Chapter 1
There is one morning when I get up from my dream world with the most exciting feeling that I ever had. I stretch my body to relieve the stiffness in my body that I got because of sleeping. I opened up the curtain of my window and let the sunshine fill my bedroom. I take a shower with a happy feeling that fills up my heart.
“This would be better,” I said while picking up the clothes from my wardrobe.
My choice is a one-piece dress with a Marie sleeve and with an X shape. I deliberately chose the dress for a reason, because today is the 100th anniversary of Teo and I's anniversary. So I wanted to look different than usual. I deliberately didn't even wear glasses and replaced them with brown contact lenses. I let my hair down with the bucket hat I just bought. It's true, I rarely let my hair down because, so far, I have only put it back in a ponytail.
Who is Theo?
Well, of course, he is my boyfriend. We just started 3 months ago. Teo is the only man who has won her heart and also the only man who has filled the void in my heart. He's the light of my life.
What made me fall in love with him?
Many things could make me fall in love with this man. He is handsome with an oriental face, he is kind and helpful, and the most important thing is he accepts me as I am.
True, the last point is the most important, in my opinion. Remembering that I am not a popular girl who doesn't pay much attention to appearance. If other girls are busy polishing themselves to be prettier, I prefer reading books in the library or reading novels. So it's not strange that I have problems with my eyesight and have to wear glasses. Yes, I am that nerdy girl who carries books everywhere, but I am totally okay with that.
"I wonder how he'll react when he sees me differently today," I said while watching myself from behind the existing mirror.
Until a voice interrupted my reverie and made me quickly grab my backpack and tote bag containing the gifts I had prepared for Teo.
"Carla... Where are you going?" she asked.
"I am going to meet Teo," I replied with a smile that I couldn't hide.
"All right, take care," said Mother.
Oh right, my name is Carla Xanthe Gavrill. I am the only daughter owned by my family, which is none other than the Gavrill family. My mom always supported me in every decision that I made during this time, and also my father. I think my family is the definition of a happy family because we support each other, trust each other and love each other.
My relationship with Teo was already known by my parents and they were totally fine with it. Teo and I do have a long-distance relationship. This is because he had to move because of his parents' job. However, I believe that as long as we both try, this relationship will survive.
It took about 3 hours for me to go see him. Throughout the trip, I was looking at the surrounding scenery through the train window. I couldn't stop imagining Teo's expression when he saw me.
"I can't wait to see him," I said excitedly.
I got off at the train stop where I immediately ordered a taxi online to go to Teo's apartment. He does not live with his parents, even though the reason for moving to another school is because of his parents' work. I once asked the reason and, if I remember correctly, he said he wanted to study to become an independent man.
Until finally, I was standing in front of his apartment door. I quickly took the cake I had bought earlier and didn't forget to light the candle that said happy anniversary.
I entered Teo's apartment room pin which I had asked for since he first moved in, just in case I wanted to go see him. I slowly stepped into his apartment door where I was surprised by the woman's heels that were near the shoe rack of his apartment. But remembering that today is an important day makes me put aside my thoughts that continue to have negative thoughts. Slowly, I entered the living room of his apartment, where all the positive thoughts that were in my mind immediately disappeared when I saw the clothes scattered on the sofa in the room.
I could feel that my vision was getting blurry because of the tears welling up in my eyes. Vaguely, I heard laughter from someone who was none other than Teo with another woman, which made me try to find the source of the sound.
"Stop it.... Hahaha... You make me ticklish," said the woman.
"Come on baby... Let me try to do it," said Teo.
"Hey... What if your girlfriend saw it," said the woman.
"What are you saying... Aren't you also my girlfriend?" asked Teo.
"Is it true? But I don't want to be number 2," said the woman.
"You are always number one for me dear," said Teo.
"Then when are you going to break up with her?" asked the woman.
“Do you want me to do it? Isn't he your best friend?" asked Teo.
"That's right... I feel bad for her... Should we just break up," said the woman.
"What do you say? I won't let you do it.” Theo said.
"Why? Don't you love her too?" asked the woman.
"But I love you more honey... Besides, I don't want to spend my time with a freak who is crazy about books like her... You are more interesting to me," said Teo.
Hearing what Teo just said made me accidentally drop the cake that had been in my hand which made a sound and made Teo and the woman leave the room.
"Carla," Teo said with surprise.
“It's me,” I said while holding back my tears.
I saw Teo, who was topless and looked surprised by my presence, which let me know that my presence was beyond her expectations.
"Carla, let me explain, okay," said Teo after seeing the cake on the floor.
“Just... Quiet...” I said, unable to hold back the tears that came out and rolled down my cheeks.
What I need now is calmness, right, only my composure because my heart and mind are already noisy with everything that I've heard. Until someone appeared with a blanket covering her body and stood behind Teo.
"Carla... Let Teo explain first... This is all just a misunderstanding," said the woman.
A woman I know very well because of the many memories we made together. I never thought that the woman who I considered a friend and sister would stab me in the back.
"Misunderstanding?!" I said with a little laugh because I felt hilarious about the language that my best friend used.
"Right, this is all just a misunderstanding," said the woman.
"Alexa... If you want him... You should have said it from the start... Maybe I'll give it to you directly," I said, trying to be strong.
"What are you saying?!" asked Teo, who looked annoyed.
"Why? Aren't you enjoying it now?” I asked with a smirk.
I don't know what made me become an arrogant and brave person today. I even feel like a psychopath when I say that. I never wanted to hurt anyone with my words, but today it was as if everything I said was running out of control.
"Don't be rude," said Teo.
"Oh ya? Am I rude? If so, which one is more impudent? Me or the guy who cheated on his girlfriend's best friend?” I asked.
"It's just a misunderstanding Carla... Let me explain it," said Alexa.
“Alexa!! I'm not an i***t! You think I'll believe you after seeing how your looks are right now?!” I said in a rising tone.
I wanted to slap the girl who was standing behind Teo. But remembering the fact that he is the only friend I have makes it hard for me to do it.
"Carla I am sorry... I just can't control my feelings... I love Teo and so he does... I don't want to hurt your feelings, that's why I have hidden everything until now," said Alexa.
“Aa... So you guys have been dating behind me all of this time?” I asked while nodding my head.
"Don't blame Alexa... This is all my fault," said Teo, who was protecting his girlfriend.
"So you know that it is your fault?" I asked.
“I am sorry Carla,” said Teo, which made me lose control and slap him.
