The sad story of the babysitter

Chapter seven - She will be mine

Ryder's POV:

I won't lie it hurt what Lily said for me last night. Does she really think like that? I mean I can't be that bad. Moreover, I haven't done anything to her. Well not yet. To be honest it'll be hard to get her. Lily is not like the other girls. She is different and it'll take me more time to make her fall for me. I know that I said that she is the last person with who I will go out, but it will be funny. The question is how to make her fall for me. Lily doesn't like the bad boy so maybe I have to act nice around her, which might be a problem. Usually, I go to a girl and tell her what I want, but with Lily, this will be different. 

Currently, I am outside with Alex and Mason. We are at one diner for drinks. 

- Man, for what are you thinking so much?

- Lily. 

- If I remember, you said that she is the last person who you will date. - Alex said

- I know, but she is the only one with who I haven't tried. Who knows, maybe she is a good one. 

- It's not of my business, but I think that you shouldn't try with her. I mean she is way too shy and looks sensational. - Mason said

- What do you mean?

- I mean that if you break her heart like you usually do, she might never want to talk with you. Moreover, how you'll be able to look her in the eyes when she is in your house?

- I haven't thought of that. If I try on her, I have to break her. I don't fall for girls. Girls fall for me.

- I am just saying. Wish you luck then. Lily is not an easy one. First, you have to make her trust you, which is the hardest part. 

- It's not mission impossible. Somehow, I will get her. She will be mine. 

- Watch out to don't fall for her. Usually, the quiet ones are the most attractive. - Alex chuckled

- There is no way that I will fall for her. Lily is not my type. Moreover, she doesn't like me. 

- Why are you so sure? Did she say it? - Mason asked me

- Kind of. I asked her last night what she thinks of me and to be honest it wasn't something nice. I don't know how I will deal with her. 

- You can't blame her. You two haven't talked at all. Maybe only a couple of times. You noticed her when she became the new babysitter. 

- What do you try to say, Mason?

- I am saying that she doesn’t know you at all. Everything she knows about you is from school and what she sees you doing. You two haven't had a real conversation to get to know each other. How do you expect her to say nice things about you?

- Mason is right. You need to talk with her first. It has to be a normal conversation, not you trying on her. Can you do that?

- I don't know. I have never talked with a girl just like that. I do it only to get something. 

- Well, now you have to do it. If you really want Lily, you have to do this sacrifice. - Alex chuckled again 

- I will think about it. Maybe I can make a move tonight. - I smirked to myself

After like two hours, I went home. Mom and dad are going out again, which means that Lily has to come. Why they don't tell her to come every day instead of telling her day for the day? That doesn't matter. The most important thing is that Lily will be here. Now I have to think about how to talk with her. I don't need to know who is she, but if this is the only way to get her, I will do it. 

I heard a knock on the door and went to open it. Lily was here. Perfect. 

- Please, come in. 

- Um... thanks. 

- Hi Lily. Thank you for being here again. 

- No problem miss Collins. 

- Lily! - Mia and Lea come to hug her

I have to admit that she has done some magic to them. They love her more than me. Well, I never take care of them. I have more important things to do. 

Soon my parents left. Lily was with the girls in the living room. 

- Girls, what do you want us to do tonight?

- Can we watch a movie and eat ice cream? Please. - Lea asked

- I guess that we can. What movie are we watching?

- Beauty and the beast. - Mia said

- Would you mind if I join you?

- Won't you go out? I mean you can, but don't you have plans?

- Nope. I was with the boys today so my night is free. 

- Girls, can we let him watch the movie with us?

- Only if he is quiet. - Lea said

- I promise. 

Lily went into the kitchen to bring some ice cream and came back. She put one ball on each bowl and gave us spoons. I gave her a look and she smiled in return. Maybe I have to wait until Mia and Lea go to bed. I can't do anything in front of them. I saw that Lily is feeling uncomfortable having me here. I understand her. Usually, I am out and in the house is only she with my sisters. 

After the movie, she went to make dinner. The girls were playing in the backyard. I went into the kitchen. Now or never. This is my chance. I walked right behind her and when she turned around, she jumped. 

- I didn't mean to scare you. 

- But you did. Can I help you with something? If not, I would like you to leave me, because I have to make dinner. 

- I only wanted to talk with you. 

- Ok, go on. For what do you want to talk with me?

- I just wanted to ask you how are you. 

- I am fine, thanks. Look, I don't have much time so tell me what do you want. 

- Nothing. Maybe just one normal conversation. 

- It's ok, but I have nothing to tell you. 

- But I do. I have to admit that what you said last night hurt me a little bit. Do you really think so low of me? Am I that bad?

With that, Lily looked at me. She has dark brown eyes in which you can get lost very quickly. 

- I don't want to talk about that. 

- If you give me a chance, I promise that I can change your mind. Can we be friends?

- Do you know what this word means? I don't think that you can be friends with a girl. 

- We have never really talked. How do you know what I am like?

- Because I see it. The way you act is the type of person you are. 

- Is there a chance that I can change your mind?

- Well if you show me that you are not the person who I think you are, but I don't think that you can do it. 

- I can do it if you give me a chance. What do you say? Will you give me a chance?

Lily was about to answer when Mia and Lea came inside. Why does someone or something always have to ruin everything? I guess I have to wait until these two fall asleep. I hope that she says yes. There is no other way in which I can get close to her. What I haven't thought about is what to do after I get her. I will think about this later. 

The dinner was peaceful. Lily and I didn't talk at all. Later she played with the girls until it was their bedtime. I helped her put them in bed. Then we came back to the living room for another movie. No one was talking. I don't want to rush things. With her, I have to be careful. 

I looked at her and saw one tear rolling down. Is she crying, because of me? 

- Lily, are you ok? If you don't want me to be here, just say it. I can go to my room. 

- No, you don't have to do it. I was just thinking of something. 

- Are you sure that everything is ok?

I looked at her and saw another tear. I got closer only to wipe it. After that, I pulled away. I don't want her to think that I want something. Well, I want things, but now it's not the moment for that. I have heard that silent crying is the worst killer. I did something with which I surprised myself. I moved closer again and gave her a hug. I felt how she broke down. I want to know what is wrong, but it's better if I don't ask. 

I lifted her chin and wiped her tears. Lily looked at me and quickly pulled away. She still doesn't trust me. I never said that it'll be easy. Step by step she will tell me everything. 

- If you want we can watch another movie. I won't talk with you. 

Lily didn't say anything and just nodded her head. Without realizing she put her head on my shoulder. I wrapped my hand around her. Lily was about to move, but I stopped her. 

- You don't have to be scared. I won't do anything to you. I know that it's hard, but you can trust me. 

No words. At least she didn't move. I don't know why, but it feels good having her here. Maybe I really should talk with girls not only to take something. I mean I did it with Lily and it wasn't that bad. Now I wonder what is that thing which made her upset. I think that it's better if I don't know. It's not of my business anyway. 

I looked at Lily and saw that she is sleeping. She looks cute. Did I just say that? Can she be my change? No, it's impossible for me to change. I carefully picked her up and walked to the guest room. I laid her down and put the quilt on top of her. I so much wanted to lay down next to her, but I knew that it's not right. If I want to get her, I have to be nice. Even if that means getting rid of the bad boy. This won't be easy.

I closed the door and went into my room. After half an hour, I heard a knock on my door. It was Lily. 

- I thought that you are sleeping. 

- Yeah, can you tell me how I end up in this room?

- Well, you fall asleep during the movie so I picked you up and put you in bed. Is it wrong?

- No, I just... um... thanks. I know that I have to be here until your parents come back home, but if you won't go outside can you watch the girls? I think that it's time for me to go home. 

- If that's what you want, ok no problem.

- I just...

- You just don't feel comfortable being around me. I get that. 

- Can I ask you something? Please don't get mad. 

- Sure. You can ask whatever you want. 

- Why are you doing it? I mean why are you so nice? This is not typical for you. 

- I'll be honest and tell you the truth. Since the bad boy didn't work on you I decide to try with the good guy. I won't lie that it's very hard for me, but how you can see I am trying my best. 

- So you are doing this only to get me?

- Yes, no, I mean...

- I get it. I am sorry to break it to you, but this won't work. 

- I want to be your friend. Well if you let me. I know that you still don't trust me and I understand you, but can you at least give me a chance?

- It's not like I don't want to give you one, but I am not sure will you use it the right way. I doubt in people because no one has made me feel good being around them. 

- I understand. Don't worry, you don't have to be around me. I will leave you. 

Not like I wanted to. If I have to be honest I like being around her. Finally, I found someone who doesn't want something from me. 

- You don't have to leave. Just try to respect that sometimes I might not trust you, but I hope that you won't blame me for that. 

- I will never do it. 

Lily is not bad at all. Maybe she has a problem and that's why she is so distant from people. I would like to help her, but only if she let me. Step by step I will get close to her. Now I am starting to wonder should I use her like the others or actually keep her. There is something in her, which I can't describe. For some reason, I feel that she is broken, but I don't know from who or what. One day I might understand. Now all I want is to enjoy the night while she is here.
