Chapter 15I've never been more scared than I was when I went into that bathroom and saw Pam's face sticking out of the bloody water. The air in the bathroom was stiflingly hot and full of steam and it smelled of the blood.
“Pam!” I rushed to the tub. “Pam! No!”
She didn't respond.
I got to the tub and I could feel that she wasn't dead. If she had been dead I'd have been able to tell. She was still alive. I started to reach for her but then I stopped and got my phone out instead. I dialed 9-1-1.
“Nine one one operator, what is your emergency?”
“I just found my friend in the bathtub, there's a lot of blood in the water. It looks like she's tried to kill herself.”
“I understand. Please remain calm, I'm dispatching emergency services now. Can you tell me your name and location?”
