Chapter 10Pam looked into the mirror and was dismayed at how pale and haunted she looked, like a ghost of her former self. Okay, so the dorm's fluorescent lights didn't help, but still she was half surprised that she couldn't see through her reflection to the Firemen calendar on the wall behind her. She turned on the cold water tap, let it run for a few seconds, then bent over to splash cold water into her face. The shock of it, icy cold, nearly took her breath away. She did it again, then twice more. Thoroughly chilled, she straightened and turned off the tap. She licked the water from her lips and used a hand towel to blot the water off her face.
