CHAPTER 13: Hi Five

“I heard you were going to the party on Friday?” Cole starts off as I look up and push my glasses (which I didn't really need) closer to my face “What party?” “Your boyfriend seriously didn’t invite you to the swim pool party?” I look at him for a while too trying to think “I don’t think Wintyr is going, pretty sure he’s grounded” I quickly remember him telling me that his father was pissed off at him cause his grades were falling, he only told me cause Mr Kim wanted to tell me himself to embarrass him 

“So you’re not going either?” I chew on my lip then shake my head “I would be very uncomfortable cause I don’t hang around you people” I fiddle with my pen but his head just tilts “You people?” He highlights that phrase making my mouth open a little cause I didn't mean it as bad as it sounded “Not in a bad way, I meant populars” He nods once still thinking about my words 

“So if we are so popular, how did you end up dating Wintyr? I mean since we are so popular?” He asks a great question throwing me off guard a bit “I dunno it’s- I’ve never seen you talk to him once, you get into a fight and boom you’re dating him, weird right?” My mind goes blank not knowing what to sat from his analysation “I’m just wondering, that's all” He throws me a cute smile as if he hadn’t asked me something so puzzling

“Erm well....” I swallow looking back down at my work “It’s a bit complicated” I just finish “We have time” “Not really cause we have to do this” I point down to our work and he follows my hand pointing “Maybe another day then?” I suggest “Sure” He sits up in his chair “Let’s back to this then” He smiles with a wink make me look down embarrassed “Yeah let’s do that” I agree lowly

Lunch couldn’t come any sooner, I didn’t know why I was so hungry today but I really needed a sandwich “Thank you” I thank the lunch lady who takes my money after I get my food and make my way to our table in the corner “Errr” I notice a familiar head sat on our table back facing me “What’s going on?” I stand at the table and the girls and Wintyr look up at me “Why is he here?” I screech but notice I was getting attention “What are you doing here?” I sit opposite him quickly, whisper screaming “What? Did I do something wrong?” He whispers back confused and I look to the girls questioning them 

“Come on Gabby if you need to sell the act, he can be here” Megan nudges me but I just hear a gasp come from Wintyr’s side “Wait” I look at him “What?” “They know too?!?” My eyebrows narrow at his shocked face “Know what?” He leans in “They know that we are fake dating?” I roll my eyes cause they could still hear him, the table wasn’t even that big “Of course we know i***t, why are you so surprised?” Lily replies with a mouthful of her muffin 

“It’s chill” I reassure him but he just shake his head “My boys, I trust them yet they don’t know, you told them all” “Are you really dumb Wintyr?” I look him dead in the eyes “Did you just call me dumb?” He lifts his head “If you told them then Cole would know, no?” He stops then thinks “Oh yeah true” “So you are dumb” I clarify and he just pouts which was kinda cute 

wait what-

“OH MY GOD WINTYR DID THEY KIDNAP YOU?” We all look up to see the mean girls of the school rushing towards our table “What are you doing with these people Wintyr?” Bailey asks Wintyr who just stays quite like the rest of the cafeteria 

“What are you guys doing here?” Wintyr speaks up but Kayla just giggles “You’re hanging with nerds” She comes behind Lily and pushes her forward into the table “Oh my, so sorry” She pretends as if she hadn’t done that on purpose “I saw you looking at Jaden, don’t do that again little girl” She pulls Lily’s hair out her ponytail making my eyes widen “What do you guys think you’re doing?” I shout back, 

'Why isn’t Wintyr saying anything?!?' 

“It was a simply accident jeez louise” Alice, one of their other friends takes Lily’s scrunchie from Kaylah then drops it on the ground “Fetch” She says still looking at me and my fists ball up in anger, 

I knew my best friends hated confrontation especially with them cause it would cause trouble but Wintyr was right here, their own friend, and my supposed boyfriend and he was letting them step on my friends like it was nothing

“Take him” I stand up in anger and feel Megan take my wrist to stop me “Leave” I look down at Wintyr who looks at me in shock “What?” He says in surprised and I peak up at the mean girls grinning at the scene “You want him back right? Take him, go with them and don’t come back here” I huff out then sit back down facing Megan to help calm me down “It’s okay” I look at Lyra mouthing to me but then at Lily who was on he verge of tears 

“Wintyr I think your little toy is breaking up with you” They taunt and I bite my tongue “Gabriella” He calls my name but my eyes stay trained on Megan 

“Is he still here?” I ask even though I knew he was still sat there and after a while he takes his bag angrily but rather than following them he just storms out the cafeteria “I hate him” I say aloud watching the girls laughing and hi-fiving themselves as if they had succeeded a mission 

“No you don’t hate him” Megan corrects me but I shake my head watching a familiar girl running out just after Wintyr but I didn’t pay much attention to it “I always have and always will” I look to Lily sadly as Lyra gets up to pick up her scrunchie 

“Don’t look at me like that, I’m fine” Lily smiles through her tears taking another bite from her muffin to show she was fine “They’re all sons of bitches” I state making her chuckle “You can say that again” Lyra goes behind Lily and helps her tie her hair back with one of her own hairbands “You should wear your hair down, I’m sure Joel would love it, you look beautiful, if anything the b***h was helping you” Megan adds and we all nod agreeing “I can’t believe she thought I was looking at Jaden” Lily rolls her eyes “I know right, you have taste, he’s just for every single girl” She states and we all agree

She was getting better, a very strong girl and I was proud at her for not reacting cause if that was me, I would be suspended for 2 months 

“He’s such a prick, so much for being my boyfriend” I sigh out looking at my food, I wasn’t even hungry anymore “His other girlfriend just ran after him. Did you really just end it cause of the populars?” I roll my eyes at Lyra’s question “I didn’t end it, did I?” I look at Megan and she shrugs “He seemed pretty pissed and his ex just exited the room so if they do something right now, it’s pretty much over” I bite my lip then stare ahead over Megans shoulder to Cole “That was his ex?” I ask now very worried

“Well I wasn’t really ready for it to be over but it’s whatever” I mutter even though I was bummed “I’m sorry Gabby, I know how much this was making you happy” I look at her weirdly and she clears her throat quickly “I mean like getting closer to Cole and everything” I open my mouth realising what she meant then nod slowly 

“You’re right, I’m pretty bummed but surely I have to say I’m breaking up with you, to actually break up, right? I’ll talk to him but not right now, I’m pissed at him, how could he not even stand up for us?” They giggle at my rant and I scowl 

“You guys are being too nice to him, he wouldn’t have sat here if you said something!” I shout at them then cross my arms over my chest “I don’t know he’s pretty funny” My eyes widen at Lily’s words “What she means is, he doesn’t seem to want to get involved with their bullshit, maybe he wanted to ignore them like we were doing” I calm down a bit realising they might’ve been right “Whatever” I huff not wanting to be wrong “He’s still a prick” I state wanting to have the last word

“Lunch is about to end, go find him” Megan nudges me as I zone out for the fifth time “Who?” “Wintyr” I look at the other to who look at me in hope “Fine but I’m not apologising” I stand with my bag “I’ll see you girlies after school” They nod proudly at my actions and I turn to leave the cafeteria with a few stares on me 

“Where’s this prick then?” I turn the corner and see Wintyr and a girl who was his ex probably, exiting a janitors closet “oh my god” I gasp then slam myself on the wall round the corner praying they didn’t see me “Oh no” I put my hand over my mouth ’So he really still likes his ex?’ I cry to myself for a second then straighten myself up as the bell sounds ‘Whatever, who needs Cole?’Defo not me' I start to walk to my next class then frown not convincing myself at all ‘Meee...I need Cole’ I whine in my head biting my lip ‘Why did I overreact?’ I beat myself up as I make my way into the class that coincidentally me and Wintyr had together next  

“Ugh” I slam my head on the table ‘No this is a good thing’ I drop my bag on the floor ‘Maybe you and Cole weren’t mean to be duh’ “Right” I answer myself aloud ‘Let’s just get through this lesson, I’m sure Wintyr wouldn’t even be attending since he is too occupied, lucky me'

“Mr Kim!” Our teacher stops talking announcing the student who had waltz into his lesson 10 minutes late 

“What a pleasure to be finally graced with your presence, if I was correct your grades are dropping but attending class is also something you still can’t do” He insults Wintyr who’s nose just flare and without a word he makes his way next to me roughly sitting down 

“Get your textbook out we are on page 137” The teacher informs him and goes back to reading ‘why does he have to be so harsh?’ I wonder looking at the teacher then peak to Wintyr who takes his pens and notepad out but I was sure he did not have his textbook ‘I don’t want him to get in more trouble’ No matter how much Wintyr had messed up and don’t get me wrong, I was still pissed, I shift my textbook to the middle and point to where we were so he could follow 

“We are here, you can copy what I have so far” I show him my notes but he looks at me slightly shocked “What?” I take my glasses off “Nothing, I didn’t know you wore glasses” I shrug “Yeah I do sometimes” I whisper back and go back to copying the rest of the notes from the board “Thanks” I hear him say but I just nod and continue with the lesson
