The sad story of the babysitter

Chapter seventeen - Messing with the babysitter

Ryder's POV:

I finally did it. I kissed Lily yesterday and god it felt good. No, amazing. I won't lie that I liked it. Now I realize something. It was her first kiss or let's say that I kind of stole it, but I don't feel guilty. I have had many kisses from many girls, but somehow with Lily, it felt different. I did with her what I always do. She is just a girl, except for the fact that she has a very sad story. Maybe that's why it was different. Because I look at her differently. I feel the need to help her, but I don't how. I can't bring her sister back to life. 

Today I am excited because Lily will come again. Someone will ask why she keeps coming since I am at home. I am here only because of her. Otherwise, I would be out with the boys. I heard the knock on the door and went to open it. Lily was staying in front of it, dressed with sweatpants, a shirt, and sneakers. Her hair was in a ponytail. I have to admit that she is pretty. 

- Hey, thank you for coming. Come in. 

- No problem. Where are the girls?

- They are...

But before I could finish the girls ran up to her. I guess that now I have to fight with them for attention from Lily. 

- Lily!

- Hey! How are my favorite girls? - she said and tapped their noses

- We are good. Can we make chocolate cookies? - Lea looked at her with puppy eyes

- Yeah, why not. 

- Can I join or it's only for girls?

- As long as you help us. - Lily said

With that, an idea came to my mind. I have nothing to do today, so I can mess with her. When all of us went to the kitchen, I pulled Lea close to me. 

- What are you doing? I want to make cookies. - Lea said

- Do you want to play with Lily?

- Yes, but now we can't. 

- We can, but only if you do what I tell you. 

- Ok, what do I have to do?

- Go, give Lily a back hug and carefully take her phone from her pocket. 

Lea nodded and went to Lily. She gave her a back hug and took her phone. Lea came back to me and gave me the phone. I won't unlock it, but I know how to use it. 

- Ok, listen to me now. I will call Lily and all I want you to do is when she searches for her phone, you to start running around the house. Then before she catches you, I want you to give me her phone. Can you do it?

- And what I will receive?

Why do the kids have to be like that? Can't she do something nice for her brother?

- I will give you a cookie. 

- Ok, then. Call her. - she said and laughed

I dialed Lily's number and her phone started ringing. She started searching for it in her pockets, but it wasn't there. Dear Lily, you won't find it there. 

- Is this what you are searching for? - Lea asked

- What my phone is doing in your hands? Give it to me. I have to pick it up. 

- Come and get it then. 

Lily was about to get it when Lea started running around the house. It turned out that they are not that bad sisters. I see that we can work together in the future. Lea went into the backyard and came back inside to give the phone. I smiled to myself when I saw the running Lily. Finally, she caught Lea, but the phone wasn't in her anymore. I will give it to her, but with some conditions. 

- Lea, where is my phone?

- I don't know. 

- You mean this thing. - I said 

- How...? Never mind. Ryder gives me my phone back. 

- I will... if...

- If what? What do you want?

I didn't say anything and started walking to the living room. I was sure that she would follow me. People will do everything for their phones. That includes me as well. I sat on the couch and she sat next to me. I looked at her with a small smirk. 

- Will you stop smirking and give me my phone?

- Kiss me.

- What?

- Kiss me and I will give you the phone. 

- I won't do it. Now give it back.

- Do this and I will give it to you. 

- You know what. Keep it. You won't unlock it anyways. 

I was about to give it back when the home screen turned on. There was a picture of two girls. One of them is Lily and the other one must be her sister. 

- This is your sister, right?

- Yes, this is Lizzy. 

- She is very pretty. 

- I know. She took the beauty and the socializing and me... well... nothing. 

- That's not true. Both of you are pretty and look happy in this picture. 

- We were. 

- You miss her a lot, don't you?

- I do. I won't be able to forget her. 

With that, I saw tears in her eyes. I hate to see her sad or when she is crying. 

- Hey, come here. - I said and pulled her for a hug

- I'm sorry. I am very emotional when it comes to her. 

- It's ok. I understand. 

We stayed like that for a while. Later the girls came. Why I can't be alone with her? Not like I mind my sisters, but I wish that they didn't come. 

- Ok, who is ready to make some cookies? - I asked

- Me! - both of them said

- Let's go then. 

After half an hour, we were done and the cookies were in the oven. Mia and Lea went to play in the backyard, while Lily and I stayed in the kitchen to wait for them to get ready. I saw that Lily was somewhere else. I lifted her chin and she gave me a sad smile. My guess is that Lizzy is in her mind. I pulled her close and gave her a hug again. Lily didn't complain and just snuggled. 

Soon the cookies were ready and Lily pulled them out. While we were waiting for them to cool down, the girls wanted to play hide and seek. They wanted Lily or me to count. Since she lost the rock, paper, scissors challenge, she is the one who will count. I went into my room and hide in the bathroom. I heard when Lily found the girls. The only one who left was I. Lily told the girls to search downstairs, while she is upstairs. After not more than a minute she was in my room. 

- Ryder, are you here? You know that this game is for kids. - she laughed

Lily opened the bathroom door and since I haven't turned on the lights she was about to leave, but I was quick. I grabbed her hand and pulled her inside. 

- What the...?

- Shhhh! - I put my hand on her mouth

Lily didn't say anything and looked at me. 

- I will let you go, but I still want this kiss. Can I have it?

- You know that we are only friends, right?

I won't lie that this hurt me a little. I know that we are not dating, but there is a part of me, which wishes that we did. I don't know how, but this girl is changing me. Before I was never going to spend so much time at home and even help my sisters. Now I am different and to be honest, I like myself that way. 

I leaned closer and was about to kiss her when the door opened. Damn it! Why people don't want me to kiss her? I won't give up and until the end of the day, I will get this kiss. 

- We found you! - Mia and Lea said in sync

- Yay! - I said with sarcasm

- Don't be sad. The next time, you might get one. - Lily laughed and walked out

I know how I might get one kiss from her. The thing is that my sisters may see it, something, which Lily won't like. I went downstairs to find the girls in the living room. I sat next to Mia and all of them gave me a look. I smile in return. 

- Girls, do you want to watch the sunset?

- And where we can watch it? - Lily asked me

- There is one park, from which we can see it. Do you want us to go?

- I would love to. Girls, you can play in the park if we go. - Lily said

- Then what are we waiting for? Let's go! - Lea said, which made Lily and me start laughing

When all of us were ready we walked out. The park is like not more than 30 minutes walking from home. I hope that at least now I can have even a minute alone with Lily. I wanted to grab her hand, but Mia and Lea were faster. It's not easy with two kids. I don't know what mom and dad were thinking. I guess that they wanted to have a girl as well. 

Soon we arrived at the park. I went to sit on the green meadow and the girls sat next to me. Basically, only Mia. Lily is more important than I am. Not like I mind, but I know them since the day they were born. Lily came like a month ago and they already love her more. Well, I never took care of them. 

- The sun is so big and red. - Lea said

- That's why it's called sunset. - I said

- Can we go and play? I want to swing. - Mia said

- Yeah, sure. Just don't go far away. I want to see you. 

- Ok. Lea, are you coming? 

Both of them went to swing. Finally, we are alone. I feel like the boys in the movies, who want to be alone with the girl of their dreams. Except that mine isn't from a dream. Let's not forget that at the beginning I didn't like her at all. 

I moved closer and wrapped my hands around her. Lily looked at me but didn't say anything. 

- You're so pretty. 

- What?

- The sun. It's pretty. 

- Yes, it is. - Lily said and snuggled

I lifted her chin and looked her in the eyes. This time there wasn't pain. For the first time, I see that she is happy. And the fact that maybe I am the reason for that makes me happy as well. 

- You are happy. 

- I am. I really am. And the reason is you and the girls. 

With that, I leaned in and kissed her. I don't care will someone see me or not. I couldn't wait anymore. I feel like this kiss is even better than the one, which I gave her last night. I don't know what she is doing to me, but I am melting around her. The kiss was nice and soft. I felt like I don't want to let her go. I never thought that I can feel like that for a girl. Who knew that I could fall for the shy and antisocial girl? 

When we pulled apart, I saw that her cheeks were bright pink. I kissed one of them and pulled her close again. 

- You don't need to be shy. I won't do anything else. I promise you. - I said and kissed the top of her head

- I know and thanks. 

It was getting dark and the girls and I went back home. This time I was quicker and grabbed Lily's hand, before one of my sisters to have a chance. 

What a day it was? One of the best, which I have ever had. Now I can finally say it. I am in love with Lily. All of this started as a game. I wanted to get her and I did it, but there is one major difference. Now I won't let her go. I don't want to. For the first time, I saw that she is happy and the reason was I. You have no idea how happy I am right now. Lily is nothing like the other girls. She is the babysitter with the sad story. A story, which changed everything.
