The door swung open to reveal an eager looking Sam. His eyes raked over my body and they turned a dark shade of blue as they did, but the bright warm smile he held dropped once his eyes landed on Brenton. I texted him that I was bringing a friend, did he not see the text? Sam's eyes drifted to mine and they looked different and I couldn't quite put my finger on how he was feeling. "Hi Sam, you remember Brenton? We bumped into him at dinner last week?" I said as I motioned to Brenton behind me and he grinned and leaned forward to hold out his hand. As he did his side pressed in to me and I sucked in a breath at the contact. "Pleasure to meet you,Sam," Brenton said and Sam narrowed his eyes as he shook his hand. "It's Samuel to you, Brandon," He said before letting go of his hand. "Please do come in," He said with lackluster friendliness before Brenton could correct him on his name. What's going on with him? Sam's always nice to people what gives? I'll have to ask him if I get a moment alone with him. We stepped into the magnificent mansion and I had to stop my jaw from dropping. It looked like something out of a magazine...a very expensive magazine. We followed Sam to the sound of multiple voices and when we got to the source my eyes widened. There were about a hundred people in the large room that had a long table in the middle. No one was seated for dinner yet, they mostly talked amongst each other in their expensive clothing. "You remember the guys right?" Sam asked as he approached the group of men from the wedding and I was glad to see familiar faces. I felt a hand on my lower back and I glanced up at Brenton and he looked down at me and I smiled before looking forward again. His hand felt nice on my back, but it didn't have the same effect as Sam's touch does. "Guys you remember Mary?" Sam asked as he motioned to me and they all looked over at me and recognition flashed in their eyes. Ryan raised his eyebrows and eyed Sam, "Oh I remember Mary," He said and Sam glared at him. What's that about? "Oh s**t Brent is that you man? I almost didn't recognize you without that scraggly beard!" Alex said and Breton's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh god I was off in my own world, I didn't even notice you guys!" He said with a friendly smile as he walked over and hugged Alex and then Tyler. Both Sam and Ryan gave confused looks as they watched the interaction. "We went to the same highschool together," Brenton said to me and I raised my eyebrows. Wow what a small world. The men began to get engrossed in their own conversation and Ryan even joined in leaving Sam and I out of the loop and standing silently. I excused myself and rushed off to the bathroom as an escape from the awkwardness. I climbed the stairs and looked around for a bathroom. There has to be at least 5 in a house this big. I opened a third door and my eyes widened as I saw Cassandra slipping on her green dress. The fabric draped off her chest because she hasn't zipped it yet. Her stomach was surprisingly flat for being so far along in her pregnancy. I furrowed my eyebrows and she looked up at me. "Hey Doll can you," She hiccuped," Can you zip me up?" She asked in a sweet voice that slurred slightly. I hesitantly nodded and walked into the room and shut the door behind me. "Just right here," She motioned to her back and I walked over to her and began to zip up the fabric. I could see her reflection in the mirror in front of us and I saw her pick up a bottle of wine and bring it to her pink lips. My eyes widened as I saw her chug the alcohol and finish her gulp with a satisfying sigh. "I f*****g hate having my parents here," She confessed as I smoothed out the top of the dress and stepped aside to let her know I finished zipping her up. "I'm sorry," I said. I wasn't really sorry, but I didn't know what else to say. She shrugged and turned towards me and I could see the maternity dress bunch in her stomach where the extra fabric would have been supported by the baby bump she lacked. "Can you hand me that, Doll?" She asked as she pointed to this contraption on the floor and I grabbed it and handed it over. It was a half circle that had a large elastic band around it. I watched as she picked up her dress till it loosely pulled at her hips and she struggled to shimmy the contraption up her hips. My eyes widened further when she smoothed the dress out over it and I'll be darned she looked pregnant. She looked in the mirror and fixed weird lumps, "How do I look? Do I look almost 5 months pregnant?" She asked and I slowly nodded. "So you aren't really pregnant?" I asked and she laughed. "Of course not! I would never ruin this body," She said as she looked at herself vainly in the mirror. "Sam's too dumb to see it, I mean he's a v****a doctor for f***s sake you think he would know those baby pictures were fake?" She laughed like an evil villain from a movie and swung her red hair down her back. "Oh well I'm due to have a "complication" with the pregnancy soon so all's we'll because I'll have Samuel wrapped around my finger," she shrugged before sauntering out of the room well she stumbled a little due to the glasses of wine she drank. I was shocked beyond belief. Those nurses were right she faked it all! Sam's going to be crushed when he finds out! This is all he's ever wanted, kids, and she's lying to him to keep him around and in a miserable marriage. I quickly rushed into the hallway and I ran right into the man himself. "Woah," He said as He steadied me by placing two strong hands on my hips. I looked up into his eyes and contemplated telling him. I couldn't bare to see the heartbroken look in his eyes if I tell him the truth, but he deserves to know. "Sam-" He shushed me by placing a finger on my lips and pushing me into a nearby guest room. "You're really making this hard for me, Mary," He said and I furrowed my eyebrows and looked up at him. "Don't play dumb. First you come in here with a man on your arm, then you wear that damn dress!" He said as he pinned me to the wall and my confusion only amplified. "Mary, I'm trying to get over you, but your making it awfully difficult," He said as he dragged a finger across my collarbone and I shivered at his touch and all my thoughts flew out the window when his soft lips pressed against the sensitive skin on my neck. A soft moan left my lips and he smirked against my skin. "I've missed you Mar, more than you could imagine. You don't know how many times this past month I've wanted to leave and finish what we started in your kitchen," he breathed against my neck and I let out an erotic moan when his hand drifted up my leg and under my dress. His fingers resting on my bare hip caused my skin to ignite. His lips sucked behind my ear and I wrapped my arms around his neck and ran my fingers through his dark brown hair. I tilted my chin up so he had more room to provoke his sweet torture. His lips grazed my skin as he worked his way to the corner of my mouth. Our lips connected and all my previous thoughts vanished as his lips caressed mine. This kiss was equally if not more passionate than our first and it made me do a total relapse on trying to forget about my feelings for him. His free hand rested on my chest and worked it's way up till it caressed my neck and the tips of his fingers brushed the back of my neck while his thumb gently pressed on the most vulnerable part of my body. The slight choking feeling was a turn on for some reason and it made my stomach clench and knot. His tongue slipped into my mouth and I tried to match his intensity as best as I could but the kiss was making me light headed and my knees weak. His hand that was on my neck climbed till it was on the back of my head and he pulled me closer. The hand on my waist wrapped around my frame and I molded against him. This felt so right, but it was so wrong. He was married! Married to a terrible person. My thoughts drifted to what happened with Cassandra and I remember what I needed to tell him. I pulled away from the kiss and his lips quickly attached to my neck causing my words to come out staggered. "S-Sam," I panted out and he hummed against my neck in reply. "Sam stop, I-I need to tell you something," I said as I gently pushed on his chest. "What," He asked as his tongue swirled on the mark I felt him make. Hopefully it wasn't too dark. I moaned when his breath fanned against the spot but I quickly recovered. "Sam it's about Cassandra," I said and his actions stopped and he immediately pulled away to look at me. "What about her Mary?" He asked with slight irritation in his eyes. I sighed not knowing how to say it, "I-I...um i don't know how to tell you-" "Just spit it out!" He said and the irritation was fully there and It made me bite my lip before the truth erupted out of me. "She's not really pregnant!" I said and his eyes widened in shock and betrayal and hurt mixed in his emotions. "W-what?" He asked in disbelief and he completely removed his touch from me and leaned against the wall in front of me. "Yeah, I saw her-" I tried to explain but he cut me off and looked at me disgusted. "I can't f*****g believe you, Mary! And here I thought you were different then all those gold diggers." He scoffed as the hurt in his face amplified into anger. My face paled, "What?" I asked in a small voice as my heart began to beat and I felt hurt as well. "Now it all makes sense! Coming in here trying to make me jealous and want you back and to trick me into leaving my wife!" His voice raised and I whimper and I took a step back in fear. "No Sam-" I tried again to explain as tears fell freely but he snapped. "You know how much starting a family means to me! How could you! I trusted you Mary, and after all this time you were just acting on your own selfish wants," He scoffed and shook his head and began to walk towards the door. "Get the f**k out of my house," he said in a deep frightening tone and my eyes widen and a sob left my lips. "Sam you aren't listening-" I pleaded but he cut me off again. "Out!" He yelled and I sobbed as I hurried out and he slammed the door behind me causing me to jump and rush for the stairs. I hurried out the door not caring about Brenton right now and I called a taxi on my phone. I'm surprised the man understood me as I spoke through tears. The ride home the man didn't ask if I was Alright. The ride was just quite, filled with the sound of my sniffling nose. I became angry as I thought through what had happened. Did he really think that lowly of me? That I would do something like that? I was just trying to be a good friend and tell him the truth. I became more pissed off then sad and by the time I was at my apartment I had a permanent scowl on my face. Don't get me wrong I was still heartbroken, but if he thought I would do something like that he wasn't worth the tears. I climbed into bed quickly and turned off my phone before curling up and escaped into the dream world where everything was perfect.
