The unexpected

The footsteps were slow, like those of an elderly woman. "Who is shouting like that?" It was Juliet, Stephanie's evil stepmother. Her eyes narrowed as she folded her arms across her chest. Juliet knew that the person shouting in the sitting room was Stephanie. She wanted to express her hatred toward her. As Stephanie saw Juliet, her eyes widened in surprise. She shook her head in disbelief and stammered, "W... wh... what are you doing in my house?" "I should be asking you that question. As you can see, James is in love with my daughter," Juliet said, her face hardening. She tilted her head and looked Stephanie from head to toe. "What? So you are part of this?" Stephanie said, her hands trembling as she tightened her grip around the cup of coffee she had been holding. "Yes. You think you are better than us," Juliet said. Her jaw stiffened. "I never said that," Stephanie said. She looked away from Juliet to avoid eye contact. Stephanie turned and looked at everyone in the sitting room, and her eyes finally landed on James. James looked away from her while she stared at him in disbelief. "I will take my revenge and get back everything you all stole from me," Stephanie said. She gazed at James and said, "James, no woman can love you the way I have loved and sacrificed for you." "I need to leave now." Tears welled in her eyes. "So you have finally decided to go back to where you belong," Melinda said with a cruel smile. She smirked as she folded her arms. "Shut up, you evil stepsister! I have always known that you are jealous because my late father has always loved me more." Her face hardened. "I can never be jealous of you because you have nothing to offer," Melinda replied, smiling with her eyes as she looked Stephanie from head to toe. "You have been jealous ever since I married James, who has been begging you to date him," Stephanie said, her eyebrows knitting toward the center. "Enough! I won't let you insult Melinda in my presence," James replied, his jaw tightening. He took a step backward and rubbed his head in frustration. Immediately, Stephanie remembered her little baby, Harrison. She became tense as she said, "James, where is our baby?" Her hands trembled. Everyone in the sitting room was unconcerned. "James, where is Harrison? I know you have never loved him." Panic surged through her heart. "Go and look after that baby you gave birth to with another man," James replied as he pointed a finger toward the door. "That baby is our baby, and you are the father of that child," Stephanie replied, her heart torn apart. James turned to look at her as he was about to reveal something very deep. "My Doctor Hartman told me that the child is not mine after calling me for a DNA test." His face turned pale. He gazed at the floor in frustration. "Something must have gone wrong," Stephanie said. "Nothing went wrong. I got a message from someone who told me Harrison was not my child." "Who is that person?" she asked. "It's a close friend of yours. What she told me made me go for a DNA test." "These are all lies, James." "I can't believe you. I should have confronted you about it, but Melinda told me there was no need." James did not know that everything had been planned by Melinda to deceive him. "It is never possible; you are the father of that child, and if you don't take responsibility, I will sue you," Stephanie said, her lips trembling as she shook her head from side to side in disbelief. "You can't do anything because you have no proof. What you did shows that you don't deserve me," James replied, his hands tightening. Stephanie was confused. "What is the meaning of all this? Ever since I met you, I have never seen any man or anybody except you." Her eyes carried weight. "Hahaha," Melinda laughed as she continued, "You claim to be responsible and upright, but look at you-an adulteress." She smirked and tilted her head mockingly. "Shut up, you home destroyer. I know you from childhood, and I don't want to expose you," Stephanie replied, her gaze sharpening. "There is nothing to expose because James here knows who I am," Melinda replied. She slowly walked toward James and wrapped her arms around him possessively. "Don't insult me before I do something very bad to you." Stephanie's hands tightened. Melinda's cheeks expanded, and she gently touched James' lips with her finger before turning back to Stephanie with a victorious look. Suddenly, Melinda got a call from Doctor Hartman. She quietly left the sitting room to answer the call in secret. Something dangerous was about to be revealed.
