Chapter 5

Alpha Jaxon's POV

Eric, my Beta had organised some drinks with our neighbouring pack, Stone Ridge. We had just concluded a deal between my pack Black Gate and his. Alpha Josh and I had grown up together so making these agreements were pretty straight forward, we both wanted the same thing and that was for our packs to thrive and stay safe. The limo's had arrived outside. Eric was so flamboyant at times, 

" Really Eric? You booked Limousines? We have cars and drivers we don't need these brother " 

" Stop being such a stiff Jax and get in, let your hair down a little, you work hard let's play harder " he said back with this grin that screamed trouble to me.

" Where are we going anyway ? " 

" You'll see Jax, you will see!" 

Great, just what I need one of Eric's wild nights out, not. I prefer to stay home or go somewhere quiet, relaxing but Eric was a bit of a playboy.

We left our pack territory which consisted of vast woodlands , two beautiful lakes and some farmland and headed towards the outskirts of London. We were definitely not having a quiet dinner with Stone Ridge. We pulled up outside this club called Scarlett's. It looked like it was going to be an expensive night, not that I mind, our businesses are turning over vast quantities of money. The security business seems rather lucrative indeed and not to mention it suits our pack members. Providing security detail for high end clients keeps their skills in use and their wolves happy.

We hopped out of our limo's and instantly my wolf perked up from his slumber. I could feel him pacing back and forth in my mind, he seemed anxious about something. Maybe it is all the noise I thought at first but then I caught a faint hint of the most amazing scent. It was like strawberries and vanilla. Now my wolf was yipping at me to get inside and follow it. So we did. Eric sensed something was going and looked at me quizzically. I mind linked him " I think my mate is in here " and with that he was off leading the way almost as eager as me. My wolf growled in my head, jealous already and we hadn't even seen her yet. 

We were seated at our table and the Alpha Josh and three of his pack joined us. We were all about the same age in our early twenties and had all done really well for ourselves and our packs but none of us had met our mates yet. Sometimes it happens once you shift for the first time when you're eighteen but for others it can take just as long as it takes a human to find their soulmate, worst case never.  

That's when it hit me again, her scent, really strong this time. She was walking over to us, she was our hostess. She reached the table and my wolf was begging to be let out the horny old dog. I could smell she was human, I didn't mind. She was beautiful, blonde hair in messy waves, stunning blue eyes, the most perfect lips and her cheeks had this glow to them. I could hear her heart rate picking up meaning she could feel something too but she hadn't made eye contact with any of us. Eric looked at me knowingly and I nodded to him and sent him a mind link conforming that yes this was his Luna. He looked so happy for me for our pack, you see once an Alpha finds an completes his bond with his Luna the pack becomes stronger, every wolf in the pack will become more balanced and enriched. The Luna really is the heart. 

I watched as she took out her pad and pen, telling us her name and asking for our drinks order. Her voice was like honey, so sweet and delicious, so natural to me yet excited me at the same time. I couldn't find my voice and I suddenly felt like a teenager again going in for my first kiss or something. Alpha Josh and his boys had now picked up on what was going on too and sat there grinning like idiots at my loss of words. Thankfully Eric to the rescue, now I know why he is my Beta. He ordered us six bottles of champagne, we are celebrating after all. Her name kept swirling round my head...Maddy. My beautiful Maddy. I had to approach her carefully since she was human, I didn't want to scare her off. It can happen. The human mate may not feel the pull to bond like the Were does and so they can run. 

She returned with a trolley filled with our Champagne and started pouring us our drinks. I hated that my Luna was serving other wolves. They should be bowing to her and treating her like the goddess she is. My jealousy was starting to boil and I needed to rein my emotions in. We sat drinking and laughing, trying to coax her to join in and relax a little. She seemed tense and on edge, remaining professional. I liked that, alot. 

" That was the last of the bottles, can I get you anything else?" she said, sounding a little nervous.

My wolf wold was in my head yapping at me to get her proper name and before I knew it I had asked.

" Yes, your name"

" Maddison, but everyone calls me Maddy or mads".

" A bottle of tequila Maddison " Goddess, could I sound any more serious.

Her hips swayed as she sauntered back to the bar with the drinks trolley to get our tequila. The short skirt she was wearing showed off her perfectly toned legs, her ass looked so tight and pert and her long waved hair reaching the middle of her back. If I knew any better I'd have thought she was teasing me but she was too innocent for that. I could scent no other male had touched her, she was untouched and all mine. My manhood twitched in my boxer briefs, this could get uncomfortable I thought to myself. My wolf was nagging me to go to mate, so that is what I did. The guys were snickering at me and making digs about me being p***y whipped already. They may be right! 

I walked up behind her and as she turned around with the alcohol and glassware she almost crashed into me. I could hear her heart beat faster again and my wolf chuffed with pride that we can make our mate flustered just by being near her. 

"Let me help you with those Maddison"

" Thank you Sir, I can manage " she chimed back sweetly.

I leaned into her, her scent was driving both my wolf and I crazy with desire and the need to protect her.

" It wasn't a request Maddison " and I took the bottle from her hand.

I immediately sensed her arousal. She liked my dominance. She stilled for a moment trying to regain her composure. I just wanted to pick her up and take her out of this place, she didn't belong here, she belonged by my side. I turned back to the table guiding us both through the customers. When we got back to the table I mind linked Eric. 

" Eric, I need you to follow her and find out where she lives, who with and anything else you can find out"

" Okay Mr Stalky " he winked at me. I am so going to rip him when he finds his mate! 

We drank tequila until our taste buds were numb and we could no longer taste the stuff, we had even got Maddison to have a shot with us and join in with out banter. She was perfect Luna material, I could tell. It got to closing time and that feeling of leaving her behind was horrific but I needed to move slowly with her if I wanted her to accept us. We said our goodbyes and left the club and on my way out left her a tip behind the bar. I smirked wishing I could see her face when she received it. 

I got in the limo and left Eric behind to do his little surveillance detail. This was going to be one long ass ride home.
