12. After lunch lessons

After lunch, we head to our next class, Fairy Portals, with Professor Marigold, who is also a fairy. She has a bubbly attitude and goes over the syllabus with us. This lesson is going to be fun since you can only create portals if you have enough magic, which I know I have. It will be interesting to learn all about portals since there isn't any information at the library back home that is available unless you have gone to an Academy and passed. The lesson goes quickly, and we head off to our next one and find our seats. The teacher enters, and she gives me a quizzical look, which is odd since I don't believe I've ever met her before. She reaches the front of the class and says, "My name is Freya, I am a fairy, and I will be teaching you the Magics of Fairy. We will go over how Magic came into the world and how it is restored through the Earth itself. You will learn how your own magic works and how it is also restored. Every Fairy is different, has different forms of Magic, different ways it works and is restored. Because of that, this lesson will look different from each of you and will take you all on your own journey. I encourage each suite to help your suite mates in any way possible. You may see something that doesn't notice." She continues talking about how the lesson will work until the bell rings. She tells us all to enjoy our day while we leave. She still seems to be giving me an odd look, but I head out to my next lesson and forget about it since I see Delphine and her friends glaring as I walk by. I haven't had a lesson with them since before lunch, so they must have Magics of Fairy after me.

The girls followed behind me to our last lesson before training with our Kingsguards in silence. We are all starting to get a little tired after our first day with all the excitement and drama so it will be nice when we can relax. We enter the last lesson and take our seats. The teacher arrives a few seconds later and greets us all "Hello students! I am Professor Forrest, your favorite Fairy, I'm sure!" The class giggles, and he continues on."I will be teaching you all about the history on the Isles of Fairy! It's such a fascinating story, and I know all of you will love it! Let's go over the books you will need to get at the library for class and the expectations for how long we will be going through each book." We do that, then he takes us to the library to grab our books, and we all head back to get into the first chapter. We are starting with the history of Dravenswood Isle since it's where the Academy is located. There is a book for each Isle, and I can't wait to learn about each one! As soon as I finish the first chapter, the bell rings, so I pack up to head out. The girls follow behind, and we see Kingsguard Conroy outside the room waiting for us. He greets us and says, "I'll be taking you all to training today, but we expect you ladies to get there on your own going forward. Each week, you will be training as a group with a different Kingsguard since we have jobs to do as well. Let's get moving." We all follow after and end up outside on the opposite side of campus from the dorms. We stop at the edge of the woods where Kingsguard Conroy instructs us to set our bags down. He has each one of us display what forms of magic we have. Lucy shows off her strong water powers. After that, Ivy shows that she has strong wind magic. Following with Poppy's show of water magic and a strong animal affinity. I finish with a whole show of multiple magics that I have taught myself through the years, which leaves everyone gaping, even Kingsguard Conroy looks surprised, so I speak up. "I honestly don't know what all I have an affinity for, but I've taught myself a lot from my local library." Then Lucy speaks up with "Oh my gosh Aurora, that was incredible! I didn't realize you could do so much, I mean, I've seen you use so many different types of magic, but I've never really thought about it." I start to blush as Ivy and Poppy begin gushing over me too. Kingsguard Conroy clears his through to silence everyone and says, "Okay ladies, we will be working on strengthening your magic and testing everyone on all the types of magic so we know what all we are working with. I think today was enough excitement, and I need to speak to the other Kinsguard. We will continue this training tomorrow. I will see you here after your lesson ends." We grab our bags and start heading towards the cafeteria so we can have dinner. I'm sure everyone else is as exhausted as I am, so we will have to get dinner instead of making it in our suite ourselves. Luckily, we don't have much to work on for our lessons, and hopefully, that will continue throughout the year. The walk is super quiet and slow, but once we make it to the cafeteria, I'm relieved to see it relatively empty. Also no sign of Delphine and her friends, I'll have to ask Poppy about them when we get back to our suite. I follow after the girls to wait in line for our food, which goes by quickly. As soon as we sit down, we all start eating and don't bother talking. We definitely need food first. I've got some things on my mind, so as soon as I'm done eating, I speak up. "I feel like we have a lot of information and gossip to go over from today. Should we head back to our suite and talk there?" Everyone agrees, so I wait for them to finish their dinners and collect the trash, then go throw it away.
