Episode 19

1003 Words
Diego’s POV I was brutally awakened with the sound of babies crying, I fell out of the sofa in shock the problem was that I completely forgot that Alex slept in my arms last night so now we are both lying on the floor. “Uhh.” I heard Alex say from beside me. “Why did you do that?” She asked dumbfounded “The crying!” I said to her in a duh tone which she did not find amusing. “That’s how they tell you they are awake.” She said already up and off the floor making her way to the room that I learnt is charlotte’s. I stood back and watched as she went up to the baby and her mood was lifted, at this second her eyes were shining with pure love, however there was still some crying but not as loud anymore. “What about Charlie?” I asked confused. “Since Charlotte is so loud I can’t calm Charlie until she is calm, and Charlie is very unsettled whenever his sister is crying.” She said finishing cleaning Charlotte and dressing her up giving her a little kiss and then picking her up and walking off passing by me, I followed her them to Charlie’s room. “Hey baby boy.” She said setting Charlotte down with a toy and basically did the same routine that she did on Charlotte. “Mama.” Charlotte said putting her arms up to be picked up. “I’m coming you needy little thing.” She said gushing all over Charlotte making her laugh while holding Charlie. “Do you want help.” I offered making her jump, I think she forgot I was here for a while. “Yes please.” She said passing the two babies to my arms. “Can you please secure them on the high chairs while I make their bottles.” She said pointing to the identical high chairs next to the island. After a couple of minutes she placed a bottle in front of each baby and placed a plate of food in front of me and one for herself. “Thank you.” I said to her and began eating. Last night when she asked me if I hated her the look in her eyes broke me, I was mad but not anymore, I understand why she did what she did and I still think it was my decision to make but I’m not mad at her, I’m still upset but it’s hard to because seeing the way she looks at the babies makes me so happy and proud of her. “We still need to talk more about the whole situation.” I said breaking the silence. “I know.” Was all she said taking the last bite of her food and putting her plate in the dishwasher mine following. “Mama.” The babies both said at the same time placing down their bottles.  “Are you little ones done.” She said picking them of the highchairs and setting them on the floor and they both started running about, tripping over their own feet. “Careful.” Alex said warningly. “I still can’t believe I’m a dad.” I said to her watching the twins. “Yeah it’s something hard to wrap your head around.” She said smiling at me sympathetically. “Diego you probably don’t know this but I’m stepping up as leader today.” She said making my eyes widen in shock, “I had been training to step up alone for a while but I was wondering since you are here you could step up with me.” She said with hoping eyes. “Alex I would never leave you to step up alone, this is something we both had discussed before all that happened happened, we were always supposed to do it together.” I said bringing her in for a hug. “Is that a yes.” She asked looking into my eyes. “Of course it’s a yes.” I said giving her a squeeze loving the way it feels to have her in my arms so much I don’t want to let her go. We were broke apart because of a cry, I started to freak out but when I looked at Alex she looking completely calm. “Why are you so calm?” I asked making my way behind her as she made her way to a crying Charlotte. “That’s because that wasn’t her I’m hurt help cry, or I’m upset help cry, that was no one has given me attention for 5 minutes come and bow at my feet cry.” She said chuckling. “There’s that many cries?” I asked confused. “Yep, it’s ok you will get used to them and recognise them better, that is if you want to be part of their lives.” She said also picking up Charlie and sitting down with both the babies. “Of course I want to be in their lives and not just in their, in yours too.” I said to her taking in the sight, she was sitting in the middle with both the babies leaning against her, they look so much like her it’s crazy, but they also look so much like me. Different coloured eyes are so unic, it shocking when I got them but to have twins have them too and both colours being on the same eyes as each other. Someone might think maybe, how can you be so sure they are yours, do a dna test, I however don’t need that because even without the two different coloured eyes they look so much like me and it’s not in just on thing, and all the dates fit perfectly so there is no question that these kids are mine. Alex’s POV Knowing Diego wants to be present in the kids lives makes me so happy because my biggest fear with that he would reject them, I wouldn’t be able to see my babies be shut off by their own father, just the thought makes my heart hurt, so to know that he wants to be there is just the best thing ever. I know not everything is or is going to be perfect but to know my babies have a full family warms my heart. I sit back and look at Diego and his eyes look so loving looking at the twins, I know that the twins will love him because it’s impossible not to.
