Jake seem to be lost in his thoughts and mistakes he made to get what is rightfully his,his father's company, their properties and to fulfill all his father's wishes after the death of his father Jake's mother showed up with a lawyer claiming that all the property now belongs to her and what hurt Jake was not that the whole property now belongs to her,but the fact that she didn't have  the decency or the respect to even the attend his father's Funeral.During his final days Mr.patterson wished to see his ex-wife  and to speak to her for the one last time.

                       After the death of his father it was difficult for Jake to go through the pain and there wasn't anybody who he knew that he can completely trust.even though there were friends and family consoled him and supported him he knew it was only to a extent and realized that he had to do something for himself , for him to stand himself all alone.

                   Jake used many deviant ways , threatened many people ,used some help of his father's friends to get back his company that his father rightfully worked for, and threatened his mother to stay out of his way.But he knew that women would never understand one day or the other she is going to come back after him begging or threatening for money . Sometimes he questioned himself that was the reason for their parents marriage falling apart. if the  12 year  old Jake hadn't confronted his mother,all of this would have never happened maybe they could have lived together.

                   Though his father  was decited in the name of love he always said and wished for jake  to find his true love and said to believe in the universe what rightfully and truthfully will always belong to you one way or the other.

                   Throughout his school and college Jake had occasional flings he didn't let anyone get near his heart and always believed that he too would experience the same pain as his father.Before his death his father  said that he might know a woman who can win Jake's heart and insisted to go on a date with her and that she is the daughter of his best friend but Jake always brushed it off, only if he knew that meeting would have changed his life.

                      Would that one meeting could have changed the lives of Erica  and Jake  or  not meeting had made a huge disaster in their lives.....
