Part 1
I shivered as yet another cold gust of wind breezed past, my toes curling. Why the hell did I agree to this stupid trip again? The leaves crunched under my feet when I heard the rustling sound behind me. The eerie silence sent shivers down my spine. Was something following us? I thought, wrapping my arms around myself. My jaw clenched tight and I could hear my heart rate spike and swallowed the lump in my throat but I was too scared to turn around. Taking a deep breath I managed to walk a few steps when I felt a nudge in my back. My eyes widened, feet frozen on the spot and a timid exhale slipping past, "P-please please don't...kill..." I can't die like this. I have so many dreams. Oh god, what about Kayleen? How will she survive school without me? I didn't even get to kiss Asher. And who is going to write news articles and expose scams? The worst time to die! Laughed boomed around the woods. "Anya! It's me!" A voice echoed and I felt a tap on my shoulder, a laughter flowing along. "You should see your face..." I opened my eyes and peeked at the person in front of me to which my face immediately scrunched. "Dad! What the f**k?" "That was so f*****g scary. I almost had a heart attack" I adjusted my beanie over my head, trying to breathe through my mouth, inhaling as much air as possible. My hands felt a bit clammy, tears stinging in the corner of my eyes. "Anya language!" My mother gasped, hitting my arm. I winced and rubbed the sore spot. "This is what happens when you let your children be heathen" My mother mumbled narrowing her eyes towards my father. He rolled his eyes in response. "Ma I'm hungry" My sister groaned while standing beside me. I glared at her. Even though she was only four years younger than me she was already towering me. Stupid genes. "And whose fault is that? I already told you both to fill up on lunch" My mother snapped while ruffling through her handbag. This was turning out to be the worst camping trip ever. I can't believe my father thought it would be a good break to disconnect from the phone. That was not even the worst thing to happen. Our car broke down in the middle of the road and we have been walking for about an hour. I was pretty sure that the forest area was not for camping but my dad decided it's the perfect spot. Who can oppose to that logic? "Anya!" My mother sighed while handing me the snickers bar. I shook my head, "I am not hungry" "Suit yourself." "Hey?" My sister called as she walking beside me. I hummed while trying to secure the strap of my bag. The crinkling sound of wrapper was the only sound echoing around. It was pitch dark. The faint moon light peeking from the trees the only source of our light. Dense and thick branches were surrounding us. There was a foul smell lingering in the air as if something was dead. "Do you think we will die today?" Aechia casually asked and took a bite of her kit kat. I blinked my eyes at her. "Wow. I hope so." "Aechia" I called my sister who twitched at the name and raised her brow. "Hmm?" "Do you think there's a stream nearby? I mean look at that water line" I pointed out. She snorted and crossed her arms across her chest. "What is this? An episode of Man Vs Wild?" She sassily asked "Girls!" My father yelled, looking over his shoulder. "We have to get there this century. Hurry up." As I crossed that line unknown fear gripped my heart and for some reason, I wanted to get out of there. My eyes warily looked around but I couldn't find anything. No even a single animal. "What are we looking for?" I loudly questioned and my eyes widened as my voice echoed around in the trees. My sister glared at me. "Wow be a little louder, won't ya? I don't think enough animals might have heard." She furiously whispered. "I didn't know alright. I don't live in forests" I weakly retorted. "Surprising since you eat just like the animals" "Hey!" I yelled while slapping her arm. "Cut it out you two. Or I'll make you carry my bag as well," My mother sternly said, pursing her lips. "Okay, we can stop here. Umm...It seems fine" I heard my dad's voice. He was looking around. My eyes wandered and I noticed a huge rock in the middle. "Anya, why don't you help me with the tent while your father will try to set up the fire?" "Hey" My father glared at my mother who shrugged. "Sorry honey but you aren't exactly pro at that. Remember our last camping trip?" "It was twenty years ago" He defended himself "And there's a reason for that" My mother sweetly smiled and browsed through the bag. "Whatever" He answered and asked Aechia to walk with him. My mother unhooked the tent and looked at me. I licked my lips, hesitating to walk further. I mean I was all in for hard work but when it came to me I hated it. "Uh... I have to pee" I lied. She squinted her eyes at me as if she didn't believe but then nodded her head, "Okay run along then" I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding and ran across. As soon as I crossed the line the heaviness in my chest faltered a bit. I looked over my shoulder and noticed that my mother was already taking out the materials. She didn't need my help anyway so I stalled by walking in another direction. Just then I felt the push in my bladder and I actually had to pee. I walked further in the other direction when I heard the sound of water. I knew it! I knew there was a water body nearby. Only if Aechia was here I could laugh in her face. As I walked further I heard the rustling sound from the trees which I ignored. The footsteps got heavy and I turned around only to come face to face with a freaking wolf! A big black wolf with red bloody eyes. They are real! My face paled and my throat went dry as I was trying to scream. "Sir... I mean sorry that was so stupid to assume..." "Listen, we can talk this out. You don't have to do this" I rambled while trying to move far away. I held his gaze in the hope that it will be distracted and I can outrun the wolf. Stupid I know! As I sneaked a glance to my right I felt the wolf leap on me sending me crashing down. The wolf stood above me and I gasped. This is it. I knew that I was going to die. I clenched my eyes shut as I felt the saliva drip on my chin. The loud growl echoed around and I clenched my eyes tighter. There were two of them! Suddenly the other wolf has knocked away from me so I opened my eyes. My eyes felt heavy when I noticed blue-eyed wolf with white fur hovering over me. It stared at me for a few seconds before I lost my consciousness. "Anya!" A jerk to my shoulder made me jolt in my seat. I looked around only to notice that I was sitting in the kitchen. I blinked my eyes adjusting to the bright light. "Daydreaming again?" My mother huffed forwarding the breakfast plate towards me. "Sorry" "Be quick you have to leave for school in ten minutes" I nodded my head, absentmindedly picking my food. Why did that blue-eyed wolf save me? ***
