Moments Like SunshineElliot slunk through the hallways after coming home from work. he had been in a daze all during work, he had confessed that he was in love with Randy. He hadn't been in love since José, he hadn't said "I love you" in almost 12 years.
Everyone in the house was asleep, Lizzy had retired early since she had a test in the morning, the parents read themselves to sleep. Blake was spending the night with his girlfriend and Randy had paced himself to exhaustion. He had stumbled over his own feet trying to figure out what you say.
What can you say when your lover suddenly says he loves you then just leaves? Randy had spent hours trying to answer that question.
Elliot slung his tool belt over the hook next to the front door and filled a glass with water and drank it all in one gulp. He ran the back of his hand over his forehead and rubbed away the dirt and sweat. He needed a shower and some sleep.
He tip-toed up the stairs and opened the door to his shared bedroom slowly. He smiled fondly at the curled form of his sleeping lover. Randy always tended to curl into a ball when no one was around to hold him. Elliot shed his shirt and tossed it into the wicker laundry basket in the corner next to the rocking chair. His belt came off and was rolled into a curl and Elliot slid it into his drawer. He grabbed his towel and walked over to the bed, he brushed Randy's brown hair back and kissed his lover’s temple.
Randy hummed, and his eyes squinted open, "welcome home teddy" he smiled sleepily.
"I'm going to hop in the shower, okay? you just go back to sleep"
"No, I'll wait, I want to talk"
That made Elliot stiffen, and Randy snickered lightly, "nothing bad dummy, I just want to talk about this afternoon, go clean up, you smell like the barn on clean out day"
"Nice" Elliot rolled his eyes but smiled and slunk off to the bathroom. He closed the door as quietly as he could and dropped his worm our pants. His legs ached from the labor, he was used to sniper nests and office chairs. it had been a while since he was up and doing hard labor all day. He loved it. He loved feeling useful.
He reached behind the flowery yellow shower curtain and turned the water on as hot as it could go, he'd get a scolding form the old man about running up the water heater, but he'd clean out the loft and it would all blow over. He kicked off his boxer briefs and stepped into the water, sighing loudly at the hot water beating his muscles.
Elliot lathered shampoo through his coarse hair and cracked his neck. He looked down at his body as the water washed the suds out. Thick black hair grew lightly on his chest and covered his legs in warmth.
"Knock knock" Randy called out to Elliot from the door, "can I come in?"
"If you want to sweetheart" Elliot responded. He watched the shadow frame of Randy close the door behind him and take off his clothes slowly. The curtain slid open and Randy faced Elliot with a dark blush reddening his face.
"Like what you see?" Elliot teased.
"Shuddup" Randy stuck his bottom lip out and Elliot smiled, taking Randy's hand and helping him step into the standing tub and relish in the warm water.
"Do you always like to shower in lava?" Randy hissed trading placed with Elliot and pushing his lovers back into the hot water.
"When sixteen years go by in the army with cold or no showers, you cherish the hot ones" Elliot said, and Randy reached up, moving a strand of hair out of Elliot's face.
"Your hair has gotten pretty long, needs a chop"
"Maybe" Elliot wrapped his long arms around Randy's shoulders and pulled him close.
"You don’t have to say it back, I mean I don't even know why it slipped out, it's not like I don't feel that was about you, of course I love you but I know that you haven't had as much time to heal so you might not be ready and--" Elliot was cut off from his babbling with Randy's soft lips crashing onto his.
"I love you too" Randy whispered, "so much Teddy, so much"
"music to my ears" Elliot slid his hand along Randy's jaw and smiled into the kiss. Randy reached behind them to the shower caddy hanging off the faucet and grabbed the conditioner. He squirted some into his hand and lathered Elliot's hair, "Will you come to the house with me tomorrow, so I can get your opinion on some stuff?" Elliot asked, happily soaking up Randy's attention.
"You're building me a house, of course sunshine”
