As the last of the flames died down from the burning pyre, I feel Eliza's body sag against mine. I look down as she rests a hand gently on my chest as she gazes at her best friend's ashes gathering on the earthen floor. Chief Black and Annalise are standing hand in hand on the opposite side. I watch as my parents and Eliza's parents walk over to them to say something silently before walking back to the pack house.
