Two And A half Years Later. Birdie went back to Sky View after close to three years. She looked nothing like the plain, awkward, scared girl who had left this place in fear. For years, she had used the power of her adoptive parents to chip away at the financial stability of her ex-fiance's family. Like a puppet master in the dark, she toyed and twisted with their lives as she pleased without their knowledge. She bought shares in all of their companies secretly and bided her time. Now that she was the largest shareholder in Kyle’s resort, she was ready to show her face and kick him out of the company. At the airport, she was picked up by a group of bodyguards that her father had chosen carefully to aid her on this revenge mission. She was dressed in a long tight black dress with a thigh-high slit and black stilletos. Her lips were bright red and she had a very large black heart on her head. She topped off her shouting look with a pair of expensive shades. She looked like the widow of a very wealthy man who was coming from his funeral. Everywhere she passed, people gave her a broad birth. “Where are they?” she asked as soon as the fleet of cars set off. “At the resort, a board meeting is about to be held to make a decision whether to keep Kyle on as CEO or kick him out of the company.” Her secretary Alyssa replied. Birdie had hired Alyssa on Richard’s recommendation. At first, she mistrusted the young fresh out of university and was eager to please girl because she worried that she could be a spy. However, over the years, Alyssa had managed to prove herself to be an asset. More importantly, Birdie developed an uncanny power to tell when someone was lying or telling the truth. Perks of being reborn to be a queen, Divine said. “Then that’s where we are heading.” She said. “Your coffee,” Alyssa handed a cup of freshly brewed coffee with two spoons of sugar to her. She always knew what Birdie needed, when and what to do. “You always read my mind, Alyssa. I needed a shot of wake up juice.” “That’s why you pay me the big bucks.” Alyssa smiled. “Send my mother a message and remind her that the triplets are banned from eating sweets this week. And James should not be allowed anywhere near a computer without adult supervision.” “Yes Ma’am.” Another perk of being reborn was that her children had turned into geniuses somehow. James the first born was a computer whiz. He was almost three but he could do everything she could with a computer. Jack was a mathematician. The boy was always lost in equations and science books. Her little daughter and sweet Jill was a painter. For someone so young, the accuracy and beauty of her paintings was unnerving. She often wondered if this is how they were meant to be in her past life or if the genes of their biological father were different. But they had the same eyes as they did in her last life, so it was still the same man that impregnated her. “Your mother says it’s too late. They finished a jar of cookies the moment you set off and hid two more pastry jars somewhere in the house.” Alyssa laughed. Birdie smiled. She was a distance away and could not punish them. Sue, of course, loved the little rug rats too much to stop them. Like a doting grandmother, she said yes to everything they wanted. Richard was not different. He is the reason as to why James had all sorts of expensive computer gadgets in the first place. He enjoyed boasting in his circle of friends about his genius grandson who would revolutionize the internet. “I will punish them when I get home.” Soon, they arrived at the Spring View mountain resort. Birdie stepped out of the car and looked around. In her previous life, she never got the chance t come here after her father’s death. She always thought she would do it after her marriage to Kyle, but that never happened. The sting of his betrayal was so vivid in her mind after so many years. But it was time to pay back. Her wrath would bring them to their knees. The first steps she took were tentative. Shaky even, but steadily, she gained confidence and increased her pace. Alyssa pushed the door open and walked in first. A body guard followed and pulled out a chair at the very center of the table. Three more guarded the door and made a way for her to make her entrance. She took her seat and smiled at the audience which was gawking, “Let’s begin.” Birdie observed the faces of the people at the table. Kyle, for one, looked older and more exhausted than she remembered. Then again, in his last life, everything was smooth sailing for him. There were no obstacles in his way to expanding the resort and making himself a millionaire. “You!” his mother was outraged. “Yes, me,” Birdie acknowledged. “What are you doing here?” his father asked. “Are you stupid or can’t you tell what’s going on right now?” “You can’t be here.” Adella screamed like a shrew. “Where is security? Throw this woman out.” “Ha-ha-ha.” Birdie laughed. “You are louder than I remember Adella. “ She scratched her ears as if Adella’s shout had injured her somehow. “This is a private meeting, only shareholders are welcome to attend,” Kyle said. His eyes were calmer. He knew she was here for a reason. “So what does my presence here signify?” “You are a broken b***h. How could you be a shareholder here?” “Things change, Adella. Like how things changed after my father died and your parents stole my shares. I simply took back what was rightfully mine. I should thank you, by the way, for selling those shares to me.” Kyle roared and banged his fist on the table. “You sold your shares! Are you crazy?” Adella nervously played with her hands. She had acquired a taste for gambling over the last two years and when she ran out of money, a friend of hers convinced her to get a loan using her shares as collateral. Of course, Birdie was behind the gambling addiction. She had even arranged for a friend who accompanied Adella in her vices of gambling, shopping and living extravagantly. It was that friend who took her to the money-lending company. “I didn’t sell them. I just took out a loan using a few of them.” “And I own the company which gave you that loan. Didn’t it cross your mind that the terms were simply too good to be true?” Birdie laughed. “Then again, sister, you have never been one to use your brain for thinking, except when you are scheming.” “She tricked me.” Adella shouted. ”You have heard that.” “Whatever the case is, I am now the major shareholder of this resort and I have been doing some digging around into the finances of this company.” Alyssa went around the room handing out financial paperwork to the other board members. “You have been a bad boy Kyle.” “You have been embezzling money.” One of the board members glared at Kyle. “Is this why we have the same number of visitors but fewer earnings?” “No_, no_” Kyle stumbled over his words. “But we have all the evidence, Kyle.” Birdie leaned on the table with both hands. “Don’t listen to this b***h. He jumped up.” “I have already called the police,” Birdie said. “You won’t be able to go past my men.” Kyle ran to the door but the men overpowered him. They injected him with something and he lost his energy and fell to the ground. “What have you done you crazy b***h?” Adella shouted and ran to her husband. “Just gave him a little something to calm him down, we wouldn’t want him to turn into some kind of animal now. Would we?” she smirked. Adella glared at Birdie so angrily. Evil, hate and rage were filled in her eyes. “I am going to kill you.” “You should try it.” Birdie said.
