"Kinzi don't do that!" I scolded as the young child proceeded to stick crayons in her ears.
I sighed and ran a hand over my face. Today had been unreasonably long and I can't wait to just get home and relax with a good movie and maybe even call Tessa. Wait, no I won't, I want to relax. She makes relaxing hard with her loud personality, but I still love her. I finished cleaning today's lunch choice off of a boys face and I walked over to my desk. I plopped down on my chair and I glanced at the class to make sure they were all still playing nicely and they were. So I pulled out my phone under the desk for a quick update from the world.
Nothing but a few texts showed on my screen, one was from Johnny; he asked what my plans were for Easter. I frowned at the question and I pondered my schedule. I shot him a quick text telling him I would check my calendar and let him know. The next text was from Sam, I bit my lip and opened the next.
Hey Mar hope you're having a good day, whenever you get the chance please call me I want to talk to you about something. X
My throat went dry and my stomach fluttered. I was a mixture of nerves and fluster. What could he possibly need to talk about? Did I do something wrong? What does the X mean? Was it a mistake or did he mean the X? I grumbled and threw my phone back in the drawer in my desk. "Miss.Penney, Tommy said he was going to fart on me!" A whiny little girls said and I pursed my lips and sat up from my desk.
Lord give me strength.

I scanned the children as they ran around for their last recess of the day and I knew parents would be showing up soon so I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed Sams numbers to ease my curiosity of what he could want. The phone rang and on the second ring he picked up, "Mary!" He answered in a chipper tone and I smiled.
"Hi Sam, I got your text, what's up?" I asked as I played with the end of my sun dress that was a shade of yellow.
"Right! Well I was wondering if you could come to dinner tonight at my house? Cassandra is having a small dinner party and I could really use your moral support,"He said and his chipper tone had a hint of desperation in it. I felt sorry for the relationship he had with his wife, it was so broken.
"Definitely! I'm always here for you,Sam," I said and I could practically see his smile on the other line as he thanked me.
"Alright Mar, I'll see you tonight at 6:30," He said and we said our goodbyes and I returned to scanning the playground.
"Hey Mary!" I heard my name and I spun around on my heels to see beautiful brown eyes staring back at me.
"Brenton, I didn't know you started today!" I said as I took in his work appearance. A white shirt and black dress pants. The sleeves of the shirt rolled up to his elbows.
"Yes, well technically next week, but I'm shadowing the teacher till she leaves. Since it's a special needs class I thought it would be best for me to get my feet wet first," He explained and I admired the fact he liked to work with the behavioral class.
"That's awesome, I'm so happy for you," I said and he grinned at me obviously proud of himself as well.
"Thank you, Well I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight? Maybe go see a movie or something?" He asked trying to make up for the fact he had to rain check our date last week due to a family emergency. I completely understood so I wasn't too torn up about it.
"Oo I already made plans for dinner, but you're welcome to come!" I said, "It's a small dinner party and I'd love it if you came with me because I'm only going to know one person there," I chuckled nervously because I now was thinking about the reality of the situation. Sam would be the only one I truly knew at the party.
"I'd love too! I wouldn't be intruding or anything right?" He asked wearily and I quickly shook my head.
"No, absolutely not," I said as I gently touched his shoulder to persuade him more.
"Alright then I'll meet you in the lobby?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow and I smiled.
"6:00" I confirmed and he nodded and said goodbye before walking off to join his students as they began to go inside for the remaining hour of the day.
Just one more hour, I can do this!

I sent Sam a quick texts saying I was bringing a friend and then I proceeded to do my makeup. I kept it simple with the eyes and I did a tinted lip that only darkened my natural pink color. I walked over to my closet and pulled out a red and black dress and set it gently on my bed. I was feeling bold tonight so I chose something a little more revealing. Though I will be bringing a black shaw to keep me warm and to cover up if I get uncomfortable with how much skin I was showing. I couldn't find my strapless bra and I was already running low on time so I decided to nix the bra and just go with my white lace panties.
I slipped on the dress that hugged my body and gave support to my bra-less chest and I stepped into the heels that had a strap around my ankle and I was done. I checked my hair once more and the curls looked good so I made my way down to the lobby. When the elevator doors opened Brenton spun around and I sucked in a breath at how good he looked in his put together grey suit and navy tie.
"You clean up nice," I said as his eyes scanned my body and then landed on my eyes.
"I would say the same, but you always look beautiful," He said and I smiled and took a hold of his arm as we walked to his car.
"Thank you for coming," I said as we walked on the sidewalk.
"Anything for you, Mary," He said with a wink as he opened my door and motioned me in.
Tonight better go well...
