forehead on mines. i smiled as my parents looked at us happily. 

"of course, don't get jealous but i had may dates here too when my dad was busy at work and can't take me," i say and the prince froze in place. Jordan and Leon started to laugh. my dad shook his head and my mom giggled. i lean back to look at the prince a little angry i mentioned that. 

"i see, but you're here with me now. that all that matters. so about the festivals? that sounds interesting." the prince says changing the subject. i giggled to this and i spoke up since i been going to all the festivals more them my parents. my dad and mom let me speak up. we started to walk to the riverside where all the duck and bird were. 

"that have games you win prizes in, also there people who make balloon animals too. it's like a carnival but better. we have live shows and they give things away.only if we come here in two months, you can experience that." i say and the prince looked at me taking in my words. 

"so there a lot to do, maybe i might consider it if the prince agrees. also, i heard their charity events? what that about?" Leo asked and we made it to the riverside. we saw a few ducks floating around and small birds on the nearby trees. some were flying around. another thing here in the city park is that the new major put bird feeders too so the birds are not short on food. 

"there for different charities depending on what month it is. i volunteer every now for the charities when i get a chance. it's fun meeting people and playing with kids who learn about the events. they have a kids section so the kids don't go crazy all over the place." i say and Leon nodded. my mom was looking at the ducks swimming around in the river. 

"The park is also big in size. it is perfect for events. looks like there was a charity event a few days ago if there was confetti there." my mom says and i went to the railing to look at two swans that showed up. the prince went behind me and he put his hand on the railing with his arm around me. 

"We should make a pond in the mansion too but i feel like we're going to attract attention to our mansion." the prince says and he looked at Leon and Jordan. i know what the prince is talking about. we don't want the red pack to know where we the mansion is even though i have a feeling they know where it is already. 

"let go to a better place than the river." my dad says and he walked towards the city building. i know where my dad was going. we continuted to walk and the prince walked close to me. Jordan did the same as Leon stood near my parents. there a red pack member nearby, i know it.  

(ken's perspective)

maria was laughing, she was actually smiling. the prince of the north was kept her close as he knew we were close. I and my partner were keeping our distance yet the prince of the north can notice us. on of his pack members are protecting maria's parents and the other one is protecting him and maria.

"It looks like they know we're close. i cant believe i traveled to the city for the first time. you lived out here alpha?"  my partner says and i nodded. i lean against a wall without being detected by the police protecting the entrance of the park. 

"It wasn't bad and i rather get my high school degree first. not planning to be a drop put like most of my friends," i say and i saw Maira went into the ferrous wheel with the prince of the north. he opened the door for her and let maria in first. the prince walked in last as the guy operating the ferrous wheel close the door. i can see maria's parents didn't want to go in. the two-pack members stayed close to the parents. 

"at least you know you're going to get a job when you come here. so what the plan for the few days? they have a meeting with the public tomorrow and the day after that the princess of the north wants to visit her high school." my partner says and i sighed and looked at my partner. 

"we'll be there for both days. the meeting is at the city hall and the public is, of course, invited." i say and my partner right away looked shocked. "were just going to say hi, I'm not going to do anything. besides knowing maria she will keep the prince calm. he'll want to kill me but he won't since he doesn't want maria as a monster." i say and my partner sighed in frustration. 

"still i don't think that a good idea but if you want to risk your life that we'll do it. you know your mate is still out there. you will find her at one point." my partner says and i rolled my eyes. i like maria more but if i meet my mate and if she is almost as good as maria then I'll accept her. 

"Hey I'm the alpha, i know what I'm doing besides i don't plan to die any time soon. I'm taking my time here," i say and my partner nodded. i looked as maria was laughing in the ferrous wheel. the prince was telling her jokes. this makes me made. i could make maria laugh too, i can make her smile if she gave me a chance. 

"Just when will we make our move? i know we're not starting a war but still, we have to send a warning that we are there and serious about taking over the mansion and better the castle." my partner says and i looked at my partner. 

"that will take time, we have to try to get ahead. the prince is too smart for us and always ahead of us. we need to be a step ahead of him." i say and my partner looked more serious. we will achieve our goal and i will get maria to be mines.

(the prince's perspective)

We walked into the city hall and i know ken can't come in. he probably will plan things out while we're in here. i sighed and looked at the princess who knew ken was nearby to just by how i, Leon, and Jordan acted right away. luckily her father and mother didn't seem to notice. if the princess's dad noticed, all hell breaks loose. not going to happen on a special day, a day for a family day plus it won't look good on the news too.

"wow..this is definitely like the castle back in the north. the structure is the same but the castle is wider," Leon said as he looked around. i also looked around and he was right. i grew in the castle before i own the mansion with my pack after i became the alpha. the structure looked familiar for sure. 

"you'll learn more about the history of the city hall when we get to the history museum. we have a lot more planned for today." the princess's father says and the princess nodded. princess's father really had a lot planned for the day which is good, he thought ahead.

"look at this wall, is this all the past major's, wow the one now is the youngest of them all," Jordan says and walked to the wall of fame with the pictures of all the majors and their timelines. the princess pulled me to the wall where Leon walked with Jordan to get a closer look. I'm sure the princess been here before but maybe this is her first time here. her father and mother worked here. I'm guessing the public isn't allowed in the city hall. 

"no one is allowed in here unless they have a reason or if they work here. this is May's first time here plus all yours too. this main hall wasn't that big but we had a remodel recently. the wall here was not full of frames but the recent major wanted to honor the one before him. he wanted this place to be history from now to the future." the princess's mother said and as she walked over to the wall. i was looking at the recent one and comparing him to the old one. looks like Jordan was right about him being young but also he might have a natural babyface. 

"i see, I'm happy that the new major want to honor the one before him. all staff can see the major tree and how they impacted the city over time. i can see some were in a pack in the past but gave up to the major." Leon says and the princess's dad nodded in agreement. the eyes tell it all and we werewolves know just by looking at the eyes. it's hard to explain but we know they were in the pack. i can see one was an alpha too. that shocking to see. 

"The recent major is not a wolf but half his family is in a pack. let go check out the offices. were allowed in some but the only room was not allowed in is the major office of course." the princess's father says and he walked up the long hall. we all followed behind the princess's dad and the offices were far. look like there were restrooms and print rooms for paperwork. there was also a conference room too and it looks like it can fit twenty people. 

"so what was it like working for the major? it must have been amazing to work in the city hall. you did say that only people that work here are only allowed." Jordan says and looks at the princess's dad. my dad looked at my mom as we made it the first office. it's looked like it was not being used but maintained cleaned. an empty bookshelf behind a desk that was clean. no decorations, no computer.

"i can't say Jordan nor can may's father. i can say you get to travel from time to time when the major ask you to come with him." the princess's mother said says and her father shook his head. he works in the castle and soon the princess's mom will work in the castle too. he can't even say what he does in the castle himself. 

"you get the advances of traveling and making the law, just like in the castle. i shouldn't be surprised as we protect the north from threats. we have our own families too so we have a reason why for our job." Leon says and he was right. he has a baby that is one and he goes and visits his dougher three times a week but mainly lives in my mansion. 

"Does everyone in the pack have mates?" princess's mother says and Jordan nodded. we walked to the next office which was being used. there was paper everywhere on the desk the floor and around it was kept clean but the desk was messy.

"they do and i give them an option if they want to live with me or their mates. most of them live woth me in my mansion but some live with there mates visiting often to the mansion," i say and the princess's mom looked surprised. the princess's dad already knew this as he visited my mansion before. 

"that's how an alpha needs to treat there pack, I'm glad you let your pack have time with there families. most alpha's tell the pack to cut all ties. i did the same thing when i was alpha until i had a child of my own." the princess's father says and i nodded. he was right. some alpha's strict with there pack but I'm strict and nice to them at the same time. we walked to the next office and it was a little bigger than the other one we saw. it was being used but i can the person was a neat freak as everything was clean and it there places. 

"i planning to have a child of my own soon too. do you think i need to quit being alpha too?" i questioned and the princess's dad shook his head. 

"you need to continue the family line, just teach your child how to be an alpha when it becomes one. a woman can make good alpha's too. i know a few back in my day." the princess's dad says and i nodded. i just hope we have a girl. i know a male is better for the royal family but a girl would be different a good difference.

(maria ann's perspective) 

"wow, this is..different. i like it." the prince said and looked around the art museum. i came here many times before and it looks different every time i come here. there was new student artwork on the walls for sale and old art that was there for a long time. there was some new artwork that they added recently. 

"i like it too, i don't think the village would visit this kind of place but we can add this around the village for the children around. I'm sure they will enjoy looking at the bright colors." Leon says also looking around and Jordan was near my parents. the prince, Leon, and Jordan aren't tensed up anymore which means ken must be far and can't enter the building. to be honest I'm not supirsed that ken would follow us around.

"We do have some but i agree with Leon here. we should put some more up in the village." Jordan says and the prince nodded. my dad smiled at this as he knew he was putting influence on the prince. he used to be an alpha after all. 

"What kind of art did you put in the village?" my mom asked and we started to walk around looking at the student art first. they didn't look as good as the professional but they were good for a simple design. i can see they put a lot of work into it. 

"just simple art that teenagers made for fun. in the village we pay them if they want to put it out in the park or somewhere where they want to put it. we pay them like i said so they get something out of it." the prince said and looked at my mom who nodded. i never heard of this but i did see the art around the village when i go walk around for work. 

"that good, your father said you recommend this when you were starting out as you felt bad for the kids to not show they're creative side, he also said that you were really strict on the schooling rules but you changed his mind after you become the prince officially at sixteen." my dad says and the prince cleared his throat. this i never heard of. Leon and Jordan covered their mouth trying not to laugh. i looked to see the prince blushing. 

"i started to read and wanted to make my own stories on the side. i wrote a few stories but those are burned away aka put away." the prince said and he looked away from me. i smiled at this as this is a side of the prince i never knew about. "i can't believe my dad told you that." the prince said next and my dad laughed and we moved on to smaller art pieces that are in glass boxes so no one touches them. 

"i used to make things out of popsicle sticks when i was sixteen. my parents didn't let me use the tv a lot when i was a kid and throughout my teenage years. i get it was good for my eyes but that wasn't needed. they gave up when they got me a phone." i waved my phone out and the prince raised his eyebrows. my dad sighed and we looked at a cabin build by plastic straws and you can tell they cut and melted the straws to combined with each other, no glue needed. 

"We wanted may stay focused on her studies and no C's and under were not going to be tolerated." my mom says and my dad nodded in agreement. Leon stopped to look at a wooden carved box with paws on it and had the name 'oli'. Jordan stopped and he shook his head. 

"The prince was raised the same way but he did have a tv or anything technology until he became alpha. i guess we had to move on into the new modern age." Jordan says and i was surprised. they did live in the north and at least eighty percent of the north is still the old village. they lived in old age still getting used to the new modern age. 

"We can't always live in the old age,  Jordan. anyway, when we get back to the north, let take a tour? i want to show my wife the north and for her to get used to her new home. i kind of want to see the art around town." my dad says and the prince looked at me with a smile. i sighed and we continuted to walk to see the other small art. 

"We can do that. i know the princess has a small tour whenever she works so i know you know some of the art around the village." the prince said and looked at me. i nodded and we moved on to cultural art. it looked similar to the north for some reason. i wasn't the only one who noticed though, the prince looked at it and he was for sure thinking the same thing. 

"Sounds like a plan than when we go back home. oh, look at this." Jordan said and he walked to another cultural art piece. i cant wait to see to go to the history museum as i know my dad. he for sure wants the prince and his pack to learn the city a little bit more. I'm sure we're going to learn more when we get there.

"you know i never tried any other food than Italian, seafood and old victorian. Japanese is new to me." Leon said and we walked into a Japanese restaurant. it was the nearest restaurant to the history museum and plus the prince wanted to try it as well as Leon and Jordan who took an interest in it. 

"Most people from the north still live in traditional areas and still do traditional things. i bet it's a good thing you decided to explore the north. maybe let's bring your parents with you, your parents will for sure enjoy walking around big buildings like this." my dad referenced to and gestured to the big building surrounding us. i put a smile to my face as a waitress noticed us.

"I'll be there in a minute." the waitress yelled from afar. i looked around to see it wasn't busy and were the only ones waiting. all the people eatting were looking at us and whispering things. i sighed knowing what they're probably saying. 

"who knew the city was the original 'north' until thew south started the war so he moved the north to where it is now.  the city is between the south and north. i wonder who found out the old north and made it to the city?" Jordan questioned and the prince shrugged as the waitress walked up to us with six menus. 

"Sorry for the delay, we got you a privte room as a request of my manger." the waitress said and we all walked with her and towards the back. the people around us looked away and some still whispered a few things. "also since your here visiting my manger will serve you personally. it is his request as well." the waitress said and she stopped at a room door. she opened the room door to show us a table with ten seats inside. it was made for meetings and it was clean too. they must keep it clean. 

"We understand, thanks for that." my dad says and the waitress gestured us to enter. my mom walked in first and then me. the rest of them followed behind me. the prince walked in front of me and he pulled out a chair. i just looked at him and just sat down. my dad did the same for my mom which my mom was happy about. loen and Jordan sat near me, the prince, and my parents. the waitress put the menu on the table and she bowed before she walked out of the room. my dad grabbed a menu stopping the prince from grabbing another menu. 

"so while we order our food, what was your favorite place we visited so far." my mom asked and looked at the prince, Leon, and Jordan. they all started to think as the waitress walked into the room and my dad waved her over. my dad started to order the food and Leon spoke up. 

"i like the history museum but i also like the art museum. you learn something new every day. i never knew the city was the north originally before the war. it sad that we used to be friendly with the south but now it's war always between us." Leon said and the waitress walked out of the room while my dad handed the six menus to her.  

"also it makes sense why the city is between the north and south. i just wonder who found this place and decided to make it the city?" Jordan questioned and leaned back on his chair. "it makes sense that most of the buildings near the city park look like the castle but bits of it. ." jordans and the prince put his hands on my thigh. i felt a strong p[resence form the outside. there was a huge window near me and a few trees. is ken hiding behind them? 

"at least they kept those buildings the same. a shame if they destroyed it and ruined history." the prince says and leans in. he squeezed my thigh and i knew ken was near. he was trying to comfort me as he knew i would tense up in fear. i sighed and put my hand over the prince's hand. 

"there a reason they didn't remodel the city park area. i was supirsed too, who knew the south was the reason why the not moved. image if they didn't have war. what would all our futures be like?" my dad questioned. i just shrugged and a man came in with our food. he was for sure the manager of the restaurant. 

"i don't know but a lot to think about." the prince says and looked at me, the manager walked up to us. he started to put the food down on the table. we went to a lot of places today and i was tried. the fact ken is watching me probably scary but i need to focus on family right now.
