CHAPTER 9: Starbucks

the next morning 

“Hey” I answer my phone as Wintyr’s unexpected call comes onto my screen “Where are you?” I look at the big Starbucks sign at me causing me to feel nervous “Erm why?” I bite my lip walking through the door, a gentle hand holding it open for me “Thanks” I smile at the person and focus back on Wintyr  on the phone “Sorry why?” “Erm cause I was waiting for you outside school when I saw Ruby’s car pull up but you didn't come in with her” I ‘oh’ waiting at the side before going to order 

‘Cole’s present, I didn't really know what he liked but we seemed to have one thing in common we both like Starbucks so I decided to walk to school today' I wanted to say but I knew it would sound so nerdy so i just settled with

“You should know that me and Ruby rarely come into school together, she's normally late” I say trying to hurry him off the phone “So where are you then?” “I’m at-“ I’m about to answer his question but then a tap only shoulder causes me to look over my shoulder “Sorry I’ll move-“ I recognise the person almost too quickly making me pause “Erm I-I” I was supposed to finish my sentence off but ‘I’ll speak to you later" I say before ending the call just like that

“Hey” Cole breathes out smiling down on me “Hi” I tight smile surprised seeing him here “You liked my present so much you came to get more?” I nod quickly even though that wasn’t the case “Well actually I-I” I look up at him accidentally then direct my gaze past his head “I was coming to get it for you” His brows shoot up in shock “Well only because I promised you the gift and yeah” I look away to the counter “Well in that case since I’m here, I’ll buy-” “No it’s fine, I was going to get it anyways” He thinks about it then smiles patting my head “If you insist little one” I smile awkwardly looking down then step ahead when we are called forward

“Thank you” Cole leans on the table as we wait for our food and drinks to be ready “You did it first it would be rude not to” I thank myself that I was able to now get sentences out even though my ears were still burning hot 

“Thanks” Cole stands straight taking the things from the girl and I don’t miss her brushing her hand against his in a flirtatious way “See you later?” He says causing her to blush a little bit “Come on little one” There is it, that’s what caused me to so hot, his 'little one' nickname he gave me

“Yeah” I follow him out the shop not even realising where we were walking to until we got to a black all tinted BMW “Err” I scratch my head not knowing what to do “Get my keys it’s in my back pocket” He instructs and I listen, reaching in and pressing the car open

“Cool get in” He says casually and I look at him with wide eyes “W-What?” “Are you not going school today?” I nod slowly “Sweet, then get in, Wintyr would kill me if I left his girlfriend in the morning cold, come on” My smile falters a bit forgetting the fact he thought I was dating Wintyr so he was just being nice cause of that fact 

“Oh right, okay” I nervously hold my hand out to open the door watching him sit down “Why are you being so slow?” He waves for me to come in “Hurry” I nod quickly then snap out of it, getting inside ‘Oh my god it smells amazing in here’ I look around the leather interior interested but trying not to be so obvious like Wintyr warned me

“Not to be a cocky s**t, but my dad bought it for me that’s why it’s so sparkly” I nod still doing my eye tour then end at him staring at me “Sorry” I look away doing my seatbelt quickly and he chuckles shaking his head “You’re funny” He hands me my drink “Cold drinks in the morning?” He questions and I shrug 

“I hate hot-“ My eyes look at him not wanting to let him know yet “I hate the cold but love drinking cold things, I know I'm weird haha” I look out the window doing a crying face “Oh cool, not weird at all, you're like my sister” He sits up straight adjusting himself “Sister? You have one? Older or younger?” I ask being nosey “Older, she still goes to our school in fact” “Oh cool” “What about you?” He asks doing his seatbelt

“Erm well I have a younger brother and a sister which well, yeah it’s Ruby my step sis and so is my younger bro” He bops his head up and down “I heard you two were related but I never really- like I don't know” He runs his hand through his hair smiling “I don't know what I was gonna say” He shrugs laughing at himself and I smile at his cuteness 

“I totally get you” I take a sip of my drink "People don't really know how to react to it" I lie trying to reassure him “So what are you hobbies?” He asks making me slightly confused cause I thought we were going to school but we were fully having a conversation in the Starbucks parking lot “Ermm, not much, Netflix?” He smirks “Netflix and chill kinda girl?” He smirks “Kinda, like a few days ago me and Wintyr watched some things but he-“ “Was thinking about doing other things right, hmmm I guess it’s true what they say, quiet girls are the freaky ones” I blink a couple times trying to digest what he had just said then look away, a bit overwhelmed 

‘Okay what do I say to that?’

“Wintyr must be a right pain in the a*s though, right?” He reaches over to take his keys from my lap that I forgot was there and starts the engine calmly “Right” I look in my lap where his hand had grazed feeling even more hot 

“But he is one lucky man” He puts his hand behind my head leaning close to me to reverse causing me hold my breath unconsciously “Mhm” I nod losing all the oxygen I had left “W-why is he lucky?” I breathe out when he gets onto the road settling back into his seat 

“What do you mean why, silly? Cause he has you, he is pretty dumb but he has good eyes, I’ll give him that” I put my straw directly in my mouth to cool myself down because the amount of heat radiating off me right now......I needed to get n***d 

“Tell me something about you that no one knows” He says randomly with a smirk smoothly driving past the cars “I can sing?” I turn my head to face him “Really?” He asks still looking at the road “I'd like to hear that one day” I smile proudly “Anytime” “Good” He nods in agreement “And what about you what’s something about you that no ones knows” 

"Hmm, let me think" He taps the wheel “Dunno if people know this but my ex cheated on me which made me quite numb to the whole girlfriend thing, I don't recklessly date anymore, I know a lot of people wonder but yeah” He admits “Is that the reason for the many girls....” It goes silent for a while “Kinda” I nod clenching my jaw a bit 'Who could be so stupid to cheat on him!?!?'

“So you have an older brother too?” He nods as I try to change the subject quickly “I’m kind the middle child cause I have one younger too” I nod, they must be all beautiful if Cole came out like this 

“You don't wanna ask anymore questions?” He takes his eyes off the road quickly to look at me “I’ll feel nosey if I did” He bites back a smile using his other hand to move the gear “We are here now anyways” He pulls into a parking spot “Lets go in now, it's cold so take my coat” He reaches out the the back and brings forward a black puffer similar to Wintyr’s “No I’m fine really” “Take it” He puts it in my lap and steps out the car coming round to open my door “Thank you” I get out and he stands there waiting for me to put it on “You really didn't have to do this” I swallow as it fit me snugly and let’s not even start on the smell 

“Come on, let’s head inside before we get late” I nod taking my bag and follow him in “I gotta go but thanks for breakfast Gab, see ya” He meets up with one of his friends when we are inside and I nod heading straight to my locker to get my books 

“Hmmm” Wintyr appears out of nowhere “Where have you been? Wait is this-” He brings me closer and sniffs the jacket “Loud? Cole’s jacket” He looks up in thought then at me shocked “Or do you smoke too?” “Too? What are you talking about? What's loud?” I didn't even hear what he was saying cause my ears were ringing with what just happened “Why are you wearing Cole’s coat?” I open my locker quickly not even realising I was ignoring Wintyr in the process 

“Are you mad at me?” He questions and I stop “Huh? What? No why would I be?” I shut my locker and walk the opposite direction to my class “I have to walk you to class” He runs behind me taking my hand which I snatch back “What’s with you this morning?” His eyebrows narrow at my behaviour “Nothing” I wave my hands and run back taking off Cole’s coat and stuffing it in my locker “It’s hot” I whisper and run back to him "I'm fine" I try to cool down my cheeks standing next to him

“Here” I go in my bag and hand him what I got him from Starbucks also “Almond croissant? you are forgiven fake girlfriend” He snatches it off me eyeing it “Okay let’s go” This time I hold my hand out to him to show him I was now with him and he smiles at the gesture using his other to eat “For a second I thought something happened with Cole or something, everyone has that stupid puffer” He rolls his eyes

 “I’ll buy you a new coat okay, as my gift to you, fake girl” “Just call me by my name Wintyr” I snap and he jolts his head back taken aback “Jeez now I know why you are late, someone is on their period” He whispers the last bit to himself making me scowl
