The calm weather had given way to icy cold wind without notice. The woman stood before me chanting and moving her hands, directing the winds and summoning an ice storm. Had I been an ordinary mortal, I would have been buried under ice now. But, as I stood countering her moves, bothering her, disturbing her mental peace, making it hard for her to concentrate, I could not help but look carefully at the woman whose appearance seemed to alter between her current state and that of a supernatural being.
I would have wondered if I were hallucinating, till one of the warriors spoke,"She is an escaped convict. The female vampire who had murdered her family.......the one whose powers had been destroyed.......just how can she....."
