Chapter 18Pam struggled against the straps holding her to the hospital bed. She had straps fastened around her wrists, ankles and a big one across her middle. Those around her wrists were padded but tight enough that she hadn't been able to get free. She yanked on the straps and was rewarded by a sharp pain in her wrists. Blood seeped out from beneath the bandages and straps on her right wrist, running down the center of her palm into the cup of her hand. She stared at the blood and tried to remember what had happened. The last thing she remembered was being in the lake of blood, swimming her way up into the air. For a second there it had looked like she was going to fly away free, but then something had grabbed her legs. After that she didn't remember what had happened until she woke up
