CHAPTER 12: Monster

“Today was fun, thank you” I lean back to get my school bag that I had thrown over when we first left school “My bags not here Wintyr” I look around but as I turn around I bump into Wintyr who too, was going to look back to help

“OW” I hold my head and his hands reflexes hold my head quickly “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know how big my arms really were, damn I got muscles” He turns the situation into himself again earning a punch in the arm from me “Okay sorry sorry, the maid must’ve taken it out whilst cleaning my car, damn it” He bites his lip in thought 

“Do you mind coming tomorrow-“ “Yeah I’ll pick you up and we can go school” “Ew gross, I was going to say do you mind bringing it tomorrow?” Truth be told I was going to ask him to bring it to me so we could go to school tomorrow but I snapped out of it as I realised I was actually warming up to the idea of Wintyr being my friend 

‘He’s the enemy, never forget Gabriella’ I remind myself then put on my sarcastic smile 

“Okay, I’m leaving, don’t forget my bag” I announce and he kisses his teeth at me “Whatever, I won’t” He restarts the engine as I open the door “See ya pabo” He says as he rolls down the window and I wave at him standing at the pavement “Forget my bag and you’re dead” I say waving with a big smile still and his smile drops 

“Oh Wintyr?” I hear Ruby behind me and I turn to see her in a robe holding the trash

’Since when did Ruby take out the bins?’ My face automatically reacts which she must’ve noticed but still made her way over to us 

“So you’re the one who kidn*pped my sister all day” She smiles and Wintyr smirks looking at me then her “More like she wanted to spend endless time with me, I heard I’m pretty fun” He compliments himself yet again causing Ruby to giggle 

I look away from Ruby rolling my eyes “She’s not wrong you are pretty fun” She giggles even more and I awkwardly smile when she looks my way “Well I’m gonna go inside, see you tomorrow” I wave at Wintyr then turn on my heel “Bye baby” I hear Wintyr say and I snap my head back “I mean-” He clears his throat quickly seeing my reaction “See ya monster! Pabo go, goodnight” I smile at him happier with that nickname then skip inside 

After doing my whole night routine, I was now laying in bed scrolling through Tik Tok when I knew full well I should have been asleep ‘

Your name is now saved as pabo, monster’ Wintyr’s text comes through and I snort when my eyes read the last word ‘Go to bed, don’t forget my school bag enemy’ I type back with a smug grin then shut off my phone "Whatever" I roll my eyes as I felt a bit bothered but I couldn’t pin point what it was ‘I wonder what Wintyr and Ruby talked about when I left….Should I have left? Ugh why do I care?!’ I push my phone under my pillow further and turn the other way to sleep

“Here” I walk up to Wintyr who was leaning on a pole outside school holding my school bag “Thank you, thank you, thank you” I say relived looking inside to check of everything I needed for the day was there “I need my notepad” I say to myself then leave forgetting him there by accident 

“I’m not going to take offence to that” I hear Wintyr say behind me and I stop remembering he waited for me “Sorry, sorry, Ruby is still in the car, thank you” I inform him then walk again but he stops me by holding my wrist 

“I didn’t ask, did I?” He notes me and I look at him properly “Oh right, I’m so out of it” I rub my face taking my hand off his “It’s cool, let's go to your locker then” I frown as he starts to lead the way “I don't feel like saying sorry again, but I really didn't mean to ignore you, it's only cause I felt less organised not having my things this morning” I let him know and he nods but I still felt bad “Let’s get going” He pulls me forward walking me to my locker 

"Where is it?" I rummage inside as Wintyr was stood there leaning on the lockers beside mine “So the annual camping trip is coming up, and I thought of this as a perfect time to get our high chances” I nod at his words still looking through “I’m not going, I hate camping stuff” I find my notebook with a big smile 

“Well you have to go” Wintyr snaps "No I don't" I stuff it into my bag "You do" I stop what I'm doing then look at him “No way are you going to throw me in the wild for no reason, bribe me at least” I tease him as I shut my locker then put full focus on him “I don't have anything for you, you've asked for enough” “Then I’m not going” I go to walk to class but he stops me quickly 

“Okay fine, something with Cole?” I squint my eyes “I’m listening...” “I’ll make sure he doesn’t get with any girls and by the fire pits, I’ll tell you to sit in my seat by him instead” My smile slowly starts to appear “You know me well enemy” I mess up his hair but he was quick to move back 

“Dude” He gives me a 'wtf' look “Sorry” I hold my mouth not caring at all then start to walk with him by my side “You messed my hair up” He whines “It’s always a mess” He doesn’t say anything which makes me feel bad so I stop and walk in front of him 

“Come” I pull him down to my height by his tie so our faces were inch apart “Fixing, fixing” I flick over his hair to a nice position “Done” I smile then look him directly in the eyes which felt weird so I step away quickly “Done” I cough out pulling my bag on my back properly “Thanks” He runs his hands through his hair awkwardly messing up what I had just done 

“You’re fine to get to class yourself right? I just remembered I had to meet one of my friends” He starts stepping back and I nod watching him back away weirdly “Don’t forget to collect the letter for the camp, text me if you can't so I can get one for you” He says quickly and I nod “Bye” I put my hand up then turn to quickly get to first period 

'Something happened, yes but that won't be happening again, eww'

“Find your partners and work on the sheets” I was basically half asleep in med class and since my buddy Katie wasn’t here today, it just made today all a bit worse “Hello stranger” Katie’s chair is pulled beside me and it fills with the one and only 

“Beautiful” I accidentally sigh out “What?” Cole looks at me then I quickly snap out of it “Erm Wonderful, I said wonderful! I have a partner now” Cole chuckles at me trying to cover my mistake “Saw you a little lonely here” I look down embarrassed “You don't have to pity me, you can go work with your friends, I’m fine to work by myself” “Cool” Cole stands up and I look up at him to see if he was being for real. He didn't even try to debate with me

“So you do want me here then?” He smirks seeing my reaction then sits back down “You are my friend too, who I want to work with so don't push me away” He places his hand on my knee which causes me to be hot all over “Let’s get started then, I got the sheets” He shows me then places it down on the table for us to work on for the rest of class
