CHAPTER 16: Distant Crush

Wintyr had been in his parents room for 15 minutes, having the "talk" they had promised him when we got back, whilst I was here sat in Summyr’s room helping her pick an outfit to the bonfire on Friday 

“Your style is really unique, I like them all” I compliment Summyr as she shows mw her third pick out of six "You think?" She pouts then looks back into the mirror “But which one would Danny like?” I look at her through the mirror knowing her and Danny wasn’t something I was supposed to find out so I pick up my phone pretending not to hear her question 

I jump as a door down the hall slams shut followed by Wintyr's footsteps speeding past Summyr's room “Wintyr?” I run after him catching his door before it shut in my face “Jheez calm down” I close his room door walking to his desk where he sat with his head down “Go home Gabriella” He grumbles making me roll my eyes “You’re my ride home i***t” I look at him waiting for his comeback but as the silence goes on I could tell he was angry....

I mean that was obvious but talking about it could make it better so I decide to keep going

“What did they say to you?” He lets out a mini groan then looks up at me “Nothing” “Wintyr seriously” I place my hands on his thigh bending down so I could look up at him “It's nothing" He looks out his window "Wint-" "My little sister Solar’s has a heart disease” He shuts me off quicker than I expected "Happy?" He snaps at me sarcastically

“And guess what? It’s not getting better” My heart drops as his voice raises with emotion “She’s had it since she was little but” I see his fists shaking “She doesn't deserve this” He shakes his head but I cup his face quickly so he could breathe “Wintyr calm down” I push his hair back quickly so he would look at me "No one deserves it" I try to reason with him "Wintyr" I call him so he could snap out of it

"Yeah?” He calms down finally looking at me “She’s fine for now, right? At least you have her right now” He looks down swallowing hard “Look at me” He looks up slowly 

“She’s still alive, with you Wintyr, and even though something bad could happen to her, you need to treasure what you have for now, she will be fine and I will pray for her but if you’re gonna be upset about it, you're gonna miss out on the best times you have with her” He looks at me as his eyes become glossy with every word making me tear up too

“My mum left me” I drop my hands on his lap as I begin “I didn’t have time with her either, and when I grew up I was so angry but-“ I shrug as a single tear drops “But then I remembered that without her I wouldn’t be here and I have my dad, Ruby and my step mum” I peak up at Wintyr who was listening attentively, a single tear down his face too

“I hated my dad for not trying to get her to stay, I was mad at the world cause everyone had what I didn't, then Melissa, my step mom, fell pregnant and it somehow made me feel better” I laugh breathlessly feeling pathetic “How comes you and Ruby are so close, aren’t step sisters meant to hate each other or something?” Wintyr tries to joke through our crying session and I laugh shaking the tears away "You're an i***t" My voice cracks as he scoffs

“I don’t know” I shrug “She helped me through life and my dad married when I was young so I sorta just grew up with her like she was my actual sister” I answer and Wintyr wipes his nose then his eyes with his sleeve

“F!ck I’m so pathetic” I wipe my face as reality hits me again “Sorry” I get up but he does the same all of a sudden, hugging me “It’s okay” He rests his head on my top of my head and stay theres for a while “You have me now too” He adds and after a while I settle into his hold feeling warm  

“Thank you Wintyr, I was meant to comfort you, now look at me” I say when we pull away “No you really did comfort me Gabriella” “Gabby?” I try to reason for him to call me my nickname now that we were sorta friends “Nah i'm good with Gabriella” He says not interested in my suggestion 

He sits on his bed then pats beside him “Have you kissed a boy before?” He randomly asks “Huh?” I blurt out surprised “Have you-“ “No no no” I quickly run to him and cover his mouth “No I haven't” I breathe out looking at him still in shock

“Okay chill” He slowly removes my hands “I just wanted to help you out” My brows narrow “With what?” “To kiss” “What? How?” He scratches the back of his head “Me and you can practise” I look at him weirdly not knowing what he meant “What do you mean?” He takes my wrist and pulls me closer 

“Cole likes girls who know how to kiss” He places my stiff body between his legs “So what’s that got to do with me?” I was confused as Wintyr puts his hands behind my neck pulling me down “What are you doing?” “Kissing you” He says quietly then pulls me down attaching his lips to mine but I was quick to push him back 

"Seriously what are you doing?" I look him in the eyes "Just relax Gabriella" He whispers calming me down “Wait, I’m not g-good” I stutter out holding his chest away “Thats what I’m here for, follow my lead” I take a deep breath then close my eyes waiting for him to go 

“What are you doing?” He chuckles and I open my eyes “Am I already messing it up?” I worriedly ask moving away but snatches me back shaking his head “Not at all, come here” He pulls me on top of him to straddle his lap 

“You’ll be in this position with Cole and then he'd want you to make a first move, what will you do?” He quizzes me and I bite my lip thinking quickly

“Ermm?” I push Wintyr’s hair back “Mm mm” He shakes his head “Hmm” I look around his face then caress his cheek “Mmm kinda” He smirks anticipating for me to get it right "I don't know" I say under my breath trying to figure it out 

“Bingo” He says as I wrap my arms around his neck “Then” He whispers as he pulls me closer to his chest “Who goes first?” I ask “Whoever, do you want me to?” I shrugs as he sits up “Close your eyes” I listen and then soon feel Wintyr’s lips on mine again
