Kisses like HeavenRandy's hand traveled up Elliot's spine and the older man shivered in delight.
"you know scaring the crap out of me while I’m cooking is not the best idea” Elliot smiled, and Randy wrapped his arms around Elliot's stomach and nuzzled his nose in between the soldier’s shoulder blades.
"You seem happy here, you should move here" Randy halfheartedly joked.
"I'm thinking about it" Elliot said honestly and put one large hand over Randy's on his stomach, "I like it here, it's so peaceful, I could talk to the army about setting up a recruitment center here and I could run it, or be a teacher, I have a teaching degree"
"Elliot" Randy gasped, "I was kidding, I know you have a job back home"
"Do you not want me to stay?" Elliot asked, sadness and disappointment laced in every word that dripped from his thick lips.
"No no no no" Randy pulled Elliot to face him and cupped the taller man’s cheeks, "that's not what I mean, I don't want you just drop everything and come here, this is a small place, you are a big city man, you'd get bored of this small town"
Elliot removed Randy's hands from his face and held them tightly, "Randy, though I have grown very fond of you, I wouldn't be moving here for you, I would be doing it for me, it like it here, the calmness is what I need, the city is too busy, it's too much like my time overseas"
Randy balanced on his tippy toes and pressed a very soft kiss to Elliot's cheek, "if you wanted to move here I will be supportive, I can see if anyone is hiring and if not, you could just help us with the farm"
"With your big family you don't need any more help" Elliot chuckled.
"Believe it or not,” Randy made sure the pasta on the stove wasn't burning, "Lizzy and mom don’t work on the land, my mother works for the Church and Lizzy is still in school, Blake helps when he wants to, so it's mostly my dad and I doing the work"
"We'll see" Elliot smiled and kissed the back of Randy's cheek, "we should go out on a proper date"
"Is this you seriously asking me out?" Randy was a bit shocked, "like really, you want to go out on a date with me? why?"
"What do you mean why? Randy you are so handsome and sweet and I already said I was fond of you, I've honestly grown very attached to you, so yes, this is me officially asking you out on a first date" Elliot grabbed two plates from the cabinets he'd been eating out of for two weeks now and placed them on the small breakfast bar in the kitchen. He set tableware while Randy strained the pasta and tossed fresh cucumber, squash, grilled corn, and grilled spinach into the pasta.
The strange couple ate in peaceful silence, Elliot's hand had cupped Randy's and they smiled softly at each other. Lizzy had come home for lunch and glared at Elliot but said nothing. Randy made circled on Elliot's hand to reassure him that no matter what Lizzy did, she would have no effect on their blooming relationship.
Elliot cleaned up and Randy went to feed the horses and sheep.
"Are you taking him on a date?" Lizzy asked while she leaned against the front door, her backpack in hand as she was ready to return to the high school for her afternoon classes.
"I am" Elliot scrubbed the grill pan, "I know you don't like me or the idea of me dating your brother, but I really like him, and for the first time since José died I can feel myself falling in love"
"McDuffits" Lizzy said.
"What?"
"The place Eli never got to take him to, McDuffits, his favorite restaurant, it's one town over, an hour drive, take him there, tonight, I’ll cover for you guys with ma and pa"
"Lizzy"
"If you can make him happy, and you swear to me you will try your hardest to stay here, then I can be supportive" she smiled happily an closed the door, leaving Elliot to lean against the counter in awe and smile.

"where are you taking me Mr.?" Randy smiled and chuckled as Elliot herded him into the truck.
"Somewhere special" Elliot smiled and, in his hand, he held a crumpled-up piece of paper with directions to McDuffits and a reservation confirmation.
"This is super kid-nappy" Randy joked, and Elliot kissed his lips softly.
"Yep, I’m kidnapping you and I am going to have my way with you"
"Well I have work tomorrow so if you could kindly return me for work hours, I’m sure my boss would much appreciate it"
"Can I have you back afterwards?" Elliot continued with the joke and began to drive.
"Of course," Randy held Elliot's hand, all the way to the restaurant he never got to go to with his first love.

"We're here" Elliot told Randy and Randy looked around, Elliot had parked out back, so the surroundings were unfamiliar to Randy.
"Where are we?" randy asked and opened the truck door, his boots squished on the muddy ground and he looked around some more. He was eagerly trying to figure out where Elliot had taken him for their first date.
"Just take my hand and follow me" Elliot held out his hand once again and Randy too it, his fingers immediately
Randy took his hand and let Elliot lead him into the restaurant, when he entered he gasped and Elliot stopped, showing off the privet booth with roses and candles and Randy's favorite waiter and wine waiting. Randy teared up and pulled Elliot into a warm hug, "this is amazing eddy, this is the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me, thank you"
"Anything for you Randy" Elliot rubbed his hands up and down Randy's back and kissed his jaw softly 7 or 8 times, "anything"
