6. Dramatic departure

1214 Words
The walk back to my house with Lucy was quick, and soon, we were walking into our parents in a full-blown argument. As soon as they noticed us, they stopped arguing and turned to us. My mom said, "We are sorry you had to see that, but we are just shocked that you both got into Bryxton Academy and will be moving to Dravenswood Isle for the school year. We really didn't think you two would be that far away, and it has been an eye opened for us. You two are so smart and powerful, and we know you will succeed with anything you put your hearts to." All the parents nod in agreement, but I get a feeling they are upset about something else, I just don't know what yet, but I'll find out eventually. Dad stands up and says to me, "You better start packing, and we will get some dinner on the table. We might as well take this opportunity to enjoy one last dinner with everyone here before you two are off to school!" And I respond with "Okay, Dad, sounds good." Then Lucy and I make our way up to my room. We get into my room, and Lucy Exclaims "well, that was weird! They are definitely hiding something." As I head over to my closet and packing some clothes I respond with "Oh yeah, the are hiding something but with the way that conversation with my parents went this morning we aren't finding anything out easily. We are going to have to find out enough about what they are hiding and conront them about it then." She agrees and says,"Good thing we will be at Bryxton on Dravenswood Isle, that's probably the best place for information if you think the Royals are involved." I finish up with packing, and we decide to go downstairs for dinner, and Lucy will head home after so we can both get a good to bed early since we have to head out by 7 am. Dinner is a calm event with everyone just trying to enjoy eachothers company before we go to Dravenswood Isle. Mom and Dad get teary eyes while we say goodbye to Lucy and her parents. We spend so much time together that we are all like family, so I'm sure everyone will miss us both. I'm so lucky to have Lucy going on this journey with me, I don't know what I would do if I had to say goodbye to her too! Once they leave, we get dinner cleaned up and say goodnight to each other. I had a restless night of sleep because there was so much on my mind. I remember that I had a few different dreams. Some even involved the Queen and King! I don't remember many details, but I'm sure it was inspired by all the things that happened during the past few days. As soon as I wake up, I meditate to relax from the dreams and get out of bed to begin preparing for the day. I get dressed and ready quickly and magically trail my bags behind me as I head downstairs. My parents are already talking to Lucy and her parents. We decided last night that Lucy and I would leave together once Kingsguard Conroy arrives to escort us to the dock. There's a knock on the door, so I go to answer it, thinking it will be Kingsguard Conroy, but it happens to be Claude. I've been so distracted, and I completely forgot to tell him that I got into Bryxton Academy! As soon as the door is fully open, Claude pushes his way in, and without noticing anyone else, he begins to vent, "How could you not tell me you got into Bryxton Academy? How the hell do you expect me to just wait around for you all year? I can't believe you could be this selfish! I need you to tell them you aren't going, you must stay here with me so we can have a future together." As he says this, he grabs my arms so hard that it feels like I will get bruises. My dad steps in and gives Claude a slap with his magic while stating, "How dare you speak to my daughter with no respect for her and grab her like that! You will apologize and never do that in this house again!" Claude finally notices everyone and turns bright red while, takes his hands off of me and responds with,"I - I'm so sorry. I just got so upset that Aurora would be leaving and didn't know how to react." I got a sinking feeling in my gut that he wasn't as nice as I thought and remembered the conversation I heard between him and his dad and decided I needed to end things now. Before Claude can say anything else, I speak up. "Claude, I'm going to Bryxton Academy, and we need to break up. A long-distance relationship isn't going to work, and I will need to focus on my studies anyway." Everyone just stares at me, and before Claude can respond, I begin pushing him towards the door because I know he isn't going to react well once he's realized what's happened. I open the door right as Kingsguard Conroy is about to knock and end up pushing Claude right into him. Claude turns around to start yelling at Kingsguard Conroy but realizes who he was pushed into before he can say anything. "Hello everyone, looks like you are ready to head out! Do you have some friends joining you at Bryxton Academy?" Kingsguard Conroy says while eyes Lucy and Claude. I speak up before Claude can speak. "Just my friend Lucy, Claude was just leaving." We all turn to Claude, causing him to sputter, and without another word, he turns around and leaves. I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. Lucy jumps in and says, "Looks like it's time for us to head out!" Kingsguard Conroy responds by saying,"You must be Lucy, and you are correct. Let's get to the docks before the ship has to leave." We say goodbye to our parents with lots of tears and hugging, then head off. The walk to the docks is uneventful, and we are able to get onto the ship without much difficulty. Since we are with Kingsguard Conroy, we get a nice sized room to relax during the journey to Dravenswood Isle. We will arrive in Dravenswood in the morning and spend that day and night in town. The next morning, we will head to school and have orientation the day after. I've never been to Dravenswood Isle, so it will be fun to explore a little. Lucy and I spend some time exploring the ship, and I pay attention to the other students we will be going to school with. I don't recognize anyone, so they must all be from the other village. Now that I think of it, I don't know anyone from my village who has been chosen to attend Bryxton Academy. This sure will be an adventure! Once we get tired of checking out the ship, we head to our room and go to sleep for the night.
