Chapter Fifty Three

I had an awful dream. I was running through a forest, running from something dark and cold that was chasing me. The sky above me seemed so dark that it looked like it had been painted up there. Not a single star twinkling in the sky and giving me hope of something more. The lines of pine trees all looked identical, so perfectly the same that I couldn't tell if I was actually going anywhere. I could feel the darkness beginning to shroud me and the coldness breathing against my neck, making all the tiny wispy hairs stick up on end. There was a voice calling me forward, begging me to run. I couldn't work out who it was or even if I recognised the voice. The darkness made everything so foggy. I tried to focus on the voice and as I did, a piercing pinprick of light penetrated the darkness. I
