Historia doesn't know what this man was talking about her coming around. As much as she wants to save this man, she didn't want to die too.
"I'll help you get out of here. Just don't kill me," she told him but he only snickered. She gazes at her father with glossy eyes. "Let him go, father. Y-You don't want to mourn two people on this day." Her lips were shaking.
When Henry closed his eyes, she thinks her father will do as the man said but to the least she expects, her father signals the men around him to shoot.
Immediately, her eyes were flooded with tears and they started shooting at them. She closed her eyes and waited. She waited for a bullet, to feel pain and her demise. She can't even hear anything and snapped her eyes open only to see those electric blue eyes on her. They were beautiful and they enchanted her.
"What are you?" she didn't notice those words escaping her mouth. He didn't answer and in the snap of his fingers, they were out of that room.
Historia thought she was safe but instead found herself on top of a building, holding onto the man's hand with two of hers so she doesn't fall. She locked her glossy eyes on him, and as she does, she saw his cuts and wounds healing on their own. Has she been fooled?
"What are you? What do you want?" she asked again, this time with the intent of knowing.
"Just know I'm not human," he answered, grinning devilishly at her. "I also want you," he added.
"Me?" Her forehead creased. "There's nothing useful about me if you mean getting back at my father and his team!"
"Ah human," he rolls his eyes in distaste.
"I swear!" she cries. "If you want I can give you the free pa--"
"Why would I need that?" he asked, bringing his bloody face closer to hers while he pulls her to him. "I only need you to choose that's why I brought you here."
"Wha-What do y-you me-mean?" she stammers, looking at how high she'll fall if he lets go of her.
"I came into your lowly world because I need my bride," he replied.
"Then I'll help you find her! I promise!"
"I already found her."
Historia's face brightened.
"That's good! Then I'll take you--"
"It's you," he cut her off.
All of the light in her face slipped away, her eyes large. She can't seem to process what he just uttered. It's you. Me? How is it me?
"I-I don't get--"
"Just choose, human!" He gritted his teeth and the moment she saw those fangs coming out, she knew she should've just let him be killed there. "I'll spare you and be my bride or say no and I'll drop you here."
Historia's breathing heaved again. But how? How did she become his bride when she hasn't even met him anywhere? She does not even date!
Will it be better if she just dies right here? Will her father regret his decision of ever shooting at her when he finds her dead? She wanted to know.
"H-How did I become your bride?" she bravely asked him.
"You're wearing my mother's ring," he replied.
The ring her mother gave her on the last night before she died. She gazes at the simple ring on her finger. How did her mother get a hold of it? Could they be siblings?
"My mother gave this to me," she mumbles.
"Exactly why you're my bride. Now, choose 'cause I don't have the patience to hold you any longer than I already have."
There's a lot Historia needed to know. Her mother's death, how she got this ring, and why was she put in this situation. She needed answers to these questions she never asked.
"Give me time to think," she demanded.
It had his brow raised.
"You dare ask for a little time?"
She swallowed hard before answering.
"Yes, I need three days."
"No. I'll give you a night."
"Three," she retorted, her chin up. Suddenly, her mother's voice echoed into her mind, 'don't get into their bad side'. She already said it. "I'm your bride. You should decide wisely whether to kill me over three days."
"Trying to manipulate me doesn't work," he uttered and before she could react, he lets her go.
Falling from a high place on a cold night was one of her options before. She always wanted to do it but right now as she is falling, her heart was beating fast. I don't want to die, she tells herself but here she was always pulled back to her parents' madness, to this creature her mother used to tell her.
They were real and one has ended her life. There's nothing else she can do but accept this fate and close her eyes.
Before she could reach the bottom and her body got smashed, sturdy arms had made their way around her body. Her landing was soft and she snapped her eyes open, locking with the same electric blue ones. She couldn't breathe at all.
"Wh-Why?"
"You're my only bride. I'll give you three days and if you run away, you know what I can do."
Historia had a taste of the bad side and when she exhales the fear she felt earlier when she was falling, she fainted in his arms.
Now he was left to stare at his lovely bride's face. Even though he hates women, he knows what was beautiful and what's an eyesore. Ah, but to find out his bride is human. It's a complete mockery of his race.
Should he leave her here? But it's too cold and someone from the lab might see her. It's going to cause trouble and he avoids that the most. Taking her home was the best option.
In her apartment, he puts her down on her bed and tossed a blanket at her. Three days and the throne is sure his.
He was about to go when he noticed a frame on her side table. It was a picture of Historia and her mother. "Your daughter grew up looking just like you," he muttered
