Chapter 6 - The Birthday.

1295 Words
The week had been fairly quiet. The dream hadn’t returned. My mom had begged for details of the run. She was trying to live through me I’m guessing. There wasn’t much to tell her. The birthday party was soon and after the graduation ceremony loomed. My mom was right that meeting these people were starting to change how I felt. Madison was closely becoming my best friend. My phone blew up when she wasn’t around. Declan had asked me a million times if I was still coming to James and Lee’s birthday. Lee rarely let me go anywhere in the school alone. Insisting he walk me to class and making faces anytime James looked at us. It made me giggle. My mom took me out to pick a nice outfit for the birthday. Angelica tagged along wanting to dress me for the alpha. She had read too many steamy novels. We flipped through dresses and nothing looked appropriate. It was either too sl*tty or too prom like. “I should just wear a sun dress!” I was growing frustrated. “No! It needs to be classy and sleek so when he rips it off you, it’s just one swift motion!” Angelica’s eyes glisten. My mom and I stared at her. “There will be no ripping Angelica.” My mom said in a stern tone. I flipped and saw a plain white dress, it had beading at the bottom and I felt so attracted to it. “This with my light denim jacket!” I pulled it out and my mom did her ooos and awes at it. Angelica was disappointed. She was hoping we were going to the met gala and James was going to suddenly fall in love with me, rip my dress off, and f*ck me right on the steps. “Sorry to disappoint you Angie!” She scrunched her nose at me. Absolutely hated to be called Angie. Once home I started to get ready. I wanted to look perfect. I knew I was going to have to stand next to Madison all night and she was going to be dressed to the nines! My mom came in to do my hair and pulled out a beautifully beaded head piece. “This was mine on my senior prom. I just want you to look amazing tonight.” She sniffled as she placed it in my hair. I was starting to feel odd about this. It seem like my family was trying to give me away. I got up and my mom jingled the keys. I laughed, she very much wanted to be apart of everything. I was starting to not mind letting her be. We pulled up to the pack house. Balloons were all around the door way. I snickered to myself. James must’ve hated this. Lee was probably in love with it all. “I’ll be back to get you at nine ok?” My mom said and I gave her a nod. “Unless you want to go early, then please call me.” She had a sense of concern. “I promise I will call if anything happens and I want to leave.” I looked at my phone that hadn’t stopped buzzing for a minute. Madison was waiting impatiently for me to arrive. I got out of the car and gave my mom a wave. I made my way to the door. It was the first time I got to be in the pack house and I was so excited. Madison greeted me with a hug as soon as I entered. We walked down the hall and Madison was talking, but I couldn’t concentrate on what she was saying. Something had a hold of my chest. “Are you ok?” Madison said grabbing my hand. “You look like you’re going to be sick.” She looked very concerned as she felt my forehead. “I’m fine. Just a weird feeling in my chest.” I said taking a deep breath. “Oh… oh no…” Madison took a step back and looked at me. “What?” I looked at her and she held my hand. “Ok you’re acting weird.” I said to her as I pushed the doors into the party. Just then the room felt like the air was sucked out. I fell to my knees as they grew weak. No… Not now… Love was a stupid concept… The mate bond was not a true thing… I looked back at Madison who had a smile on her face, she knew exactly what was happening. I looked around at everyone looking at me. I stood up grabbing onto Madison’s hand. I didn’t look back into the room. I took off in a run out the door. “Hannah wait!” I heard Madison call to me. I felt someone grab me and my skin erupted in electricity. I grew weak again, tears rolled down my face. I wasn’t sure if I was sad or if I was happy. The feeling was so overwhelming, I was so weak, it felt like my body was exploding. I couldn’t take this feeling and I past out. My feet burned. I looked around the same scene. The pack house was burning. I lifted my arms and examined the tattoos. My mind remembered the man, I turned and saw him on the rubble, I ran to him. The man looked like a much older James or Lee. He was covered in blood. I reached down grabbing his hand. He started to mouth words but I couldn’t hear them. Just then I woke up. I sat up gasping for air. Madison jumped and screamed. Declan steadied her. “What happened!? Where am I?” I looked around. “You’re in the guest room. The guys went to get the pack doctor. As soon as they touched you, you past out.” Declan said with his hand on a very concerned Madison who had been visibly crying. “They?” Who had touched me? Who was my mate? I couldn’t feel any certain connection. “James and Lee caught you before you could get too far. Where were you going anyways?” Declan asked. “She felt the mate bond and she tried to leave. I think it was too overwhelming of a connection or something it was just scary!” Madison erupted into tears. I sat there confused. “I KNEW IT!” Declan exclaimed patting himself on the back. “I knew you were James fated mate! The moment he felt a shift in the pack and ran down the street! Future Luna, I pledge me allegiance to you.” Declan bowed his head and lightly laughed. “Excuse me future what?” I stood up and tried to walk but my legs felt like jelly. “Luna.” James stood in the door way. My eyes locked into his. My body felt like it was melting. This couldn’t be. James was a absolute a**hole. Why would the Moon Goddess choose me to be the future Luna and to a guy who was a absolute d**k. James walked over and took my hand. “I’m sorry for how we first met. I was struggling because I always thought Madison was my fated mate. When I saw you that day. I was mad at the Moon Goddess.” I pulled my hand away and groaned. My body craved his touch and my skin hurt to deny it what it wanted. “This can’t be right. You hate me.” I said and James shook his head. He expression was soft. Lee entered the room and walked straight to me. He grabbed my face and kissed me.
