Hidden truth

"Good morning, ma. The DNA test has been done, and the false report was shown to James as planned," the doctor said, lowering his eyelids. "That's good. I have also given Stephanie's baby the poison you gave me." She folded her arms. "Okay, ma. So when will you transfer my balance?" the doctor asked, rubbing his head as he was nervous. "I will transfer your balance of 40 thousand dollars this evening." Her lips curved upwards as she tilted her head. "Alright, ma." His face hardened as the call ended. She came back to the sitting room, where Stephanie was speaking to James after he had called the security men to throw her out. She walked as her heels clicked on the marble floor. "So this is who you truly are: a beast who can call security on someone who has been good to you," Stephanie said, tears welling in her eyes. She shook her head in disbelief. "Stephanie, I have found true love with Melinda," he said calmly, his eyes heavy. Immediately, James received a message from Kelvin, his brother, saying, "Your reasons for dating Stephanie have been accomplished. She can now leave your life." He took a deep breath. James sent a reply: "Have the documents for the estates been taken from Stephanie's lawyer?" His grip on the phone became firm. Kelvin sent another message: "Yes, they have. They will be used to treat your father forever, and Stephanie can now leave your life." His eyes shanked. James felt excited but tried to hide it because Stephanie was there. He looked away from her. "So this is how our relationship will end?" Stephanie spoke as her cheeks flattened, pointing a finger towards him. "Steph, it's not my fault." He forced a saddened expression. "You accuse me of sleeping with another man. I can never do such a thing. That baby is yours." Stephanie tried to defend herself, her lips shaking. "Having a baby with you is possible, but my doctor's report says otherwise," he replied. Suddenly, Stephanie remembered her baby, Harrison, as she was perceiving a strange smell. "Where is Harrison, and why is the place smelling?" she turned her head sideways, trying to locate where it's coming from. She noticed her baby had not made any sound since she came, and it was unusual. Panic ran through her blood. Her blood ran cold in fear that her baby might be sick. "Harrison!" she shouted as she remembered her baby. Her world began to spin. She quickly ran to the room and saw her baby looking lifeless. She ran to hold the baby, and her hands were trembling heavily. "Harrison, wake up. It's Mom. Open your eyes." Tears streamed down her face as she cried aloud, and her vision became blurred. She brought the baby close to her chest to feel his presence and wrapped her hands around him protectively. James came into the room, but he looked at her and the baby and said nothing because he believed it was not his baby. He moved backward slightly. Stephanie carried the lifeless baby to the sitting room and said to Melinda, "I don't know who killed this baby, but you will all regret it." Her face hardened. Beads of sweat ran down her face. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Mom, is that you?" James walked towards the door, his eyes narrowed. He opened the door, and Jennifer entered as she struggled to firmly stand on the ground. Her eyes landed on Stephanie like those of an owl. "What are you still doing here, you gold digger? You deceived my son by lying to him that Harrison is his baby," Jennifer spoke as she scoffed. "I am not a gold digger. That baby belongs to James, and everything I have here is mine," Stephanie fired back, her lips pressed into a thin line. She pointed a finger towards Jennifer. "You liar. The money you claim to have does not belong to you." Her eyes narrowed. "You can't prove that." Stephanie's eyes narrowed in pain. She shook her head sideways in disbelief. "You are a liar. You keep deceiving yourself." Her cheek remained hard. "I tried to manage you, but it didn't work. It's time for you to leave," he replied, his face filled with false remorse. Jennifer looked at Stephanie and said, "I knew your dad many years ago. I knew how he gave you what does not belong to you." "It's not true. How did you know my family?" She stared at Jennifer with a shaking eyelid. "Let me tell you something that you don't know about your history." Her face became pale. Jennifer walked towards Stephanie. Stephanie folded her arms and looked at Jennifer. She was expecting to hear something important.
