A gunshot hit my thigh. (As I started screaming in pain, I fell and rolled three times on the ground.) “Stay right there, partner.” As I looked up, I saw a light-skinned male with long brown hair and a mask. “You got me, I’m out of bullets anyway why have you been bothering me?” The brown haired guy chuckled “Bothering you?” As he lifts his arm up and aims his gun at me, he then pulls the trigger…. (Phone Buzzing) As I jumped out of my dream, I checked my leg immediately to see it was fully intact and healed. I let out a sigh of relief as I said, “It was a dream that felt too real,” as I looked over. “Oh, s**t my phone.” As I grabbed it, the phone call ended. I call the person back…1st ring…2nd ring… “Hey ViVi.” V: "What's up, Garry?" G: "Bro, I know you got that VR Game." V: "What VR game? I don't even have VR." G: "Oh, well, look online, everyone is playing that game. There's even a ranking system and every week or month one of them. If you're in the top 1,000, you got that green." V: "I don't know, that sounds sketchy." G: "Funny for you to say, it's way harder than it seems each and every day, there's new people then the Vets who already played the game demos have an advantage, speaking of which I have a extra VR I could use a partner." V: "When in the hell did you find another VR headset." G: "I been had it, remember Harris?" V: "Yeah" G: "Got it from him, he said he kept on getting his account banned." V: "I don't know give me some time to think about it." G: "Alright ill hit you up later I gotta increase my rank." Garry hangs up V Thoughts: *A first person headset shooter game, Garry is crazy. How can he even play a game like that well then again* As a flashback pops into my mind of me and Garry playing shooting games as kids Kid V: "Wow Gary you got some sick senses, huh? Kid G: "You know, I think it's because I have quick nerves. My parents told me that at least whatever that means other than that you're a quick learner, Vivi, it's getting harder to kill you." Kid V thoughts: [You know what a quick learner is, but not quick nerves?] Kid V: "I'd say I'm just good at adapting but you sheesh your like a turret that has perfect aim." kid G: "Thanks, but it's just a game the characters can't move like an actual person so figuring out their moves isn't as difficult it's not like they can move their head without moving their body too. But if I'm going to be honest here, I love being alone, but I wouldn't mind being on the same team as you." Kid V raised his eyebrow. Kid G responded with, "I mean you keep me on my toes and I have to keep thinking steps ahead and I want the first time you kill me to be special. So you can bet that I don't plan dying to you ever." End of flashback kid V Thoughts *Maybe I should give it a try, but ill need to watch the videos. Hopefully he sent them, *Vivi goes to grab his phone and check his text message.* (No notifications.) Son of a b***h HE FORGOT! The next 3 days passed by. Garry came by yesterday and dropped off the game. I'm still questioning if I should play it. My phone buzzes. I get up out of bed to go check it. It's a text message from my cousin. It reads: "Vivi, I need money for rent, can you help out in some way?" Vivi thoughts: (You have got to be f*****g kidding me!) Well, no point in not trying it now. I open up the room door and head downstairs. and there's the VR Headset. It looks like a helmet with a visor in blue and black. I grabbed it and brought it back to my room, but I need to eat before I go to fantasy war After eating chicken nuggets, I put on the headset then my body go limb. Episode 1 - How did he talk me into this? As I wake up i'm falling through the sky, screaming through the air, then landing in water. First, choose your archetype: Sniper, Assualt, Heavy, Scout, Support, or Zoner. Zoner hmm interesting... you know for your type of player, you seem to be an assault rifle type of guy are you sure? Yes or No.....Yes alright, welcome to Up The Ranks. A white flashing light blinds me as I shield my eyes. Once I open them again I'm in a wasteland I look around but see no one. [Beep Beep] Player can you hear me and actually speak unlike all those other idiots "you can hear me?" Yes, damn, most of you don't pay attention. There is an earpiece placed on every character that plays this game, it's basically guidance along your journey. Some people have different earpieces and some don't. And if you change your earpiece you'll have another voice helping you along the way. "Thanks for the information, do you have a name?" It shouldn't matter to you, your only move right now is getting to a safe place. This is a wasteland as you can see but that doesn't mean anyone isn't lurking anywhere. I'll set your destination. "Thanks." Don't think me yet actually manage to not die. Vivi thoughts: (Don't gotta be so uptight.) A arrow pops up showing me where to go, so I followed. The person on the earpiece didn't say much. The walk was quiet, however I went into a forest, as I entered more and more into the forest, gunshots could be heard This is Gunfare Forest. Many heroes died in this forest, even some useless hosts I used to guide. Now it's like every host I help can't even get past this damn forest. I can only listen, I'm paying attention to every sound that could be heard, watching every corner. I don't even have a gun yet, it's too early for me to die. Hey, You there?.....Hello? ........Newbie? Oh heh heh heh okay you caught on to my trick perfect, Now listen closely, I scanned the area already there is a 3 people way ahead of you and 4 dead bodies, 2 are a far distance away from you and the other 2 are near their surviving buddies that are on ground. Vivi Thoughts: (So two on the ground must be assault as for the 1 survivor, she didn't cover the distance, could it be a sniper in a tree?) I try to move slowly to avoid any tree branch or grass, then it hit me. (It's too quiet she's why hasn't she said anything? Wait, could the sniper see me!? No, they would've been shot by now, but then what if shooting me give away his position? s**t, this is difficult. It's like a game of who's gonna move first, and if that's not the issue, nothing can be heard.) *Then multiple shots went off.* "That's close to me." After saying that, I go to hide behind a tree, and peek to see where the threat is. Rookie, Dodge *I move my head back behind the tree to hear a bullet scratch the side of the tree where my head was at. Nothing could explain how in shock my body was after hearing the bullet. Vivi Thoughts: (Am I actually gonna die here?) As I slide down into a sitting squat. Heh, that was fast alright now, imma stop messing with you. It was a test. There aren't any enemies around, but there are 4 dead bodies. However, their deaths aren't really fatal yet... but you can loot their bodies. Once their actual character respawns, the corps become a zombie at night and let's just say you're not ready for that yet. "Wait, that was all you?" Yeah, you were quiet and well, the enemies saw each other shot and ran away. I basically told you what happened 2 minutes before you showed up and used the sounds I scanned to figure out what happened. Vivi Thoughts: (Guidance or a damn demon? I almost had a heart attack.) Anyway, you can loot the 2 bodies close by and head to the city. As I went up to the 2 dead soldiers. One had a silver revolver and the other had a submachine gun [Kriss Vector]. I grabbed them both and continued on my journey in the forest and found a dirt road. The woman in my earpiece started speaking again. Hey, I don't know how you managed to tune me out in the forest, but that's impressive. "I started off in a wasteland and had to go through the forest. It's obvious there was going to be trouble in the forest, so responding to you means it would've given away my spot and I would've been the target." Also, do you remember the gunshot sound? "Yeah." Keep that sound at the back of your head as triggering as it may be I must say there are rules to this game and even unwritten rules. "Unwritten rules in a shooting game." Yes, to start off, everyone has a death counter. Once you die, the Vr will shut off by itself, and you'll be sent to the real world. The wait penalty increases the more you play the game. First it starts off as 1 hour, then 4 hours, then 1 day to 3 days to a week, then a month. "That by itself is scary for a game." Oh complaining now are we you haven't even gotten to a gun fight yet, i'm still surprised you haven't died yet. "Gee thanks for believing in me." Now the Unwritten rules I know there are only-. Before the woman in my earpiece could finish her sentence, I heard something cockback sound like a pistol but loud enough for me to hear. I turned around and saw a figure hiding behind a tree, but wasted no time going towards the city and ran through the bushes and deep into the forest while running I could hear the shots being fired behind me as I ran. You have guns, Why are you so scared to shoot? A white light flashes Flashback: Rookie, Dodge....
