Chapter 28 - The Night (4)

1228 Words
Perhaps, Rydan just wanted to pay her back. For saving his life. The minute that bell was heard, he couldn't move at all, and Rydan was convinced no one could save him. The smoke rushes so fast, aiming accurately at his heart, intends to kill him. But Elleryn moves and stands in front of him, protecting him. He wonders since the minute Elleryn rushes out the hall. Why did she want to save him? He is Suttern after all, if he died, the possibility of Suttern to fall to its doom will rise, and everyone knows it. Because there's no way two people are sitting on the throne after his death. The Twins will have to begin a war for the position of the throne and Suttern will eventually be destroyed. If that happens, isn’t she going to be free? Of him, of Suttern, of everything, Then, why? The minute Rydan decides to go against the Queen in front of spectators, he begins to wonder. Why did she save him? And by the time he followed Elleryn’s siblings to catch up to her, Rydan decided he wanted to save her as well, from whatever possibilities that will occur if somehow she did something out of control. His action of helping her is equivalent to killing his father, the King of Suttern. Rydan sees it all, the way she said those words, seething at his father with narrow eyes and tone so calm yet sharp. As if that was a warning. I told you.  Perhaps, it is a warning.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • •       “I’ll show you the way to the room,” Yoani immediately guided the King and Queen of Qye towards an empty room. The King embraces his daughter within his arm and lifts her off the floor. Following Yoani steps in silence, his wife walks by his side and keeps whispering spells to quicken the process of her daughter healing. Yoani opens the door, quickly brings a thick blanket out from inside a cupboard next to the bed, the King had already put his daughter in bed. Ezana breathes harshly, and sweat keeps trailing down her face, without the need to be ordered, Yoani rushes out of the room and heads to the facility room, wanting to bring cold water and a few other blankets. Avra takes a deep breath before whispering the last spell, she takes a glance towards her husband, whose eyes now are calmer than before. “We-” Leor begins, but nothing comes after that because he still can’t believe everything that's happened just now. Ezana dragon no longer exists. Avra just nodded. She knows everything is going to be hard from now, there’s a chance that Elleryn will start to blame herself, or she will blame the King. Either way, it’s something that both of them don’t want to happen.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • • Aevin stands still. His black coal eyes fall upon the two grown men laying on the ground, not breathing, spilling blood from their hearts as their face is covered with a black cloak. How did they get inside? He believes there's never a single person inside the Hall wearing something like that, he knows because he’s been standing near the entrance since the ceremony started. Not in the least wanted to catch anyone's attention. Not that anyone wants to see him anyway. Unlike him who doesn’t want to catch anyone's attention, his twin brother has been loud beside him since the minute their older brother leaves the room. He is disobeying the Queen. Well, all the people inside the room hear it clearly, all of them. Maybe that is the reason their mother doesn’t try to control her expression, she just sits on her seat with disappointment smeared on her face, biting her trembling fingers, eyes flickering with frustration. Aevin never sees her like this before. Well, the Crown Prince has never broken an order before. “I’m sure both of them are a witch,” Ahron begins once again, his analysis on what the identities of the murderer, their means of doing this and how they could end up getting inside the Hall without being noticed has started about a moment ago. Only a witch and a fairy can utter the spell that means to kill, it’s one of the things that are strictly banned within or outside the Kingdom, there was never a punishment for those who utter the spell because they would end up dead if they succeed, that's the reason why such a case is rare to happen. Unless you can brainwash either a witch or a fairy to do it for you, be willing to die for the sake of satisfying that other person. “Father looks pale,” Ahron said, his dark blue orbs glancing to the middle of the room at the other side, at their father, sitting on the throne with a pale face and wandering eyes. The King never looks like this before, looking so… frightened. “This will be fun,” Ahron whispered, only for him to hear, but Aevin hears it all, and he could only sigh.  • • ⊱∘────·❅·────∘⊰ • • Deair became frozen in place, she couldn’t believe her vision at the moment. She couldn’t believe all that happened within minutes. When a black smoke rushed to her brother and Elleryn stood in front of him to protect her, only for a white creature to jump in front of her, showing its true form and die on the floor. She can’t say anything, but she feels something deep inside her heart. Hurt. For this dragon right here, are the dragons that Elleryn has talked about, her sister’s dragon. Deair takes a deep breath before she takes a little step towards the dragon, she takes off the white royal robe she wears and covers the dragon’s body with it, shielding it from the world. It's too gruesome to see and she would need to be clean later on, for her burial. “I can’t believe you sacrifice a royal robe to be tainted by dragon’s blood, people are watching sister. I don’t want to be ashamed because of you like this,” Lorra seethes from her side, glowering at her before she turns to walk away. But her steps falter. “You better wish it’s not your blood next. Don’t you see it just now? How does Elleryn look at father? Are you blind to recognize the way father flinched afterward?” Deair shakes her head in disbelief as if reprimanded her sister of what she has done wrong or couldn’t notice. Lorra grits her teeth. “You should watch your tongue in front of me. Because I will always be on her side, no matter what,” Deair said, tone cold before she decides to turn her head and look at her parents. Look devastated and frightened, The King and The Queen. Her Father and Mother, she had now decided to turn against.
